  1. I said this months ago and people gave me shit for trying to make it widely requested. Even if you’re not going to the request gig getting a pro shot of this would be mega.

I may have even made it it’s own thread can’t remember. But after Futurism came out of no where when a forum thread requested it and then I did the same for Glorious and it comes around I’d say decent shot the band reads the forums sometimes. Which was the point of those threads.

No one here gave you shit for it :p people just prioritized other songs that they wanted to hear more. But Shrinking Universe obviously goes up in rank once the others have been played. Personally wouldn't vote for Eternally Missed for example if I had the chance. Or SFA.

  2. I remember being on holiday with my parents in France during USoE release. We had some real shitty rural internet but I just about managed to buffer and capture each bit on a clapped out old laptop and string the bits together in my spare time. That was fun.

Yeah I was on vacation with shitty rural internet as well actually. Took ages to load it, and I listened with my old iPhone 3G and headphones.

  3. I’ll have been 13 back then, a real wee babby, but wasn’t actively following the build-up online sadly (or fortunately?). Too busy still discovering alllll of the back catalogue.

Even Drones though, I was...19? Just finished my first year of uni. Helps that you have to do a lot of growing up in those years but still, seems like aaaages ago :chuckle: just a nice feeling to be at that point where you have these descriptions but still have to form all these expectations in your imagination before it’s all set in stone and you have it in front of you, like the album’s whatever you want it to be for a few more days

I gave it a brief ‘huh’ and kept reading :chuckle: not really that surprised after some of the stuff that popped up on the SBE voting list

I mean it’s decent but I feel we should have higher priorities

Even COD has drawn two blanks so far :noey:

Man, if we got CoD any time between 2012 and 2017 we could have gotten at least one belted chorus out of it. Will be interesting to see what 2019 brings in terms of Matt's voice. At least he seems to focus on songwriting that isn't based on high notes keeping us interested, which forces him to rethink his songwriting a bit.

Tove Lo, eh? Could be... interesting.

No rarities remains a disappointment though. But not unexpected, clearly, even if I imagine one or two will surface.

Oh yeah. That was a fascinating track to unveil gradually, to say nothing of the Collateral Damage outro on top.

Like Kueller said a while back I think the request gigs has made Muse not really care for playing rarities at normal gigs at all.
  4. Some things I found interesting:

How are they gonna do Get Up And Fight live then? Is Tove Lo gonna tour with them or are they gonna use playback? Or just not play it?

And Dig Down was changed to fit the album...meaning they actually had the album planned from the very start?

  5. MYROCK Magazine Review (Translated from French)

Upon seeing the artwork of Muse's eighth album, we think that we are gonna listen to the soundtrack of their lives. Which is what happens, with «Algorithm», between pop, electro, and opera rock, that sounds straight out of a sci-fi movie. No songs sound like one another, except in the whole 80s feeling (Thought Contagion, The Dark Side). With a less present guitar than in past works, we could think that the band has completly changed. But some sonorities present on this album were already kind of present in Knights of Cydonia, Bliss and Easily. A madness more than ten years in the works. Notable mentions are Pressure, an explosive track, and Blockades, a melting pot of the very best of Muse. Regarding The Void as a closer, it offers the public a structure that's similar of those of previous albums, between softness and epicness. 17/20.

A mod on the Panic Station discord wanted people not to share it to keep it "exclusive" and I say fuck that nonsense.

Translated by someone called Cydonian, to give credits where they are due.

  6. So apparently Tove sings the majority of the high notes because Matt was concerned he couldn't hit them without "screaming"

Fair assessment of his own ability though. By listening to some women singing Muse songs I've actually realised how (while I love(d) Matt's voice) some of his melodies come out better when sung by someone who can actually give it some room to shine as opposed to just being "hit". And I've waited so long for a version of Ruled By Secrecy where someone belts the whole ending and doesn't have to switch to falsetto and ruin the whole buildup:

    So damn satisfying.

  7.

Yet they were the first (and only) who made the connection with this scene from the Gremlins game and Lance Drake liked the post and followed them soon after it. Plus the whole "Teignville 1984" thing. The point is not who gets the info first, all news pages post the same stuff... it's what they make with it, which in their case is engaging original content, like the track lenght video they just made. :D

Well you said that they clearly had insider info about Pressure and I'm showing you that they got it from official, public sources. They did loads of theorizing though. Same with the gremlins thing. That was already on the cover art. And the Teignville 1984 thing only became a thing after Matt had revealed that they were redoing their battle of the bands. Or are you referring to something else?
  8. Dude, I registered because I was alerted by a Reddit post that tracklenghts are out and I wanted to keep an eye out for leaks. I come here and see you talking shit about an account I follow and feel like defending, my apologies for daring to voice my opinion on the matter. You're all here spewing yours, thought mine wouldn't matter... but since my opinion happens to differ from yours, I'm not welcome and/or I must be lying. Okay.

Reminds me of why I fucking hate Muse fans.

I think you need to chill out a bit. There's a lot of strange leaps here.

Btw I haven't been keeping up with the timeline to know about what "inside" info came out when in regards to Pressure, but the Algorithm lyrics that were posted by the Algorithm squad were literally just from the released artwork, were they not? They were up both here and on reddit the second the artwork was released.

  9. When did I express any sort of hatred? And it's pretty clear that you, someone who just registered for this specific discussion is one of the people in the group.

Btw Takeabow19 was a member here for years, AND he told us his real name, so not sure how that's comparable. When did people think he was Tom? Feels like a twitter thing.

  10. They say that they came clean about not being official as soon as people started thinking they were but that's obviously not true. They waited just long enough to get a following because they knew people wouldn't be interested if they said they were just fans from the start. At least that's how I see it.
