  1. I don't think the problem has ever been that they are playing new material, it is more the second bit.

Then when you do look at songs they have brought back from previous albums, especially from The Resistance I don't feel these songs reflect Muse's back catalogue well at all (the last tour had Unintended, Feeling Good, Blackout, Guiding Light, Resistance, Undisclosed Desires all in the same set).

Honestly I thought the T2L arena tour had it perfect. It's such a small thing but having the Host intro to TIRO and Falling Down is a nice little nod to the hardcore fans whilst still playing a good chunk of the album and the big hits as well as heavy songs like the SS/NB roulette.

If they cut 2 different songs from the standard 8 or 9 big hits they play every night and add 1 song from Showbiz and another random deep cut/b side the sets would be perfect imo

  2. I don't know whether this post has any legitimacy or not (it's still a bit early in the morning for me) but I wonder if the setlist picker(?!) realises how important OOS and especially Abso/BH&R are to Muse being an arena and stadium band at present. By 2006 they could easily support the sort of UK tour they are doing now (although am aware they hadn't been such a big hit in the US) on the basis of three rock albums that went down brilliantly live, including the deep cuts.

BUT If The Resistance and T2L had been their 3rd and 4th albums, and they were trying to build their way into arenas with songs like UD, Resistance, Supremacy and Madness, I doubt they would have made it so quickly. As has been said on here, even the more casual fans don't really give a shit about those songs live (except maybe for "Oh Madness I know this one"). If you take them out of the gig, it doesn't really lose anything.

This might be my most stupid post on here ever and I guess I don't really have a point apart from to say they should play AP, TSP, S4A and Assassin more often, but hey.

As much as I think you're right in some aspects, any band will want to tour their newest material. I'm sure Muse don't see themselves as a band that have nothing to offer anymore in terms of new music and just tour the same set for 10 years. And songs like TSP weren't even staples during Abso's tour tbh.

I'd much rather they take all the songs they play every night such as TIRO, KOC, Starlight, SMBH, PiB, Hysteria, Madness, Uprising and only play 60% of those each songs at one gig to keep sets fresh, maybe you miss one hit song but you still get 4 or 5 others, allowing for big hits to be played and some more focus on the current albums they're touring and 1 deep cut each night.

  3. Considering Matt said he wasn't sure if The Globalist was going to make the album unless it turned out right, after he talked about it on Twitter and in an article, I would assume they had a back up plan that didn't mean leaving the album 13 minutes shorter.

I would assume they just don't spend time on the songs unless they feel like they have to, like one didn't work out or something.

It depends at what time in the album making process they had doubts about The Globalist, I imagine before they go into the studio they know what songs they want to record properly for an album. Any b sides they could release would probably be like Who Knows Who in quality, just home recordings.

  4. People replace the audio of crappy youtube videos, or just random videos all the time.

(people in the comments are even calling the video fake...)

It's really not that weird and I don't know why people ruled out the possibility because apparently miming was more likely? Eh, no.

Putting a live performance video over a live lounge audio is a bit different to putting night 1s audio over night 2s video. With the plug in baby video its so obvious to everyone whereas the Handler is more like trying to pass the video off as not being edited, even if they didn't mean to accuse Matt of miming.

  5. Is that from the first or second night?

I don't know I just tried to see what Morgan was doing for this part

It's not possible to tell from this video.

I assume you're referring to his pick hand not moving, but this solo is all done with hammer-ons and pull-offs. There is no picking required.

You can see Morgan doesn't have a guitar strapped on, and you can see him picking something up at the beginning of the solo.

Also we're talking about the little lead line before the solo when you do need to pick, even if he was hammering/pulling off he's not even on the right frets for that part

  6. I know that looking at that evidence points to a backing track. I'm just thinking logically why would he do it? And because he makes a mistake half way through the song how hard would it be to fade in a backing track for the solo section without it being really jarring and no-one noticing at the show? He's played the song at almost all if not every gig since download...

I know how it looks but I from Matt's standpoint there's no reason to do it, I know that guy made a joke in twitter about him always messing up the solo but he took that as a joke right? I think we need more clips instead of just this one

  7. Think the guitar is live barre the solo though, even looks like he turns the volume knob down before starting the solo but he might be turning it up i'm not sure

He's turning on the sustainer pickup

For one I don't think he's miming, I think if he was he would be trying harder to mask it or something. IDK really but it seems mental for him to mime the song since he's been playing it since the album came out

  8. OT: people were talking about the "fitness" interview the other night chatting about the gig; I just ran across it. http://www.deejay.it/news/nikki-intervista-i-muse-la-tv-offre-connessioni-superficiali/435726/?ref=fbpj

I don't know if anyones mentioned it (haven't read all the way through the last pages since the gigs started but Matt is talking about having "friendly" and "menacing" types of the drones for the show. The way Matt says they might use "friendly" ones points to two types of drones for the show and maybe country by country depending on the H&S rules they will choose between the two types.

Again i don't know if this is old news but because people were complaining about the drones this might explain it :D

  9. Videos show that matt did play the solo of Dead Inside (with a reeeeealllyyyyy weird set up of the guitar), and take the guitar on the solo of Uprising until the end.

For Dead Inside the guitar is fitted to a stand, you can tell at the end of solo because he just walks away from it
