Please update us) Noor Tee Nawkaz Grace (GraySea) Melwhoops + sis - Balc Joelyn - Balc  Unfortunately sitting this one out ...support group in the midst of formation Shannaz? Aida? Liz? Faz? Kay-a? musebrat?
  2. I gotta go to Amcorp mall soon, I'm looking for old vinyls! I've also heard a lot about that welcome aquarium too  Yeah bought Andrew Bird + The Killers dy, but no Muse My course has shrunk significantly since three years ago.. lol so no chance of replacing. I talked to my lecturer earlier this week about my coursework dilemma (told him I had to be MIA for an urgent matter ) he didn't seem very pleased, but agreed to let me bring forth my workload for ONE week (only, meh). I don't even know if I would be able to cope, but sigh there are little things in life that you should always appreciate (taking the cue from Zombieland)!  My Muse chapter hasn't closed yet, still under heavy dileberation because I have a few friends who can't make it unless I go too and I don't want to rob them of watching Muse live!    For sho! Likewise you guys have to give detailed reports from the Muse gig! =D   We gotta address this to the concert promoters in Malaysia actually, to convince that bringing Muse over is a bloody good investment!     I remember reading the BM version of Famous Five!! Wow, I wonder if they still have those. The Faraway Tree series would be my fav Enid Blyton story, I think... I thought the same too, and I was sceptical towards Road Dahl for months after finding out about Enid being a woman lol.     Oh, you'll be up for quite an adventure!!  Hmm, you could try Super Hub somewhere in Bugis/Arab St if you don't mind being crammed up for one night. The host there is insanely friendly and he'll even provide you with a map and exact directions (which bus to take etc) to anywhere in SG. It might not be advisable for light sleepers and claustrophobics but it's a pretty fair bargain for what you pay for, plus if you're a foreigner (yup, Malaysians included) you get a special price when you present your passport (the offer may have expired though...) Or you could stay up all night with other Musers, that's an option too   I haven't heard from Paul in ages have you? Well we could easily get the rumour mill running so perhaps the concert organizers would finally take action in order to book Muse before their competitors (within Msia) does!
  3. So I'm running late for class but... Â I didn't spend 36 hours straight studying, I spent 36 hours after my exam partying which included a night time screening of Avatar hence the crazy night/morning. I swear, the whole day after that movie I half expected larger versions of blue smurfs jumping out from the lalang/hedges. Â Which channel were you listening to Joelyn? Had to do a quick google search for Muse's Malaysian gig in March (though only wishful thinking at this point lol) the only relevant page I could find was a facebook page asking for a Malaysian Muse 2010 date. Oh I hope it would be true!
  4. On that final day of my exam, I was awake for more than 36 hours lol. It was a really really crazy night/morning Too bad it's not the last time though, there's still more papers to take next year. Sigh. You can get the books in our library If you don't feel like buying 1984 (although I have to say, it's a good Muse-related investment lol) you can always borrow from TARC. Are they still charging ridiculous prices for alumni btw? Well, if the deposit's still really ridiculous, just let me know, I can borrow it for you for two weeks Persuasion's about this girl who broke off her engagement with Captain Wentworth under the persuasion of her friends. A decade later he returns with a loadful of money but she's sure that he's moved on already. You know what happens next lol. Speaking of classics, I think Jane Eyre was a really good read too, although the age gap between the two lovers was boderline paedophile haha. Nooo :'( I will not be able to go for BNO. Travelling twice to sg in 10 days would be a little time consuming and not environmental friendly so if I do intend to go, I would rather stay in sg for 10 days (perhaps even attending that rather interesting sounding jamming session the sg musers have planned ) It will also be week 7-8 of my semester, and you know how busy we'll be with coursework/midterms during that time huurrr. So The Killers and Andrew Bird will have to be damn bloody awesome to make sure I don't get too hung up over missing Muse. Sigh. (Seems pretty unlikely though, I really wanna hear MK Ultra live!! )
