  1. did you ever try the purple honey ones? they were horrible. it was like a normal cherrio with a honey aftertaste.

Oh my word, those ones were truly terrible. :stunned: I really fail to understand how things like that manage to get sold in shops

I have to say I don't miss New Zealand. Which to me, is really unusual and a hard thing to accept. Compared to when I was out here last, I just wanted to go home and hated England.

I hope that's not the case for me :(

  2. That doesn't excite me much. Hoping for Arcade Fire and Marina and the Diamonds, though. Would definitely go if they're playing.

Oh, I'd definitely go for Arcade Fire. It's a pity Florence never ended up performing at the BDO, and I also didn't go to her gig here (because tickets were $100! They only have on album...) :(

  3. would any of you consider a tamarillo as a kiwi food icon?

Perhaps, but it's hardly raved about here anymore :erm: I tried one once and didn't like it

Related to tamarilloes though, I had no idea that beef bourguignon had tamarillo in it

  4. How did I miss in the budget that National are limiting student loans?!

Universities are all capping their numbers now, they don't need to give out as many loans, so why on earth would they limit student loans?! There is no logic in that. If there are less people going to uni, there are going to be less loans, duh...

And new permanent residents will have to have lived here for 2 years before being able to take out a loan? Fuck off National.

Only positive I can see in that is that it might stop all the international students that abuse our system because we have relatively cheap university compared to other countries, but other than that, that's downright unfair for most people who move here from overseas to start a new life or whatever...

    Oh dear

  5. Isn't that what they've always done, though?

Perform 150% but have crap setlists, or make setlists according to the keys of songs?

They used to perform 200% and have good, climatic setlists with a good balance of slow and :\mm/:, now they've kind of made slow > :\mm/:... :supersad:

As for the making a setlist from the key it's in, nah, they used to be quite rotational on what songs they used to open with, where the piano section was and what songs were in the encore... Now Muse keep the same basic setlist structure :erm:

  6. For a moment, I thought there was a glimmer of hope that Muse's live performances were getting better. Three gigs later, I realised they were simply back to their old dull gigs.

The band can perform at 150%; Matt, Dom and Chris could have discussions with the crowd; if the songs they're playing are slow and crap though, you cannot have a great gig.

You also cannot get a crowd going by playing GL and NSC before Bliss, and follow Bliss with USoE, FG and UD. Sure, it makes Bliss seem even more brilliant, but for God's sake, Muse need some fucking lessons on creating proper order in their setlists. Putting a song one after the other because the keys are the songs are in slightly correspond is a pathetic reason.

  7. Ooh, fragrant pens. I think you may have something there.

One thing I've learned in my year and a half in this job is that TVNZ staff are quite aggressive lift-enterers. You arrive at a floor and the doors open and BAM! There's a guy already halfway in.

I don't know what it is, but every time I go into a hospital, everyone is so shovey!

I mean, the lift isn't going anywhere fast, but people always find the need to shove past me

  8. ROAD TRIP! *sigh* sometimes i love this city :D

And yes, they do seem to do better with a stripped down show....they seem more relaxed and have more freedom to move around.

:'( I want to do a road trip, but there's no friends around here that I want to bring to the concert, as snobbish as it sounds... They're all those 'fans' that 'love' Muse, but will constantly ask me during every song what the song is, or comment that it's awesome or something. I learnt at the BDO that being alone at a gig is still fucking amazing

They played a stripped down show in Christchurch last time (I think), but I don't see them playing there again :(

It would be kinda nice to see the pillars in real life though:p But are they still using the pillars for the rest of their shows?

i thought they had they big flashy light box thing that blinds everyone now?

Yeah, they've said several times that they're doing the show they "did in Europe and the US" over here too, and one interview specifically says they're bringing the same set, I think. The difference is we get all the songs they play at the stadium gigs and so on :awesome:

My friend took this photo from the Press:

Two different articles, but the layout is so perfect :chuckle:

Those kinds of things make me wonder if they intentionally do it :p

  9. thats what i thought as well...argh lucky, my last ones on the 29th so im cutting it close:eek:

You live in Auckland though, you'll be fine :p I live 7 hours away from Auckland...

the prices in australia are $100-120 - don't know if it would be cheaper considering they're unlikely to bring full stages over here or about the same or more due to exchange rates. i thought paying $40 back in 2004 was a lot. was supposed to see them in the netherlands in a few weeks but it's 60 euros and there's so much better stuff i could do with that money.

I'm actually hoping they do what quite a few bands do - not bring the full stage design, and have a bit of a stripped down show. If history is anything to say, Muse do better with stripped down shows rather than a proper arena gig... I doubt that though, we'll have the fucking pillars :noey:

I'm guessing it'll be $120-ish here, that's still fucking expensive though.

  10. Thats what i thought as well....im just hoping its after november so it doesn't clash w/ my exams. :(

If they play here before or after the Aus dates, the first date is 5th December in Brisbane, I don't see why they'd decide to announce a date WAY earlier and spend ages in New Zealand... Even then, they'd have to spend a week and a bit here for it to clash with any of my NCEA exams :p

  11. So you guys, Australia but no New Zealand?

Although if you want some hope, they usually always announce Australia first and NZ as an afterthought.

Meh, there's no point in getting my hopes up for it. 'snot like I wanted to see them anyway :phu:

    :supersad:

  12. I think they have gigs on any day of the week - just looking over the upcoming ones, John Mayer is on a Wednesday, for example.

Muse and the Vector Arena-thief Justin Timberlake were both on Friday in 2007.

One of my most vivid memories of being down south in 2007 was seeing the Muse poster in Christchurch and being all :supersad: at the fact I couldn't go... Then I remember the interview with Matt the night of the gig on the TV, and Matt hated on Justin Timberlake also :awesome:

Are they going to play at Vector? I preferred Trusts' Stadium. Which reminds me that I should probably officially resign from Vector some time.

I'm guessing they'll play there, seeing most big acts seem to be doing so these days...

 the way you put that was lulzy, just like, "oh, yeah, I gotta remember to properly quit from my job..." :chuckle:
