  1. http://www.theupcoming.co.uk/2015/06/05/drones-muse-album-review/ 4/5 for the lazy/uninterested
  2. Loved it at first and I still love it, the lyrics aren't nearly as cheesy in this as they are in Defector or Pyscho. And the vocals are stunning, and the guitar solo is awesome. It fits really well within the concept. Its def a radio tune but thats the only negative I gather. At the very least Anybody who thinks this is worse then Big Freeze is just plain wrong. I agree that any other opinion on this board is just that, an opinion but there's NO way this song is worse than Big Freeze.
  3. Citizen Erased but the gap isn't as wide as some Musers will say it is. Both are top ten Muse songs as far as I'm concerned but CE is def #1.
  4. Good review, pretty much how I feel about the album. Don't get the let down for people regarding the globalist. Since when do we ever take what musical artists say about there new songs before they're released seriously? ESPECIALLY when they compare there new songs to some of there best previous work. Stunning tune, all 4 parts including Drones.
  5. 1 for Dead Inside 1 for Psycho (basically, but maybe not technically a solo) 0 for Mercy 1 for Reapers (OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOD!) 1 for The Hanlder (not really a solo though...) 2 for Defector 1 for Revolt 1 for Aftermath 1 for The Globalist (Mostly riffs but I think the last 20+ seconds of the heavy part is kind of a solo part) Thats how I feel about it so 9 total but technically probably only 7
  6. Thats really cool. This is why I freaking love Muse! Great find.
  7. Really digging the vibe this song gives off. Some fantastic guitar work in this. I would love to know though, is that Chris singing in the background towards the end??
  8. A little bit, but matts falsetto bits make it less killer like. The Guitar before the solo is very killer like but the solo's more journey than the killers.
  9. Just sent mine in, good poll, tried to be more objective and less fanboy
  10. This one's getting better with each listen, just stunning, def should be played as one long song with The Globalist
  11. Lets assume Warner will force a greatest hits down our throats, now you've been chosen to pick the track list, but your tasked with making this "Greatest Hits" album its own kind of "Master Muse album", not just a Top Ten Hits collection. Limit is 25 songs or roughly 20% of there whole discography (INCLUDE ANY B-SIDES YOU DEEM WORTHY) 1. Interlude/Hysteria 2. New Born 3. Sing for Absolution 4. Citizen Erased 5. Micro Cuts 6. Aftermath 7. Supremacy 8. Muscle Museum 9. Dead Inside 10. Dark Shines 11. Unnatural Selection 12. Stockholm Syndrome 13. Hoodoo 14. The Handler 15. Butterflies and Hurricanes 16. Apocalypse Please 17. Knights of Cydonia 18. Blackout 19. Reapers 20. Map of the Problematique 21. Exogenesis: Symphony, Part 1 (Overture 22. Exogenesis: Symphony, Part 2 (Cross-pollination) 23. Exogenesis: Symphony, Part 3 (Redemption) 24. Hate This and I'll Love You 25. The Globalist/Drones (Yeeeeeeeeeeees I cheated!!!!!)
  12. While I totally think this is there best album since Absolution I do respect and kind of enjoy reading some of the hate reviews. Just one of the things I love about muse, they bring out so many different kinds of fans because there music varies so much on each album. LOVE being a MUSE fan! :musesign:
  13. This, after reading all the criticism I was expecting Big Freeze but its exactly like Guiding Light. I get why a fair amount of Musers hate/loathe it but I dig it. Great vocals and excellent guitar.
  14. Kinda surprised so many people don't like the piano part towards the end. I agree the middle section could be longer but I think the vocals and especially the piano sound great. But to each his/her own.
  15. Wow, this is so haunting, I feel like you HAVE to listen to this as a continuation of The Globalist, its really one big song. I get why they split it up, but man this really works for me as a closer. So weird and different but thats usually when I like Muse the best. Stunning how amazing his voice is because you know that less than 1%-2% is any kind of auto tune/added production unlike a lot of singers these days.
  16. Love this, musically and vocally its really good. The last 90seconds are a little "churchy" with the backing vocals but I think its as good an upbeat slower song as Matt could ever compose.
  17. Origin has 2 or 3 of there top 10 songs but so does Drones and the average of the rest of Drones barely outweighs the rest of Origin. Don't like it?
