  1. It’s not a very good song.
  2. Definitely the freshest, most musically challenging and unexpected song on the album, and thus the best.
  3. Getting on the closer ranking. Ruled By Secrecy Hate This & I’ll Love You Isolated System Megalomania The Void Exogenesis Knights Of Cydonia The Globalist/Drones
  4. But Charles makes the whole song .
  5. There’s def a touch of NIN about it. I think a whopping Great Destroyer outro would have been killer on Propaganda, although the beauty of that somg is arguably how concise it is.
  6. They work so well back to back those two. The level of detail in both of them is fantastic. The second verse of BITM really reminds me of what they did with the second verse of The Handler.
  7. I mean the drums in quite literally the opening 4-5 secs. They don’t beef up the riff for me; they distract from it. I think there would be more power to the intro as a whole without them, there would be a bigger drop after the first Break It To Me.
  8. I fail to concur . Both songs are the tits.
  9. Blockades has nothing, not a jot, on CoD.
  10. It's still the most boring, repetitive thing they've done in an age though.
  11. Nah. That shed the best part of Dead Star, the solo build-up/bridge back to the riff. Just play Dead Star in full and after hitting the last night, keep the fuzz going into the descending MC bridge before the outro riff. That would be awesome. And bring back the slowing-to-a-standstill outro from Earls Court / the late-2004/early-2005 shows.
  12. Dead Star / Micro Cuts / Hyper Music seems to be quite a logical set. You can chuck in any number of other drop-D songs as well, tbh. A piano medley might not be too bad either. If they were to do a medley, I'd love an instrumental medley. A really well thought out, properly planned one - bits of Nishe, The Gallery, Isolated System, Forced In, etc. I think that could be pretty special.
  13. The first part of the solo really reminds me of Smooth Sailing by QOTSA. It sounds messy and discordant but structured. Almost as if it's purposefully ramshackle. The outro is so disappointing. It doesn't kick on into anything. It needs to tear into a riff.
  14. And another thing, I love the circularity of the song, the way it returns to the intro for the outro. And the way it reflects The Void and vice versa. Nice. The transition to Dark Side is a bit janky but hey ho.
  15. I've seen Weezer and Dream Theater do it live too. I'd rather have one disappointment of hearing an old track I don't like so much than being tantalised by 4/5 I love.
  16. So when I first listened to Algorithm, after all the synths and piano calm down at 1m 19s, I totally did not expect those urgent strings to come in. Such a great way to keep the tempo going. Another thing I love is how the melody for the opening line closes in on itself rather than opening up. It sounds so fucking dark.
  17. I do think Algorithm is a better album opener than Dead Inside, but I think Dead Inside is a superior song. Also, I do think it's the best opener since Take A Bow, but then, I only really consider Take A Bow an opener in the context of BH&R. Live, it should always be a closer. It is so much more effectively deployed that way.
  18. That said, the album only comes in at 42 mins so tbh, there's no reason they can't play most the album every night. You only need to ditch GUAF and one of DD or TC and you're down to 35 mins. Should be easy to make it work and still have room for 15+ other songs.
  19. My big fear with this album is we're going to get Dark Side, Pressure, Something Human, Thought Contagion and Dig Down at every gig, with the others - the far, far, far superior tracks - rotated sparingly.
