Some guy is coming at me on Reddit saying that if I have insider info, my two options should be to "keep it to myself and not be a dick" or to "reveal your sources". Sometimes it makes me wonder why I even bother with the Muse subreddit if people correlate asserting legit info with being a dick, it's not like people simply list their sources for random people not meant to know to fact check that kind info to their contentment.
Don't be a dick about it man

Yeah, these reviews are getting me WAY too excited with the stuff I've read. Revolt being one of their most creative?
I mustn't get overhyped haha
But another review said that Revolt was the straightest song on the album...
The mind boggles!
-
Not really, considering the comparisons have been happening at least since Absolution, possibly earlier. Also I like Queen.
Absolution? Which songs specifically?
The first time I thought "Queen" was hearing the layered vocals on Knights of Cydonia. Since then they've used them quite a bit
-
It almost seems like he mixed up the descriptions of The Handler, Defector, and Revolt, when you compare them to every single other (p)review.
And the guy that said there would be BIG surprises next week is now retracting a bit because of the hype, and saying he wishes he didn't add the "big" because some people might be disappointed.
I would say so. I think the monumental riffs that he said were on Revolt is really The Handler. The slinky pop he said was Defector is really Revolt and the one with 'Radio Ga Ga' chords is meant to be Defector.
If he has botched it, then that's poo journalism
-
Beaumont from NME gave The 2nd Law 8/10 but Drones 7/10...shit
-
It's an intriguing review in terms of telling us about the songs, but he doesn't really tell us which ones he likes or dislikes (apart from Defector). So that rating kinda came out of nowhere.
He does! At the bottom it says "Best track - Revolt"
-
I trust Mark Beaumont reviews...and he says Revolt is the best track! This gives me renewed hope for that one.
-
JJ, you find EVERYTHING that's new about Drones first. How do you get all the exclusives? Are you borderline obsessed with new album info?
-
I initially preferred the studio version but after seeing them perform it on Jools Holland tonight, I've changed my mind. The chorus is huge! Chris nails the harmonies
-
Muse surprises never involve the US. Not getting my hopes up.
They did that whole university tour before BHAR was released that involved a treasure hunt via setlist anagrams!! That was a US exclusive.
-
Also, the BBC can go fuck itself.
Why? I'm confused
-
On my iTunes, all the track times show except Reapers...bit weird
-
Psycho is on.
Psycho confirmed
For some reason, this really made me laugh
-
When I first heard the Mercy bootleg I thought it was dogshit...then when I heard the studio I thought it was a slight improvement.
I would've had that as the only time a Muse song has sounded better on a record. But then we got that proshot of it on Saturday and to be honest it was pretty incredible.
I think a better example is Dead Inside. I think it sounds bland live but great in the studio.
Oh and finally - I have to admit that on first hearing Psycho and the classic 0305030 riff I did get my hopes up for a raw rock album. Then I heard DI...but I actually really dug it which surprised me!
I still have a bit of optimism about Drones. It can't be worse than T2L!
-
For me it's: OOS, Abso, Showbiz, BHAR, TR, 2nd Law best to worst.
I've listened to the first three albums thousands of times and never get bored of them, the others are a bit more mixed. I'm hoping Drones will be above BHAR but I don't think it will be better than Showbiz imo
I'm identical to this!
If Sunburn or Showbiz showed up on Drones people would say they were amazing!
As for the guy who said OOS has no stinkers....Feeling Good?
-
Why do people rank Showbiz so low? Just because the production isn't great?
Yeah it's got a couple of stinkers on it, like all Muse albums do. But Sunburn, Muscle Museum, Cave, Showbiz, Uno and Hate This and I'll Love You are 6 belters! Only OOS and Absolution better it for me. I have Showbiz slightly ahead of BHAR on my ranked album list.

The 24th of September was exactly 1 week before the UK release, and we will almost definitely get a stream on the 1st of June
I hope so man! I haven't been this hyped for a Muse album since BHAR
-
1st October in the UK but 28th September elsewhere according to google and Wikipedia. That means we might have to wait until June 4th for a potential leak
-
Haha, just found the exact page where T2L was leaked. A fun read.
Wow, that was only 4 days before the release date...
Might be similar this time round sadly
-
I'm hoping for Prague
-
You just have to click the little shield icon and select which location you want, and bob's your uncle.
I'm not sure anyone outside of UK or Australia is going to be familiar with the term 'Bob's your uncle'
Good one though

Slow moving thread is slow

I've grown up with classing Futurism as a b-side (despite its brilliance) and the album ending Dark Shines, Feeling Good, Megalomania
This!
Futurism was always just a Japanese Bonus track

Wait are there people actually thing CIA is a word pronounced "see-a" loooooool It's an acronym C I A. Central Intelligence Agency...
I would hope not! The previous poster was convinced they heard 2 syllables in baby. I went back and listened and it was the A before 'babe' that they must've heard and thought it was part of the word baby.
I doubt anyone thinks CIA is an actual word.
