  1. Also worth pointing out that basing itself on the Augmented Flex thing, which popped up briefly in the Dig Down vid way back when and fans latched onto it thinking it meant something even though it hasn’t appeared since, isn’t unlikely to be something a fan would do. Also am I making up a memory or did someone ask the band about that at some point and they said it didn’t really mean anything? Maybe Matt on Twitter.

Anyway, that plus the fact that the 60 day countdown just leads to November 9th, which we already know is the release, as opposed to a different date for an unknown tour/gig/song announcement or something and that the video claims we’ve ‘unlocked’ something when we haven’t got anything - I’m calling bull until something more substantial happens.

I think they said it meant nothing as a plausible album title.

And the unlocked item might be that bit of lyrics from Algorithm via bots.

It could be real, it could be not, but this certainly intrigues me.

  2. Uhm... uhm...

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWmn8Vgxn2J-WQ20QBU8vTA

I mean, MOYH did make a weird return on the SBE voting list so someone in the camp must have a soft spot for it.

But yeah, I’m fairly confident it’s all fake. Too easy to mock up and the line used for the header graphic is one of the ones you can already see in the deluxe preview pic. Why start a promo around Algorithm when Pressure’s the next song as well? Nah.

Pressure is the next official single, though. TDS wasn't, and still, it was released. The may do the same with another song or two, maybe...

  3. Listening back to all four songs I find The Dark Side a good song, not their best but way fa from their worse and a good compromise between the "new" and "old" sound. Thought Contagion is okay, could probably be worked better, it bores me sometimes. But what surprised me the most is that I actualy like Dig Down way more than Something Human.

I think DD just gets too much "hate", to be honest. Similarities to Madness aside, it's a more-than-okay song to me, now that I can listen to it together with the other singles (TDS included).

  4. Yeah so that was completely pointless. I was expecting this to be the interview where they discuss each track.

Maybe it's still too early, to be honest. I would expect a more detailed track-to-track insight after Pressure gets released.

  5. Okay so during the entire interview they had Muse instrumentals playing in the background, but in the last part the instrumental wasn't any known Muse song. It sounded a bit too generic to actually be Muse but might be interesting anyway so I'll upload that part separately.

Maybe it's to signal that the interview is about to end...?

  6. Okay so the interview is prerecorded from July and they're not even allowed to say the album title.

    Don't except much from this.

EDIT: Posted in the wrong thread, oh well.

Have you already listened to it? Because unfortunately I don't have iTunes...

  7. I like the verses of SH, especially when things pick up a bit more and it all gets a bit more groovy.

However I really hate the excessive pronunciation of HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUMAN, HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUMAN in the choruses. I mean, come on.

I really like that instead, because I think it goes so well with the synth sweeping sounds that rhythmically mirror it.

  8. New interview tomoz so presumably (hopefully) we’ll get some more detail on some of the other songs. Main ones I’m hoping for are The Void, BITM and GUAF, maybe some more on Blockades too.

    UD happened 9 years ago

Yeah, but while I still think UD was a nice attempt at making a downright R'n'B/synthpop song musically speaking, now it makes me cringe a little when I read its lyrics. "You may be a sinner / But your innocence is mine" is the worst offender regarding that for me, considering also the way Matt sings it. It really seems a pass taken from a teenage girl diary.

  9. Guys, I seriously need to vent about what I'm feeling for the upcoming album.

I don't know if it's because I'm in a really good mood today, or I'm going through an apparently unexplainable, stupid fanboy phase, but today, for the first time, I've listened to the four songs now available in a row and... God, despite their diversity they flow so incredibly well between each other it's almost unbelievable.

This alone, with TDS added in, it's incredibly, dangerously hyping me up for ST, even with my worries about the Timbaland track thrown in. Suddenly I feel like an enthusiastic teenager all over again, like when I was waiting for The Resistance (my first wait for a Muse album) to be released.

Like I said in the beginning, I know perhaps I'm coming across as a raging fanboy, but really, I don't know what's gotten to me.

I hope it will pass soon before I might get disappointed.

  10. Fantano is a joke. He gave 4/10 to the new Interpol album while it is one of their best efforts.

Don't really care about him, I just found it curious because in fact he has nearly always given Muse low scores in his reviews, even getting to the point of belittling and bashing them. Him saying a recent Muse song is decent is basically unique.

  11. Did everyone hear the official instrumentals that were posted to reddit? I wonder if that same leaker will eventually have instrumentals for the whole album.

Yep. They're great. As usual regarding Muse, there are many things sonically going on in all four mixes that are quite difficult (or almost impossible) to catch in the official versions, like the arpeggios during DD last chorus and coda, the keys mirroring the vocal main line during TC refrain and the saturated bass in TDS.

  12. How about Timbaland's "The Way I Are" off of shock value for a beat? I feel like it might go a bit with the album because of how electronic it is

In fact, the electronic style isn't what bothers me (I love TDS so, so much), but the perspective we might get Timbaland's vocals shoe-horned into the song, like he did with the Zayn's one. No, thanks.

But now I also looked up and saw that Lopez and Vindver are Latin music musicians who play acoustic guitar, keyboards and percussions.

Considering that Matt claimed there would be two acoustic driven tracks in ST, this might be "the heavier one" he mentioned back then, so... that's a thought that actually gives me a bit of relief.

  13. You've actually told the truth, Rob.

Jesus f**king Christ... This won't just be a simple matter of production, it's an all-around collaboration potentially sounding like Chris Cornell's Part Of Me.

That's an effing nightmarish perspective to me, but I'll try to judge only after listening to it...

  14. Seems Propaganda will be the poppiest track of the album, featuring Timbaland., Angel Lopez & Federico Vindver (credited as writers along with Matt)

Good news is, none of the other tracks have them. So this may just be a one off

Wha-...Where did you read that? Is this a joke?

  15. I like the song overall but part of me thinks our standards have been lowered. If this is the synth rock Motp-like song then it doesn’t compare. I didn’t think I would but still.

Am I alone on thinking that although this is ok-good, next to MOTP this is a pile of shit?

I’ll stress I didn’t expect it to compare or top it because motp is a top ten all time Muse song imo.

I'd argue MOTP is way more repetitive than this new one, and what makes it stand out is mainly its particular sound.

Shortly speaking, to me it's quite overrated, aside from its lyrics.