  5. 2-3 days I lagi visit the forum, actually lol. What's your desk telephone number? I'll call you and we can talk there LOL. Or do they record the conversations? Hahaha imagine if we go: "Hello, welcome to Westin (or was it Eastin? lol sorry I keep getting both of that confused ) Hotel!" "Hi, may I ask if you have a special Muse suite?" "Muse suite?" "Yes, a suite filled with Muse-ic!" "Oh, THAT suite! Why yes, we do! We even have the Uprising bears as wallpaper in that room." "No kidding! Well does it come with Muse breakfast?" "For sure! We even provide sunblock at the start of the day before you leave your suite in case you get sunburn-t walking under this Malaysian weather. There's also a special chauffeur service available for you, miss. He will escort you to the notable Ikan Bakar Bellamy for dinner which is located along Jalan Bellamy." etc... Can you tell that the exams have done something to my brain? Yeaaahh I watched it Wednesday night, right after my final paper which ended at 7pm. I could've been a little tipsy when I watched Avatar, or perhaps it was all the brain power drained out from exams, but the first 5 minutes of the movie gave me a headache. Lol I think I was just extremely tired at that time, and I was expecting a laid back, easy going movie but BAMM! Avatar just wouldn't let you lie back for even a second! It's so insane to have anyone come up with a planet such as that. The whole "connection" talk was pretty impressive too. It's definitely worth whatever you'll be paying for. Just make sure you go in with a well rested mind -------------------- About 1984, I love all George Orwell books (which is not much). Well, perhaps not love, but I've always enjoyed reading his views and thoughts of a communism-filled society. My parents read Animal Farm as part of their literature programme back when they were in high school and they had that old book lying around in my house. I picked it up and it truly gave me a different perspective. Over the study period, I picked up a lot of storybooks I usually wouldn't read. (I think I was procrastinating... I figured if I wasn't going to read my books, at least I'm reading something..) I read one Amy Tan book and that was so freakin' tragic. I love classics! Jane Austen's Persuasion would be my favourite I think, because the lead male's character is named Captain Wentworth lol Mr D'arcy is still the most delicious sounding character however. --------------------- Ah and finally, I got my new time table, and it sucks that most of my classes will be in the middle of the week. Horrible, horrible timing. I would dearly love to skip two weeks' worth but I'm afraid if I do I most certainly will not be able to cope with the workload anymore. Actually even skipping 3 days for The Killers and Andrew Bird will already give me a massive warning from my tutors, but *shrugs* it's Brandon Flowers!! If it's two weeks and I say, "it's MUUUUSEEE!!" but my lecturers will not be as forgiving I think. Hurrrr. :'( Make sure you guys give us a minute by minute update!!! lol or maybe just a phonecall? Hehe.
  6. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU!! Ok, that's all I can say for now ... no wait, let me just add that Avatar is crazy awesome mind-boggling stuff, safe for the plotline perhaps, a little too predictable but great character development and the 3D effects are just delicious. I'll reply to everyone later tonight
  7. *shakes fists* blah, it's no use lamenting over the gigs in SG. I'm moving there. End of story. Aww, you forgot taking exams. HURR. I was a FOOL to think I could manage 3 papers this time round. Back to back papers, at that. I've been up for so many hours I don't see the difference between daylight and night time any longer. I don't remember what it's like to sleep for more than 4 hours anymore. If I combine the fees (alone) for these three papers, I think I would be able to pre-order at least four of Muse's biggest Resistance package if I didn't spend so much on non-reality. Bleh. OK wait, so education is no longer reality but music and going for concerts would be reality? I really should get my priorities right. :-/ Hi Jolynn!! Long time no see
  8. Oooh if it's convenient for you, you should definitely drop by James Yorkston's gig No chance you can make it for Andrew Bird too? I'm not sure how the crowd will be for Andrew. I got the foyer stall seats, towards the right of the hall. I hope the person next to me can tolerate my obsession with hands... I can't wait to watch his crazy violin skills!! I don't know if my mid terms will be then. I know it's Muse and I would buy the tix in a heartbeat but and I'm already skipping 3 days the week before, in hopes that any one of my papers won't fall on those dates. My current procrastination run doesn't spell well for my exams coming up soon too - it's like I'm not even trying. I don't know why lah. How's your sister doing btw? She's taking ACCA too yeah? Perhaps HK would be a slightly better choice? It's on a weekend and the standing tix, despite being HK$580 after converting, will only come up to about RM255 max. Now, how much does an air ticket there cost... Edit: RM700 for return tickets, apparently. Not feasible. @Nawkaz I don't know if there's any other way to get the tix apart from Sistic. Is there an authorized agent there in Sarawak? You could try your luck in forums... sometimes people would sell their tix there because they can't make it. Hope it all goes well for you!
