Discoprincess32 Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 http://www.mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=138402 Lick Library’ mission is to help you learn to play the guitar and recreate the music of your favorite bands. With this in mind they have just released Learn To Play Muse, a double DVD set with over 3 hours of guitar tuition showing you how one of the most innovative and unique bands in the world get the sound they do. Multi award winning Muse, whilst influenced by many greats such as Led Zeppelin, Hendrix and Queen have arrived at their own distinctive sound and style, so much so that many new bands are now stating Muse as an influence. This British alternative rock band successfully fuse progressive, alternate and space rock with pop music, heavy metal and electronica to produce energetic and extravagant live performances. Singer, songwriter and guitarist Matt Bellamy was voted Guitarist of the decade in January 2010 in Total Guitar and proclaimed to be the ‘Hendrix of his generation’. Mike Casswell sought after guitarist and producer presents the guitar tuition DVD. He has played with many well known and diverse bands and artists such as Brian May, Ronan Keating and Cozy Powell and can be heard playing on numerous film and TV soundtracks. Learn to Play Muse (RRP £24.99) takes step by step through five outstanding Muse tracks. Plug in Baby, considered one of Muse’s most notable songs, from the Origins of Symmetry album is often praised for its opening guitar riff; Total Guitar recently choose this riff as the Best Monster Riff of All Time!! Next is Hysteria from the Absolution album, famous for its bass line and a staple of any live Muse show. Also from the Absolution Album comes Stockholm Syndrome, voted 44th in Q magazines top 100 Guitar Tracks. Then Lick Library present Knights of Cydonia described by Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac as ‘six minutes and seven seconds of pure genius’. The fifth track from the same album is Supermassive Black Hole charted at number four in the UK singles chart, the highest UK singles chart position the band has achieved to date and was used as a wake up for the Space Shuttle Atlantis astronauts. Matt described the song as different to anything else Muse had done, with a bit of electronica, it is slow, quite funky and the main guitar riff is very similar to that of 20th Century Boy by T. Rex. Mike feels that all levels of guitar players will be able to get something from this guitar tuition double DVD set. Beginners to intermediate players will be able to master the straight forward riff of Supermassive Black Hole; whereas the more advanced players will relish the challenge of the technically difficult complicated string skipping riff in Hysteria’s solo. Mike talks you through the sort of equipment that will give you the best results, and as always with the Lick Library DVD guitar lessons the screen is spilt so you can watch and copy what Mike is doing with both hands as he plays these superb track at three different tempos, slow, medium and up to tempo.
