MOTP enters the Shazam song identification charts below and also the iTunes Alternative Digital Songs sales chart in several markets.

"The Umbrella Academy was adapted from the comic book series of the same name created and written by My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way. The singer also served as an executive producer on the Netflix series, so it shouldn’t be surprising that music is such a big part of the series...The Umbrella Academy season four series finale which debuted on 8 August 2024 starts with the song Map of the Problematique by MUSE. It’s the song Jean and Gene use to call all the Keepers together for the Cleanse. The group is much larger than the Hargreeves had initially assumed, with masses of people grabbing weapons, ready to fight to return to the timeline they believe they belong in."   -  Screenrant.com

The musicians separated by a brick wall and 200 years on Brook Street in Mayfair, London UK.  Details below.

Fun Facts about Matt Bellamy and  Polish opera countertenor and breakdancer Jakub Józef Orliński

Mezzo-Soprano and Soprano Arias by French Composers sung by:

Matt:  "Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix" (last two lines) : Samson and Delilah - Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns  [MUSE Album The Resistance]

Notes: "I Belong To You" including the above excerpts performed three times in France (Casino de Paris and Stade de France in 2010). Before the song he reportedly said 'Eh, we'll need your help to sing the next one for me because, perché, perché no parle... no fucking... parle francais non... eh, I can't speak French so you'll have to sing for me. Excuse my pronunciation.' After the song he said 'Eh! I didn't fuck it up! A little bit.'

Jakub:  "Viens, Hymen" :  Les Indes Galantes - Jean-Philippe Rameau  [Performed at the Paris 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony]

Grammy Nominations Received:

8  Matt/MUSE including wins for The Resistance and Drones

2  Jakub - Opera Albums including Agrippina by George Frideric Handel

Baroque Era:

Matt:  "Micro Cuts" (XX Anniversary RemiXX) - Harpsichord intro and verses and high-pitched falsetto vocal range spanning from D4 to A♭5. This track and "Plug In Baby" possibly influenced/inspired by Prelude in C minor (BWV 999) for lute/keyboard/lautenwerck and Toccato and Fugue in D minor (BWV 565) by JS Bach respectively.

Jakub:  Favourite Repertoire including Handel (Messiah)  and Vivaldi ("Vedrò con mio diletto" aria with over 15 million views on YouTube)

Edited out of NBC prime time evening broadcast of the Olympics opening and closing ceremonies shown in the United States:

Matt:  'Survival' performance by MUSE from London 2012 closing ceremony along with "Waterloo Sunset" by Ray Davies and "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush

Jakub:  'Viens, Hymen" as noted above at the Paris 2024 opening ceremony.  Performance was shown live during the afternoon broadcast but neither his name nor the song were identified. Commentators were nonplussed.

Jimi Hendrix - Flat on 23 Brook Street (1968-69)

GF Handel - House on 25 Brook Street (1723-1759)

Matt:  Hendrix is one of his favourite guitarists. He has played riffs from several of his songs including "Voodoo Child" and "Foxey Lady" at multiple MUSE gigs from 2001 to the present.

Jakub:  He took a tour of the Hendrix-Handel House in the video linked below.  He plays the intro to the popular "Sarabande" on the harpsichord.

Grammy-winning German music producer/DJ Zedd has co-written a song '1685' with Matt for his new album Telos which is scheduled for release on 30 August. The collaboration started in late 2017.  The track is credited to Zedd [born Anton Zaslavski in Russia] featuring MUSE.  Other featured artists on the album include John Mayer and Jeff Buckley covering his Grace track Dream Brother.

Baroque composers Bach, Handel and Scarlatti were all born in 1685.

Quote from Zedd's interview with Zane Lowe at Apple Music:

“Matt is a complete legend to me and massive inspiration. I wouldn’t be making the same music if his band wasn’t around.”

Zedd's recent interview with the Associated Press in August 2024 excerpted below:

AP: "You’ve always wanted to work with Matt Bellamy, and MUSE is featured on the closing track, '1685,' which references Bach’s 'The Well Tempered Clavier'.

ZEDD: They’re amongst the most influential people ever to me. So, for me to get to work with Matt Bellamy was a dream — and the entire band, really. And we have tried multiple times in the past... we both tried twice with two different songs. And they felt awesome, but not perfect and not forever. So luckily, he’s very similar to me, musically, in the regard that we’re not going to force anything.

I had this vision (for '1685'), and I told my manager, 'This one is going to be the instrumental track or with Muse, but with nobody else.' There’s nobody I would consider, because Muse is an artist who works music this way. They oftentimes will take classical pieces and re-interpret them and make it their own. And to me, it was like, 'Well, if I’m going to reinterpret my favorite classical piece of all time, I’m only going to do it with somebody who does that as well — and who inspired me to do that to begin with'."

The longest MUSE songs updated:

The Globalist 10:07 · Citizen Erased 7:21 · Unnatural Selection 6:54 · Space Dementia 6:20 · 1685 6:11 - Knights of Cydonia 6:06 - Eternally Missed 6:06