  18. Screw it I'll grade it now after 5 or 6 listens. Dead Inside: 9/10 - Perfect Opener for the narrative, in your face, bold, great vocals Drill Sargent/Pyscho: 9/10 - Solid Rocker Mercy: 8/10 - Good single, great use of falsetto Reapers: 10/10 - DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE! The Handler: 10/10 - If you dislike this song then I will not pray for your soul JFK/Defector: 9/10 - So Much fun to listen too. Enough said. Revolt: 9/10 Great vocals, decent lyrics (better than defectors & Psycho's), sounds like a boy band song yes but its Matt 'Freakin' Bellamy so get over it, and the guitar is cool as heck, especially after the 2nd chorus line. Suck it if you hate this song, totally understand if you simply dislike it but its what Big Freeze should have been. Now that song blows. Aftermath: 8.5/10 - Love everything about the song except the "churchy" feel towards the end of the song but the vocals do sound great. Cool yet very subtle guitar parts throughout, can't wait to hear an instrumental of this. The Globalist: 10/10 - I will say that this one really grew on me after a few listens. You can't judge each part indivdually, you have to judge the whole thing as one big journey song. You either take it all or you leave it all. I think people heard the guitar part in the instagram thing and read what matt had said and assumed it would be mostly be a rocker after the first 3-4mins. Excellent song. Drones: 10/10 - I really have to listen to this when I listen to the Globalist, its really one big 13min song. So eerie. Bottom Line: Matt's voice has NEVER sounded better or at least more controlled. Some lyrics are too cheesy but musically its there best album maybe ever. 1. Absolution 10/10 2. Drones 9.5/10 3. Origin of Symmetry 9/10 4. The Resistance 9/10 5. Black Holes and Revelations 8/10 6. Showbiz 7/10 7. The 2nd Law 6/10
  19. Honestly I can't really play this without listening to the Drones track that follows. So for me this song/journey has 4 parts and is one massive 13min song.
  20. I actually love this song, Matts vocals are really good and his lyrics here are not bad at all. Not any cheesier than anything else on the album. And the guitar solo is great. Totally understand why people hate it because it sounds like a "boy band" to a degree. But that doesn't matter to me because Matt's voice is better than any other dude in an american/brit boy band and he actually writes his crap and the guitar is pretty cool. But its def a radio tune so no wonder most Musers hate it. Fits the narrative perfectly. Given the place its at in the "story/narrative" it really had to be an upbeat kind of song like this. But haters be damned, this is what Big Freeze should have been, (or it just shouldn't exist ) now that song blows (except the drums).
  21. Real grower for me, wasn't sure at first but I LOVE his voice, the slide guitar is perfect, the middle section is really cool albeit a little short and I absolutely love the piano outro. I know a lot of people will call it explorers 2.0 or USOE 2.0 which isn't an unjust comparison but I don't get that vibe as much. Mainly cause the piano by itself is really pretty. But above all else I truly believe this is a JOURNEY song. Its not meant to be one perfectly coherent song really, but just a story within itself and I think its stunning. Gets better with each listen but I do believe its a grower and you have to take it as a whole or not at all to be honest.
  22. Just finished my first listen all the way through and as a whole Concept album its really quite stunning. The biggest surprises for me were Aftermath and Drones the final track. Matts voice is stunning. I can see where some people (Musers) will be turned off by Revolt and Aftermath but I personally love both because they don't sound like muse, especially Revolt. And while the Globalist is more sparse than I thought its really a journey song. Its not meant to have choruses. I'll admit first time through I was slightly disappointed but after a few listens its def the biggest grower for me. Absolutely love it now. LOVE his voice in the first vocal part and the piano is gorgeous. The ending piano part might get some "Explorer's" comparison's which aren't totally unjust but I think its perfect for the journey kind of song that it clearly tries to be. Defector is heavy queen but I really enjoy it. And matts vocals are stunning on this album!! So overall the first half of the album sounds like Muse, the 2nd half doesn't which in a way make's it more Muse because I expect the unexpected from them, more so then most bands. And thats the primary reason they are my favorite band. I'll wait to rate the album for at least a few days but on the surface Its there best album in a while. And I loved the Resistance, disliked the 2nd law and loved Black Holes & Revelations
  23. Well crap, I'm late to this party. So i'm on vacation this week and I listened to this on the way back from the beach to where I'm staying and I literally stopped in the middle of a road when Matt hit that first falsetto in the chorus. Surprised nobody honked or flipped me the bird because I must of stood there for 5 seconds, sooooo much greatness!! And while I do wish the guitar bit in the middle had a little more variation to it, its a really cool part that builds to the final outro bit, so if anything its more of a bridge than a solo. But damn 5 songs in and Matt's voice has NEVER sounded better. I loved the days when he had less control over his voice during OOS and showbiz but I prefer the control he has over it now. And man he can still hit those high notes!!