  9. Who sits in a Muse gig?!?!?!?! If was played, I don't think I'd care what anyone else thinks if I stood up haha. Gotta rock out to that opening riff! I don't think you'll have to worry about people sitting or standing really. Just... see how things work out, I suppose. You could try walking up to the barriers at the balcony and stand there, if the people in the first row don't mind. KOC was really insane. Went in fully prepared though, after that experience for Megalomaniac during Incubus' opening number. The trick is to go in with a group of friends and stand near couples cuddled closely together (if you don't mind their PDA). Even with proper preparations however, sometimes a circle pit can just happen out of the blue - evident during New Found Glory's Singfest gig. Brrr... I still get shivers thinking about it now. If you're in the mosh pit though, really, what's the fun if you don't join the crowd to jump and push a little? Anyway, I think the Killers and Andrew Bird will be the first time I would be seated (if you don't count that KL Linkin Park concert so many years ago), should be great fun observing everything and getting good acoustics
  10. As many times as I've seen the cover of Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment, it still makes me I just keep thinking about the Iggy Pop/David Bowie/Velvet Goldmine days Trying to put that aside though, as much as I think Adam did not do a horrible job covering Muse, I just can't take that guy seriously, unfortunately. He's talented, fo sho, but all this excessive publicity surrounding the recent AMAs, I think is unnecessary for him. It's kinda over shadowing his real talent, which is aplenty but now... I don't know, it's just funny for me because I find the whole shenanigan ridiculous. 2 rows that didn't exist... Hmmm, well, I guess sistic would do anything to cater for the demand! During the Oasis show, a lot of people stood near the barriers and my sister who was seated nicely in the first row got really pissed lol scolded them and in the end they sat on the floor I hope I can stand near the barriers during the Killers (which is half sold out already btw).. coz I'm just not used standing in one position... I guess we'll see how things turn out in the end!
  11. Alright, so I'll just make a list of those confirmed going. (Just because I'm looking for a reason to procrastinate...) Sorry if I left anyone out. Please let me know and I'll edit this CONFIRMED. Miele - Pen A Nut - Pen A Lya - Terrace Debbie - Balc Almost confirmed (In the midst of getting the tix? ) Noor Tee Nawkaz Grace (GraySea) Mel Unfortunately sitting this one out Shannaz? Aida? Liz? Faz? Kay-a? --------- Not being in the mosh pit isn't the last thing in the world... Sometimes it could be a good thing too. I totally agree that being all the way up front wouldn't be the best spot for acoustics. You'll only hear the raw sound coming out from the amps in front of you which has not gone through the process of blending together with the drums/bass etc. Having said all that though ... I think I would still rather pick mosh pit over anything It's just that feeling of realizing everyone cheering for Muse isn't all that different from you after all, despite coming from varying demographic backgrounds. Oh sorry I'm just confusing things... Oh Nut, been meaning to ask you this... you were seated at the terrace for Coldplay right? Did anyone walk up front to the barriers to stand or everyone just sat down quietly according to their tix?
  12. Noor, I don't think it'd be wise to take Option 1 because you'll keep your mom up waiting and she'll be worried should the gig go on for any longer than 1am, which is pretty likely seeing that rockstars are hardly punctual... If you're travelling alone, it's not too safe as well. If I did go to Singapore again for Muse (which I might, hvn't cut it off completely from my mind yet...) I don't think I would mind staying up with you at some 24 hour cafe/comfy place all through morning coz really, I'm used to that anyway lol. It'll be safer for you then to travel once it's about 6-7am perhaps because let's face it, I doubt after a Muse concert neither of us would be able to SLEEP! Haha, we'd be smiling to ourselves constantly all night long If they did play MK Ultra (I hope they do!!), I lagi cannot sleep. It'd probably be ringing in my ears for ages! Undisclosed Desires... it's such a good make out song lah, seriously I wasn't really aware of the video too until last week when I stumbled upon the link on youtube. Those wires dangling and twirling around look dangerous haha. RAH!!! Literally. Lol. Aww, it's a keytarrr! Thanks for the link Nut that was beautifulllll. Really tempting me to forgo all studies and focus only on attending gigs. Arrrgh.
