Sunburn will be played more often this tour
-
Yeah that happened with both TR and T2L. "Wow this is so much more inspired than their previous effort", then as time went on the hype of a new album settled.
I wasn't keen on T2L at first but I find myself liking more individual songs on it than TR.
Drones I haven't really changed on, though I like Dead Inside a lot more now than at first
-
For me TR was the turning point. Previous albums may have had some songs that divided opinions, but the albums as a whole were loved. TR was the first time when the album and the band's direction as a whole divided opinions.
When TR first came out though people generally thought it was better than BHaR but over time opinions changed. From what I recall anyway. TR was when the set list complaints really took off

My first gut comparison of this to another Muse song would be that it kind of feels like SMBH 2 and that hasn't gone away after many listens. There are alot of similarities to draw. Which could confirm that Matt thinks SMBH is classic Muse?
Which alot would argue is true and 99% of this board and long term fans would argue was the turning point and their downfall and very much NOT classic Muse.
Time is Running Out caused all kinds of beef back in the day
From my recollection it was actually Invincible and Starlight being released as singles that was the turning point
-
Really? I was amazed by the 2 shows of the Drones Tour I went to (Paris and London). How is it possible to be bored at a Muse show, even if there are slow songs? I was in the seating area both times, (the row just above the VIP area, opposite Dom, in London! The ideal place, with nobody who bothered me!!) I stood and sang all the concert long.
O2 Arena 2009 night 1 was absolutely dire. The band weren't into it and neither were the crowd

Curious if Brexit will effect brits heading to continental gigs
As tourists? At worst you'd need a Schengen visa.
For a band who are technically working there would be more paperwork
The worst is if absolutely nothing is agreed and flights become disrupted
-
I still think SMBH should always be either around the 2-5 slot or at the very end, maybe if they're actually gonna do stadiums, it could be in the first encore, assuming they're doing double encores again.
E: Yeah, moving Knights to the middle was really nice... but let's not even talk about how they handled closing the gigs with Knights in the middle.
Didn't the first lot still have Survival closing? That structure seemed to work better.
They did experiment with Map in the second half of the set, not sure how I felt about it though
-
The problem for Muse live now for me is the majority the staples aren't really the style of their output that I really enjoy. Other bands play the same staples every tour but it doesn't matter so much if you think that they are their best songs
-
My thing with Muse’s rotation is that the arena sets for The Resistance and early Drones gigs just weren’t very good and then on The Resistance tour you’d get gigs with MK Ultra instead of Unintended and Cave for Feeling Good, those two changes dramatically change the vibe of the show. It’s about balance as well as designing a tour leg setlist to not be super predictable from the start

Ah ok, like a Reading/Leeds difference? I’ll keep it in mind.
Yeah and also you’ll be near Nuremberg which is a great city and not so far from Munich to go exploring

The line is unbelievably clumsy and out of place. That it made it into the final song is even crazier. It's way too careless and blunt for such a sensitive topic. That being said I honestly don't see room for malicious interpretation and it seems clear to me that it's a terrible attempt at denouncing fascism.
I'm not aware of any acquaintanceship between Matt and the alt-right. I know right-wing politicians have used Muse songs but that the band usually turned down their requests. Can someone direct me to stuff showing Matt getting "in bed with the alt-right"? I googled it but couldn't find anything.

Matt's conspiracy-era stuff got him pretty close to Alex Jones. It's a reputation that has never really gone away.

The word ‘album’ changes things for me. As people have said, OoS has the best songs, but Absolution is Muse’s most complete ‘album’ for me, i.e. a group of songs that work together as a collective and even become greater than the sum of its parts.
That said, OoS would probably still get #1 for me if it wasn’t for Feeling Good.
Absolution - 9.2
Origin Of Symmetry - 9
It’s hard to rank the rest as ‘albums’ for me as they all have flaws that are significant detractors to the concept of an album. In many ways, the next best album for me in actually Drones.
One thing is for sure though - T2L is by far the worst.
Agreed. Even if I think T2L has a better collection of songs than Drones or The Resistance as an album it is just awful. BHaR has serious flaws as well.

Hallo!
Ich habe ein Jobangebot in Dresden. Könnten sie mir mit der Umzug nach Deutschland (Beratung für Wohnungen) und der Sprache helfen?

So we got The Handler instead of Dead Inside. To me though once they hit the solo which Matt inevitably stuffed up, his voice kinda sucked through the last part.
Other than that it was good fun. Enjoyed somehow watching one of the balloons become undone and blast off into the roof
Well that makes sense...
-
Innit, it’ll be 8 years since they last played Wembley.
Not sure about 6 stadiums though, are they hot enough for that?
Maybe if they do small ones
-
Survival is odd, Follow me not really and MK isn't really a single
is In Your World really a single?
Yes, it was a double A-side with Dead Star and has a video and everything
-
Does anyone else think The Globalist could have been better as more of an Animals-style track and the piano part worked into a better puano-style closer that seems to end most Muse albums?

Find it really weird when people say Map is super common for them and nowt special because of it.
I've had it 4 times in 14 gigs - only one more than Assassin, same amount as Dead Star and less than TAB
I was the same with Citizen Erased, 5 times in my first 7 gigs. Bliss used to be super rare (I managed to go to the first 2 UK bhar shows it wasn't played) for me but now I've seen it 5 times out of 6.
I've had Map 7 out of 13, it's getting rarer.

Wasn't Endlessly played quite a lot on the Absolution tour? At the start anyway. I don't think they played Ruled By Secrecy at all in 2003
Exo-Politics was neglected but I'm not sure I'd class the other 3 BHaR tracks as such
