Did you manage to record a clip of that SMBH toanz? I've tried it with my pod, 3 big muffs with 2 tube screamers in between, right before the last big muff in the chain. Got a whammy 5 in the fx loop at the beginning, with a phaser right in front of that into a noise gate and into the rest of the pedal chain. Is there a noticable sound difference between the DT and 5's octave down setting? Because I can't seem to get that nice, smooth "drop" sound when MB does the bend into the verse build up. I'm assuming the electronic synth ping you hear during the chorus is also attributed to the DT's octave down yes?

haha, all this talk about synth effects and my pod can't even compare to the axe's synth block. but still, I'm surprised by how close it can get with a little tweaking... and for 2000$ less

It's just whammy up 2 octaves with a bit of reverb and delay innit?

I got close to the tone with a patch on my pod, I just have a synth string effect on without an octaver though, because the synth effect itself already gives it a -1 octave harmony. It doesnt sound as heavy as what matt has though

:eek: Why have I never heard this performance of SMBH before. Holy shite the effects on here are ridiculously amazing. Especially when that synthy effect takes over at 43 seconds in. The chorus synth effect is also a LOT more dominant than most other recordings Apparently this is the first SMBH with the new axe fx settings so Jack I'll worship you even more if you manage to nail some of these as well

Whatever it is, it sounds damn sexy and builds up the tension to that sick pick slide up the strings nicely. It's also actually the same feedback sound that spilled over from a lot of the first performances of reapers. It was more pronounced during the choruses. prime example

Update: I managed to partially get close to the filtered tone of that stockholm outro I linked a couple posts ago. I actually didn't have to do anything special at all. Just rolled my tone knob on my mbc all the way down to 0 (MBK2) and I pretty much nailed it with the patch I have on my pod. For the jam outros though I have a synth effect set up to give it that weird harmony sound, but otherwise for pretty much every current distortion MB uses that sounds like it has a filter effect on it, tone on 0 nails it perfectly. Considering the tone knob is pretty much a high-pass filter, I just gotta figure out how to replicate it with the pod's EQ filter cuz with the tone on 0, sustainer squeeling wankery doesn't work on the higher strings Don't have any sound clips or the capability of recording anything so I guess it's a Soldano The tweaking still continues for the knights super fuzz however

Squeeling wankery. The sustainiac neck sound is actually really nice. Idk if mansons wired it to sound like a single coil or HB for me but it sounds a LOT smoother and brighter than both of the neck pups in my strats.

I got pretty close to the sound on my pod with a booster running into a tube screamer into a big muff AFTER the mixer chain. Its close but not close enough. It doesnt have that amazing indescribable clipping and fizzing that bellamy's fuzz has, while retaining the clarity of the notes.

from what I've heard from other people the knights super fuzz that's been used since T2L is purely the axe fx, but don't take my word for it though cause I don't have an axe, only my measley pod hd500x otherwise I would have definitely figured out how to do it by now lol

nail the weird filtered distortion effect MB's been using like in this clip of stockholm and i'll hail you as a god and the super fuzz for knights as well

I've had a pod hd500x for a couple weeks now and have been creating U2 and various ambient/synthy patches for the experimental stuff my band does, but I cannot for the life of me dial in a solid muse tone. I'm talking like current era drive and fuzz, that really nice scooped filtered drive sound that MB uses as his regular all around distortion sound nowadays. I doubt this is even possible to achieve in the pod since all his current effects come from the axe fx, so that leaves me with the old era sound before MB got all the fancy modelers. If any pod owners on here have any tips on being able to achieve a starting point on the sounds for stockholm, new born, micro cuts, etc. at wembley it would be appreciated. I'm running the pod directly into a tech 21 power engine 60 with all output modes on the patches set to studio/direct. P.S. I've somehow managed to fully recreate to some extent the tight fuzz sound for knights and smbh at rome, and in those patches I have no amp or cab set up so idk what's going on there, just two pedals in the signal chain along with the mixer, and a hard gate of course.

wow oh wow I just had a close encounter with my cort. The strap got caught on my chair whilst I was pulling away and it came tumbling down. LUCKILY guitar is absolutely still fine, with no visible scratches or dings or even worse, giant dents. I mean going by how often MB throws his around I'm not surprised mine has no dings or anything from a mere fall into the metal part of my rolling chair.

this is casual on tele style headstocks with no string tree. the problem that's happening here is your high E nut slot is probably a little too wide to hold the string, and since there's no string tree to hold it down after the nut it vibrates inside the nut like crazy causing that annoying buzzing sound. on my mbc it happens like that on the open B string and no matter how low I set my hap tuners (they're all the way down on the high strings) it still buzzes, but it's barely noticable unless you're playing unplugged and strumming real hard. no amount of adjusting the neck or bridge will fix this unless you get a new nut, or you just rub in some graphite from a pencil into the nut slot, it'll stop the harmonic buzzing for a little while.

this ^^ im still trying to figure out how to remove it without damaging the finish on my black one not to mention the killbutton on a red glitter just looks SO out of whack

yeah the finish looks amazing but honestly it does look extremely out of place without the hardtail, and the kill button still being there as stock just takes the glittery vibes and shoves it down the toilet. makes me hope that they'll be more willing to do the killswitch mod for this one considering how ugly that kill button looks in contrast to the red glittery goodness. would definitely look better with a sustainer and chrome mbk2 as well im hoping it'll be easier to remove the cort logo on this one in comparison to the black ones lmao

I'm no builder but I can safely say it might just be best to get an HH tele, it would be cheaper, risk free, and require no labor at all

in any case as well you're probably still gonna need extra routing done because the sustainiac board just BARELY fits in the default control cavity already; and if you want another knob there then that won't fit either because you'd need a pot and space to put it in and considering the sustainiac board is already a tight fit there's practically gonna be no room for that config. and how exactly would it work off a single knob? I dont think they've ever wired it so you can switch from harmonic/fundamental/regular sustain AND turn it on in the same pot

Its the most affordable option for sure if you're in the states but you'll be stuck with having the toggle switches right next to the main controls at an angle instead of offset parallel to the bridge, since you'd have to get it routed if you want that and afaik they don't like doing cavity routing jobs. or you could opt for push pull pots and defeat the whole purpose of bell0rz authenticity and more difficult operation of squeeling sounds

anyone with both the manson standard and deluxe strap can confirm the differences between the two? I'm only asking because it looks like Matt has been using a different kind of strap ever since T2L, and im wondering if he just switched over to the deluxe straps, since the smaller hook part of his straps are long, and whenever I adjust my standard strap to the same length while standing (I'm the same height as Matt lmao), the wide padding part of the strap rubs up against my guitar and it gets caught under it whenever I do crazy theatrical stuff. I doubt Matt would use any other different strap, since his new ones do look pretty much the same as the manson ones, but I'm not so sure about the length of the smaller strap part that hooks onto your strap button.
