  1. So there are 3 weaker tracks on the record (Aftermath, Revolt, Drones). So how is that a bad album then if the rest is great?

Especially The Handler, Reapers, Defector (I loved the making of and I love it now), The Globalist, Dead Inside.

It's still better than the last 2 albums. And I even love the outro after the heavy part in GLobalist. Don't get the people who are actually commiting suicide because they don't like the album. It's a decent album. Nowadays only QOTSA could make an album without any fillers.

  2. It's a minute long and it varies very little, should've been about half the length. Could've used a bit more crash from Dom as well imo.

So what? Then don't listen to a drone song either.

Btw that part just works perfectly. And the drumbeat is really catchy as well, I bit post-punkish beat.

  3. I guess we'll find out for sure at the arena/stadium gigs when they play more songs but it looks like it.

I'm actually really surprised by how little of T2L has stuck around. I expected Follow Me, Survival, Supremacy, Panic Station and Unsustainable to all stick around to some extent. Not that I'm complaining, like.

    Thank God those are gone.

  4. I'm not saying he isn't good, I was just saying if we start comparing him to OTHER good singers (like, not Arctic Monkeys or anything. Alex is good at what he does and I like his voice, but this is from a technical standpoint), then he's gonna fall short quite quickly.

Like...Matt wouldn't be able to sing most of the songs in the "songs you want Muse to cover" thread without seriously reworking them, or doing them in a rather weak falsetto. Matt wouldn't even be able to cover a recent Panic at The Disco song properly, while Brendon (their singer) could easily cover any Muse song except Micro Cuts and Overture (because they'd probably sound ridiculous)

I love Matt's voice, but technically he's nothing special. He got a lot better during T2L, but now he's gotten a bit worse again. And range wise he's quite bad actually.

You are the most critical person in history.

  5. Wow, just listened too it. I don't know what to say.

This was like my favorite song off the past two albums from the live recordings but I don't know if I even like this much at all.

Holy shit how did they fuck this up so bad. Its Waaaayyyy overproduced.

The lyrics sounded way better in my head. Also the lyric videos are so cringeworthy.

Sorry for cynicism, but damn, shits got me salty.

EDIT: Alright second listen calmed down. Song is better without watching the godawful lyric video.

    What I don't like:

    Still a bit overproduced.

The background voices in the chorus.

    The lyrics.

The worst thing to say is that something is overproduced. Pretentious wankery.

You wanna look clever but it never works by saying that shit.

  6. The worst ones may also be the most radio friendly ones too, so they can release them as singles.

Judging from the clip, Defector could be easily played in radio and it is still way more appealing than Mercy. Even that excerpt is better than all other released songs from Drones.

Because they don't agree with what you think are the best songs+they think about commercial success and appealing to a wider audience? It's pretty much a proven fact that pop is popular (no shit), so releasing the poppiest songs makes total sense.

There are bands who totally don't give a shit about that. Just one example from many: when Billy Talent II came out, the first single was Devil in a Midnight Mass. The heaviest song on the record.