  13. Musewiki hardly gets anything wrong though, correct? Well if Resistance is indeed the next single, I'm sure casual Muse fans (mainly because of Starlight) would rejoice.
  14. ^ My sentiments exactly. Rise Against & Saosin together seemed fine. When Saosin opened for Incubus, I raised my eyebrows a little, but it appears that there were actually fans who went there ONLY for Saosin and not Incubus! It's pretty amusing. I suppose LAMC pulled in acts of varying genres to really get more fans going for BNO. At the same time introducing more fans, I guess? I suppose a new Muse Saosin fan is better than a new Muse Twilight fan..if you catch my gist There was this one acoustic Saosin song that I liked. A looong time ago though haha I don't even remember what it's called anymore. I'm sure it'll be a fun night though, but for those standing in the pen/mosh pit, do take care! I love that a lot of Malaysians will be heading to Singapore for this. Perhaps an article about how Msian music fans have to fork out and contribute money to SG's tourism thus making their economic well-off could catch the local promoters here once and for all... OK I just got a muse for an article but I hate that I don't have time to write it! (Actually, I think an article like that probably has already been written :-/ ) That being said, I think I've decided (well, ok my decision might change during Christmas...) I would not be able to go for BNO. I'm already going for The Killers and Andrew Bird a week before Feb 3rd (getting in trouble for that as well), Muse would certainly make things worse for my deteriorating state and constant lack of time SIGH. P/S: I wouldn't say the Killers tix that we got are the cheapest, it's the most affordable one lol. The $168/148 ones are almost sold out though! :o
  15. Or.. should we go full on budget, get the $88 Terrace seats? I'm looking at the BNO seats as well, and the terrace seats are worth $128 for Muse! Edit: Link to BNO seating plan.
  16. ^ For sure, I would love to join the both of you I'm looking at the (new) seating plan, there's like so many different categories. The $128 ones sound pretty good actually. If we take $148 seats, I feel we should get the standing pen for the same price lol. Sigh. What say you?
  17. I wonder where I could find a shirt like that. Would love to custom make one with the Ash phoenix in the middle? Or would that be too corny... haha. Also, in that picture above...guh..his hands.. Delicious or what!
  18. @Lya I've yet to finalize my decision I hope lamc would finalize the lineup for BNO soon (with more international acts! Jimmy Eat World maybe?) so I could at least convince my parents to actually give me the green light to skip possible mid terms and travel down to Singapore twice in 10 days after The Killers and Andrew Bird. Then again, they've generally never approve of any of my Singapore trips. Arrgh. @Nut lol oh! I couldn't find the stadium in the map that I have, so I assumed it wasn't around that city hall area. It's not within walking distance with Esplanade though, right? @paraluman OMG. I should check tripadvisor myself first before recommending :X Perhaps those Fragrance branches are located near the red district area? Generally I think Singapore's still a pretty safe place though, yeah? Hangout (Rucksack Inn too) seems like a really convenient stay if the gig's at Fort Canning Park. Well if all else fails, there's always couchsurfing! @Tee I dunno if you've watched the Ash vid to Joy Kicks Darkness (you're in a Franz high after all ) but I simply adore that ♥ shirt of Tim's. He looks so damn good in it
  19. Gotta try out this Jakarta security some day. Just being an opportunist, I say Don't worry I'm sure they didn't mind as much to have you around to sing out loud with them in the front row \
  20. Yes, it's really quite inconvenient on a Wed. What to do though, rockstars don't have a 9am-6pm job the next day... Unless Muse has a press conference or something haha. Aww, that's great You're headed for The Killers! Well, I didn't get the tickets. I suppose even if I do, it'd be too much of a hassle to travel south to London for the gig. As fun as that might be, I'm pretty sure I'll be botched up with classes (I think I'll have summer semester, not too sure j yet) Do you go together with a few other friends who enjoy Muse too? Another one of Twitter perks, eh? On the contrary, I thought the security in Singapore (at least, for the Ash one) was a lot more lenient as compared to Malaysia. I always feel bad squeezing through to the front row... probably because I hate the people who actually tap me in the shoulder to ask me to scoot (well, if they're alone I suppose that's tolerable but if they're bringing like 10 other people to the front, I get really annoyed.) Sounds like a good fun Muser trip already
