  1. If Reapers, Handler, Defector and Globalist deliver then I'll consider the album a success in my eyes. Dead Inside and Psycho are alright but Mercy is just plain gash!

I've listened to Mercy twice since downloading it off iTunes. It's just not clicking with me. It needs a guitar solo or something...it's too basic otherwise. Even Madness got more plays out of me!

  2. Ah I see!! I wasn't aware. Cheers for pointing this out.

For one track though...that had already been written! My point was Muse have since written songs that have moved away from a traditional three-piece sound, thanks to having Morgan on board who they know can replicate the sound live.

  3. Also, for the record...I love Morgan!

I just don't think Mercy sounds like "old Muse" as many are stating. This has been their sound for the last 3 albums

  4. What?

Matt has always played on Sunburn.

Morgan was first brought in because Chris broke his arm before a festival and Morgan filled in on bass (Absolution era). Then he joined full time during the BHAR era...one guy said there's hints of old muse and new muse in BHAR and I'd have to agree. That was definitely the turning point. And no it's not when I "stopped liking the band".

  5. The advent of Christ mark the end of the Old Testament and the start of the New Testament. What turned the Old Muse into the New Muse? I'm curious to know.

    Morgan.

He joined during BHAR era. When they were a three piece Matt played all the synths and keys bar the chorus of Stockholm Syndrome. Once Morgan joined it allowed Muse to write more songs they could play live with Morgan. Hence a shift in sound.

  6. Also. One thing that's bugging me is people saying it sounds like old Muse! It doesn't...

    Old Muse: Showbiz, OOS, Absolution

    New Muse: BHAR, Resistance, T2L

  7. Matt sure has changed a lot from the Kurt Cobain/Rachmaninoff/RATM fanboy he used to be

I'll have to agree with this. The song isn't as bad as Follow Me though! The guitars were virtually absent on the studio version whereas here they are very prominent...that's it's only saving grace for me. It's definitely the worst of the 3 so far

  8. I've been pre-ordered for ages but is not letting me DL on iTunes

If you have an iphone or iPod then go to Muse in your Artists section, then Drones where you should have Dead Inside and Psycho, then click "show complete album" and download it from there. I got it 20 mins ago that way.

  9. I like it better than I thought I would after the live version. The guitars sound nice and heavy for the pre chorus! Bass also sounds great...I'm not a huge fan of the vocal style but ah well. It's still my least favourite of the 3 studio tracks though

  10. Been mentioned for quite a while now but this is about as close to "confirmed" as we've gotten for that lyric :p

Ah my bad...they have a close up shot of Morgan saying it so I'm pretty certain that's what it is. Bit cheesy, I'm worried that it will sound gash on the studio version
