    Not a fan of rankings - everybody has their different tastes and there's usually no reasoning provided for the rankings, and if there is, it's the obvious stuff. To me it just fills up the board uselessly. NOT intending to be a negative nancy!

    Thinking about it, the album is going to be tough to listen to on vinyl. Split up into 4 sides! CD wins in terms of playing it consistently all the way through. -sigh- Anybody know if getting the CD or CD+DVD gives us the iTunes album as well? Or is that just deluxe edition only?

    Ah fair enough - the internet doesn't quite convey tone so well so your message came across as rude, is all! Another thing I forgot to add to the list was listening to the album without ease to skip a track or two.

    imagine if all the others songs aside from what we've heard don't actually exist. Those Instagram clips were all just random riffs and solos. There aren't actually any songs. The Globalist and Defector are still as incomplete as their Making Of videos showed.

    I have a strong feeling we're going to be bitterly disappointed. I just can't see them releasing a 4th song within 2 weeks of album launch - unless it was a recent 'last minute' sorta decision by them to increase interest with the heavier side of their fanbase, I don't know. The surprise is probably not that big - just more news. Q&A as mentioned in the past?

    Another reason I plan to also get vinyl is because skipping songs just becomes a b****. Forces you to listen to all the songs chronologically as the story should be told.

    About Dark Shines, I never paid attention to the piano in the chorus, which is why I said what I did. I stand corrected there. And my point is and was that Drones has hardly anything - I was emphasising the point. I didn't mean to do a committed research in checking each song for a certain % of piano in it.

    I hate how I mention a number of songs on each album with decent amounts of piano (aside from Starlight), and a bunch of people jump on and say, 'OH BUT THIS TOO AND THIS AND THIS', even if some of the songs featured one bar of piano *cough*Dark Shines*cough* That wasn't the point. The point is that Drones is predominantly guitar-centred with only a section in The Globalist, excluding the Mercy motif.

    How is getting vinyl at all pretentious? Reasons people may get vinyl: 1. The artwork and design, on that scale too. 2. It's nice to hold, look into and open up. 3. Drones has 2 or 3 tracks per side on each vinyl disc, potentially and likely meaning greater groove broadness and depth for dynamics and bass. 4. Some people enjoy the sound of the needle. There is no need to be rude here.

    So you wouldn't want to follow the story and absorb the whole experience chronologically, and logically, at once? Letting the anticipation build-up as you know that a new song is around the corner once you're up to Reapers?

    No no, you're not inferior because of that haha I reckon the general populace cannot really tell the difference these days because everyone just sticks to their iPods and streaming.

    If that's the case, then yeah, I'll be slightly disappointed because Matt pulls off some amazing piano playing, no matter how simple or chaotic. I'll miss it, this album, but it's also a bit refreshing having a guitar-centred album - the first since... ever? Showbiz had Sunburn. OoS had Space Dementia (and CE) Abs had AP, SFA (in a way), B&H, RBS BH&R had Starlight (partially) and Hoodoo TR had USoE, IBTY, Exogenesis Pt. 2 and 3 T2L had Prelude, Survival, Explorers, IS. Drones has just a section in The Globalist. Also Mercy (partially) I think JFK might have some piano and strings in the background though. Revolt and Aftermath are possibly piano-involving songs too.