  21. Yes, it's Liz. What's yours? Ah, yes it would be a lot more convenient for you if you took Aeroline then. How long do you plan to stay in sg? I suggest you travel on the 3rd itself to save on accommodation. An 8am bus leaving KL would reach sg by 2pm I think, which would give you just enough time to check in and start queueing up! (though I've heard rumours that in the previous SG Muse gig, people were already queueing up at 6am). Then again, this is a "festival" of sorts... I guess the gates would open slightly earlier. For Muse, I honestly think any amount you spend relating to them would be worth it If you're a little reluctant to get the Pen A tix though, I suppose the numbered seated seats will not be too bad of an idea too, considering how you *might* be arriving late (should you only leave KL on the 3rd). That way, you don't have to show up early but still get a promised good view of Muse. You're bound to stand up anyway once Muse kicks in, perhaps just an entirely different experience if you're not in the Pen A category. You could save the moshing pit experience for Malaysia perhaps, IF they choose to stage a gig here in KL as well. Sigh. I honestly hope they will! Aww, I think you just caught me in the right mood . I tend to babble on about Singapore if anyone asks... Recenly a classmate of mine asked if I was a tour guide there or something
  22. OMG. MK Ultra & Cave!! Thanks for writing that up. Are you confirmed for Wembley 2010? It's in early September right? I mayyyyyyyyyyyyy just be able to bump into you there, should things go well I'm looking at the member's unique code right now and my fingers are just trembling as to whether I should just go for that pre-sale or not. For starters, I'm not even sure if I'll be in UK then! Sigh.
  23. Ah, so that's Tues - Thurs, yeah? Would love to join you there hun, I believe it'll be an excellent night out for all us Musers!! Hot damn though, why does it have to be on week 6-7 of my semester, which is the worst possible time (apart from pre-finals week). The same goes to my Killers dilemma, but that's on a Sunday at least, and the chances of my mid terms falling on a Monday is less likely than Muse's concert date. I have Andrew Bird on the 26th though and if I'm already there for the Killers on the 24th, why not just extend it two more days, yeah? But what if my paper falls on that Wednesday, night of Andrew Bird? Aarrghh. I've already pre-booked my bus tickets (taking two drips down to sg, one in late Jan and another early Feb - doubt I could skip classes for 10 days) which will only materialise 6 weeks from departure date. Up til then, I can still change my mind. I should be worrying about more strenuous, serious matters that will be happening in December, but all day long, my mind is only swimming in this Singapore dilemma The best bet for saving cash in singapore is to bunk over at a friend/relative's place. That would save you a LOT for acommodation. I've never attended any concerts at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, but I believe it's located pretty far off from the main town of sg (Orchard Road.. the Esplanade... etc) I remember staying at this Bugis St. place though, and it costs only about $35 per night, your own room but a communal toilet. I've never tried any of the Frangrance places, I believe Nut/Miele/Aida could talk a little more on that, but I've heard great stories that it's the most affordable accommodation you can get. Perhaps this time round, if my cousin refuses to take me in (lol actually I feel awful for always crashing at her place...) I'll head up there. As for heading down to singapore and transportation itself, you'll have to see which is your preference. You basically have four options, depending on how much of a fussy traveller you are Option 1 - By train. You leave from KL Sentral at night (about 8pm I think?) and you reach Singapore the following morning at about 8am. It's a long 12 hour ride, which, I believe costs about RM70 for a return standard single seat tix (please double check this, there are also bunk beds available which will cost a little more) Usually the cheapest option if you don't mind the long long hours cramped up in a train. Ideal for non-claustrophobias with an eye for adventure (i've heard stories of people meeting their soul mates in train rides! ) Option 2 - By bus. You have two routes for this. Either a direct one to singapore, or another one to johor and from johor you take another special bus down to singapore (please consult Aida for this ) I would personally recommend a direct bus ride to singapore any time, because I find I enjoy the long comfy bus rides listening to music but then again, everyone has their own preferences. Choosing which bus to take is another headache itself but I wouldn't recommend Transnasional buses. No doubt they're relatively cheaper (Last I checked, I think it's about RM85+ for a return tix?), I believe if it's only gonna take another RM20 to upgrade to a more comfortable ride, it's a lot more worth it. Plus, transnasional drivers are sometimes a little scary - but I believe this is really your luck. Aeroline is super comfy and they serve you subway sandwich, which I love, if you take the morning buses. The price is a little steep however, with RM90 per journey (includes 1 meal) which totals up to RM180 for a return ride. It's usually fuss free though and there's a comfortable lounge/lobby of sorts in the lower deck which you could use should you choose not to sit for 5 straight hours on a normal seat. My personal fav bus is First Coach which is RM115 for a proper return ticket. First Coach offers a smooth ride, and has a personal tv in front of you (very much like aeroplanes) where you can enjoy multiple movies if you bring your own ear phones. Option 3 - By air. This one takes a little more commitment. Coz you'll have to book months/weeks in advance. It's crazy how the prices to fly to singapore has dropped tremendously though. At one point, it only cost RM25 to fly to singapore (tax included!). If you book your tickets now, I believe it's RM95 for a return tix (tax included). It is absolutely worth it and you'll reach singapore in less than an hour's time! You could even travel in the morning of the concert day itself and save one day's worth of accommodation. There are downsides of it too, of course. You'll have to take into consideration the amount of time you'll have to check in early for the flight and make sure you have someone driving you to KLIA/LCCT. At Changi, it's super convenient as the MRT is right at it's doorstep so you don't really have to worry about getting around upon arrival. Basically, you don't have to worry about transportation in singapore because their public transport there is just bloody efficient Option 4 - By car. Gather round 3 of your closest friends, dump all your luggage in the car boot and you're off and ready for an exciting and memorable roadtrip down south Hope that helps. If it doesn't, just remember that Google is a very powerful tool. You can ask your parents/sister/brother/cousin or any of your friends with a credit card to get the tickes for you. Since this is done through SISTIC, a singaporean agency, all tickets must be picked up before heading to the concert (I think?). There are a few SISTIC outlets located strategically around KL (one, I believe, is in KL sentral), as long as you have a permission letter of sorts from the original card holder, you can then pick up your tickets there ;] For sure! We've got to catch up with all these merry-go-round rumours surrounding F1 anyway :] Which tickets do you plan to get btw? I would honestly love to stand and cheer at the concert, with a GOOD view of Mr Brandon Flowers. However, my sister is very very broke and she's only planning to get the $88 ones - or not attend the gig at all. Sigh. We haven't come up with a decision yet. There are 5 days or so left til the tickets are open though, so I'll let you know by Sunday if I'm really confirmed yeah? Not even an Ash gig with Athlete opening for them?! Aww, you look so genuinely happy in the pictures with Franz. I can honestly say I know how giddy and all you feel. Or your state of disbelief that it has actually happened! It's like nothing else in the world could dampen your spirits at the moment (unless it involves not going to another Franz concert lol) because you have this memory that could easily lift your feelings up again. Hehe. Treasure it, I say
  24. Welcome, Grace! (One can only assume it's Grace? ) Glad you could join us Msian musers I believe the tickets are only on sale on the 16th. Try checking again tmrw There's also a 10% discount if you purchase the tix between 16th - 30th Nov.
  25. Post-concerts are always the worst. OMG you met Alex! Thanx for your speedy update Sounds like a handful and I hope you get lucky at their hotel (lol i don't mean in THAT manner) to bump into them in the lobby do you still plan to, since you've already had the liberty to talk to ALL of them and have multiple pictures taken? so lucky!! I hope you'll be sharing setlist, videos and everything hehe.
