  1. Haha. Well, it was much lighter than the MA-2, but I think it is thinner. Anyway, the wood is supposed to be alder, also that is what I thought after seeing the first picture they sent. Anyway, it had great sustain and clarity, and sounds extremely close to the MA, I don't think I could hear any difference in a blind test. The playability was as expected when it comes to fretwork, but the neck itself feels great!
  2. Hehe. I compared the neck to the MA, and it has a slight different profile. Would expect that though, but the MAs are also different compared to the original MBs. Anyway, the neck blew me away. It was stunning, and had the smooth and fluid feel of the MA. I wonder if the factory have access to one of the MB replicas or an MA. Just left the guitar with the tech, and he is going to check through the electronics, wire up the kill switch, and do some fine tuning on neck, frets, nut etc. He´ll be finished early next week, so I can't wait to try it! PS: Midi XY pad hasnt arrived yet. Will probably install it once it arrives.
  3. It has arrived! (or did yesterday) My first impression was the weight! It was super light, but it has a large cavity though. Anyway! It sounded (suprisingly) quite okay! Real pickups, and the bridge pickup sounded better than my schecter hellraiser (nuff said). Although the "single coil" in the neck (which was a mini humbucker) sounded like an old stratocaster wired up to a teapot under water. Anyway, I stripped it down and installed the fsk 401, the HAP tuners and the MBK-2. After I completed wiring and built it back together it sounded GR8! The mbk-2 deserves a salute because it transformed it into a beast! Also, no feedback or fuzz. All cavities are shielded with conductive paint (!) and their wire-work was quite nice, although I removed it all anway, off to the tech now to be fine tuned and checked! (pics of it next to the MA-2)
  4. Ye, out of the box I expect the chinese one to be a total mess. I will probably dismantle it as soon as it enters the door. Will need to plug it in for comparison though.
  5. So until november (when midi carbon arrives) ill have this china space thing to fool around with
  6. Lol appreciate that. And well, the customs takes up to a year, I just wanted something fast and easy. Wanna get my hands dirty
  7. Yes but money isnt really the issue here. I would have bought the Cort anyway since its a signature. I already have an MA-2, and also a custom beeing made in Exeter. The chinese one is as mentioned just for curiosity and experience. It'll be a cool guitar i wont have to be too careful with
  8. Why would you hope its a melon/lemon for me? If I understand you right you wish that my guitar turns out like crap? Thats just mean And I bet you´d be very interested in my views on the Cort..
  9. Thank you for the tips and yes I will be using the cables from the FSK 410 kit and I've already found a new 3 way ill use. The tech will do the final check I think, fixing frets, neck and fine tuning. And with the kill switch, i think ill stick to the Arcade style one for noe but good idea though :-) And to musecasters, im doing this as a project and I wish to learn more abt guitars whilst sharing my progress and experiences with this forum. Why would I ebay the guitar away to get the Cort, which by the way is pre ordered.
  10. I read somewhere that they were MBK-2s without the cover. Maybe I just dreamt:happy:
  11. It said they're only available as right handed. Maybe they'll make some in the future, but isnt a MB signature supposed to only be right handed since Matt is right handed? Like the Kurt Cobain signatures that are left handed.
  12. Well, the guitar itself is already shipped and some of the electronics as well, but it also depends on when manson ships the tuners and pickup, but I reckon it'll be ready in a month (ultimate maximum). Also depends on what time I have on my hands considering im a student. But ill definately consider making a video
  13. Well we all have our preferences I wanted this kind of "space" look, I suppose they´ve somewhat achieved it. Considering the cheap hardware they´ve used and the "chinese" reputation Im not expecting a decent guitar. I have purchased the electronics and hardware I think is required to achieve a "decent" guitar, and I also know a tech who is willing to help me setting it up. But anyway, lets hope it proves to be better than the expectations.
  14. Matt uses different kinds of pickups but I´m assuming you are referring to the MBK-2 bridge which he uses the most. The MBK-2 is a high gain output pickup and after what I´ve seen and heard in the video I´m assuming Hugh and the team were aiming to produce a pickup that delivers high outputs. Also I think the "crispness" and diversity of the MBC pickup reminds me a lot of the MBK-2 but also resembles the seymour duncan which he also uses. But I haven't played it myself so I´m only assuming based on what I´ve seen so far. Anyway, I have pre-ordered it and I won't change the pickups.
  15. Ah arright! I dunno, they're very bad at english, they use "pre written" messages they just paste into the e-mail when I ask them something. So they'll probably just paste one of those we apologise messages Anyway, I think I've kind of fallen in love with the arcade style button. Will go well with the XY pad in my opinion. But however, if I want the standard one Ill just purchase it. No biggie. However lets pray the hole isnt like 30mm wide
  16. Haha exactly what I thought as well. Should've been orange tho xD
  17. Yes I mentioned that earlier. I just fear that the hole they've drilled for this one is too large to fit the ones used on manson guitars. Maybe Ill just have to stick with this one Lol im not sure if I understand your sense of humor. But I think ill tune it myself if it arrives untuned.
  18. It is done! Looks awesome. Need new nut though xD
  19. Yes. The only purchase I have made so far is the FSK-401. Cost me 200£ in the US. Which makes the total cost 650£ for the guitar. Additional upgrades would cost abt 300 (midipad, tuners and MBK-2). Which adds up to about 1000. The cost of an EVO.
  20. I told them to send me an additional 3-way switch so that I can change it. Anyway, ill order an XY pad as soon as I get confirmed that the requierments are met (measurements etc). In my opinion it turned out cool. I got the "space" look I was hoping for :-) Anyway. If it turns out to be decent to play I will upgrade the hardware, which includes: MBK-2 Pickup for the bridge FSK-401 sustainer kit XY-midi pad(!) New tuners (HAP 510 probably) Custom alu. knobs Another kill switch that isnt hug(h)e. However, if the hole for it is too large ill just make it my thing like Bs suggested. Also when it is that large I can like "slap" it with the palm of my hand instead of pushing it with the fingertips.
  21. The last pic I received from them. Looks finished if you ask me. Hopefully they will ship it soon. Btw. the push button kill switch was kinda... big. But ill just install one myself when it arrives
  22. Hmm alright. I see manson sells the HAP's for 100£. Perhaps I will purchase them, but I will wait until I have received the guitar in order to see how much I'm willing to spend. If it turns out to be decent I might spend some more on hardware/tuners etc.
  23. If anyone is interested in purchasing a MA-2 Blackbird (with FSK 101 sustainer) give me a word. See photos on the norwegian "eBay" HERE Feel free to come with offers. Im not interested in trading though (unless its another Manson). Btw. sorry for not dusting off the guitar before taking photos
