  1. It's good you've got it sorted now! :D

I'm doing Two Psych papers, a Stats one (towards the Psych major), two Maths ones, a Philosophy paper, a Film paper and a Music Composition paper :awesome:

Took freaking long enough... And Studylink won't hurry up and approve my damn application :phu:

Originally I had two maths papers because maths was my major, but then I pulled out of that because I thought I'd never be able to do it :chuckle: now I only have stats because it's compulsory! :awesome:

  2. I actually considered taking a POLS course, because after reading up on a bit of politics I found it quite interesting, but in the end I decided against it as I was already having trouble getting a final list of courses together

I definitely need to get thinking about who to vote for and what not, though. Also, I read on the VUWSA site that there is a Workers' Party group you can join during Clubs Week! :awesome:

I've got 6 subjects across my 8 papers for the year from almost entirely unrelated subjects  the only slightly similar ones are geography and earth science... Then there's psychology, statistics, english and philosophy... Still, my majors are now officially psych and geography

  3. I totally am going to go sit in on some of the Political Science lectures this year. Apparently some MPs go in and talk to them seeing it's election year.

I would go and sit in the politics lectures, but I'd just be bored crapless  the planning bit of geography is about as close as I get to politics, and even then, it's hardly politics...

  4. The worse winters of my life were in Dunedin.

Neither National or Labour have any good ideas at the moment...we're fucked.

I don't like Phil Goff, but I'm not going to be voting National. Looks like a minority party is getting my vote this year! :awesome:

  5. That's a shame. I've never actually seen them, but I'd heard they were quite good live.

It is hard to find! It's on the opposite site of the Boiler Room from the Green/Essential stages - sort of up a bit of a slope, just past a bunch of food stalls. Right next to where they give out the drinking-age armband things.

They probably aren't too bad, but a) I was in front of the blue stage, not orange and b) I don't like their style of music. Even the crowd in front of the orange stage didn't seem too lively for them. I remember meeting a girl during Kora though :yesey:

I see... I never went up that side, I don't think. For all I know, I could've walked straight past it and not known  that room next to Silent Disco (that white dome thing) really confused me... I could not figure out the purpose of it :wtf:

  6. Good thing it's not so bad today, yet anyway. I keep looking at the forecast for Friday of course. It has improved slightly from a dark rainy cloud to a lighter rainy cloud (occasional showers), so here's hoping it improves some more.

I remember it was meant to pour down at the BDO last year. All it did was lightly drizzle during Lily Allen, and that was it :p

Oh, they've just replaced them with Kora. Cool.

I thought Kora were quite bad last year, to be honest :erm: it seemed to be 45 minutes of the same song played over and over. They didn't really get the crowd going either...

I notice Andrew WK is on the timetable twice for the BDO - Green Stage, then Lilyworld. :erm: Once is surely enough. More than enough, really.

Where was Lilyworld? I couldn't find it at all

  7. I don't think it was any different to doing it as BSC, at least not until post grad. Then I think there was a slight difference in what compulsory courses you had, though I'm not really sure as I didn't go that far.

Ah, I see... Thanks! I couldn't understand the damn booklet they gave me so I couldn't figure out if they were the same or not. I'm not sure if I'll do it under a BA or BSc yet, I'm figuring out what I want my second major as tonight...

    Oh congrats! :D

    Churr! :awesome:

  8. Oren did Geography under a BA, he might tell you what it's like. I had a friend who did Geography on a BSc, her ambition when she finally finished it was to go on the dole for last semester to stay in Dunedin while everyone else finished their Honours/Double Degrees.

Ah, that's cool. All I want to know is if it's any different from a BSc. If not, I might do something like biotechnology...

 that's a clever idea! She might've even got a fair bit of money out of that too :p

  9. That's what I thought when you said about the major. I think you'd be better concentrating on the degree you do want and then looking at doing Honours/Postgrad stuff on that. Take a BA paper or two as interest if you want.

I have a couple friends who have double degrees (BSc or BA's with BComs) and it made very little difference to anything. Think they just wanted an extra year at Otago.

The only thing that I could really get out of it is to do geography under a BA and something that leads to a different kind of career under a BSc.

I need to talk to my sister anyway, she's doing geography at uni too so I can see if it's worth doing it under a BA.

  10. Why are you doing a BA and a BSc?

To be honest, I'm not even sure why. I was going to pull out and go to just a BSc, but everyone else is telling me to stay in. thing is, I need a major for my BA, and I don't really want to do any of them...

  11. Ah that sucks. So now what?

    As below...

    Sorry to hear that too.

    Thanks :)

It turns out that I did get accepted into my course anyway, despite the fact I didn't even get the pre-requisites, wtf university.

I was all determined to drop back to just a normal BSc, and then they tell me I was still alright to go in my BA/BSc course. now I need to decide my major for my BA because there's no way I'm sticking with maths...

  12. To be honest I can't even remember. That's how much it will mean to you in your later years.

I do remember my twin brother being livid when we got the paper results and it showed I failed the Statistics exam even worse than he did but was scaled up higher than he was based on the internals.

Ah, fair enough. I don't plan to ever remember these ones, I don't want to!

I've never particularly done well in the proper exams anyway. My teachers understand my blabbing, exam markers never seem to because they're not meant to pick out answers like teachers do at school. It sucks :(

    Did you at least pass?

I'd passed going into the exams anyway, but I didn't make it into my course... :(

  13. I don't think you have to answer every question for Chem. 3/4 usually for an Achieved, and only the first part of the question.

Nah, the new system is that you get one whole mark for a question (they changed it...again). You need basically all the criteria to get said mark for a question.

My only hope is that they've done the whole 'xx OR yy OR zz' thing.

  14. Ah, you'll do fine!

I know I'm one of those people that freak out about marks, thinking I won't do that well and all... But this time, I actually have a serious concern. I need 31 more credits to get into my course, and in the exams, I did enough papers to get me about 40 credits...

I'm not confident on any of my chemistry papers because of how they mark it (i.e. you need to answer every question to pass, and I only answered parts), and that's 15 credits down the drain :erm:
