And what an avatar it is.
It's great tbh. No Devil and God tho.
People have been using "emo" to describe overtly whiny lyrics especially from male artists for a seriously long time. And MCR always got way more shit than they deserved. I've also really enjoyed a lot of Way's work in comics, especially considering I haven't really been into superhero stuff since my teens.
Way is a great writer actually. I really dug Umbrella Acadamy. His last album was solid, too.
-
The Black Parade is a good alternative rock, pop/punk album. Emo is (and has always been) something else. I thought those kind of things weren't even labelled as such anymore
Muse is the antithesis of an emo band anyway.
I guess you would know, what with your avatar.
-
Black Parade is actually a really good album.
-
Some real head scratchers in this thread.
-
I will praise it for being the perfect manifestation and example of Muse's cringy Queen influences.
Hmm… Borderline acceptable.
-
I've always found the New Born comparisons a bit boring. Yes, it is a similar riff, but the songs are suitably different. The extended version is piss though, and I will accept no praise.
-
Never forget the extended version of Unnatural Selection .
Didn't even know this was a thing until now. Far out what were they thinking?
-
There is no such thing as objectively good music.
Sort of my point. You can say that something is objectively good or bad in a technical sense, but that's pretty much it. Bands like Nirvana and The Sex Pistols were technical messes but they wrote music that resonated with whole generations and helped inspire entire artistic movements. You can commend Guns N' Roses for Axl Rose's vocal range, but it doesn't stop them from boring me stupid. That's what I meant when I said that half my music library was objectively bad. I don't think it's bad at all, but I do recognise that Mount Eerie is a bad singer even if his voice is perfect for his music.
-
I see all of the album's flaws, but I still like it. Objectively, I should think it's crap, but I unironically like it.
Well music is subjective anyway, so it doesn't really matter. If I only liked music that was objectively good that would be about half of my music library gone.

Matt could do with being a bit less didactic and blatant. A lot of his lyrics are fairly meaningful, they just sound a bit daft.
-
You don't, though.
Don't I? Oh.
-
I do!

automated pattern guitar delay does not equal electronic imo
Yeah, but it's also got a lot of synth work in the background. I'd say it could be classed as electronic rock.
-
The Handler solo is hopeless. It's just dead noise for like a minute. I know it builds, but there are far more creative ways to do that.
I miss it when Muse filled two minutes in songs with the kind of bridges we got in Darkshines, B&H, Assassin, etc .
Now that you mention it, when was the last time we actually got an interesting bridge?
-
How many times is Matt going to say the next album will be more stripped down?
-
I mean, the VR thing has to be a joke.
-
Saved yourself at the end.
Almost.
-
Well, "blue blood" and "yellow belly" are real expressions. I think the line could have been worded better, but I see what he was going for.
I get what he was going for too, and it was corny as hell.
-
Matt should start scatting.
-
idk man, I can't think of many others that can genuinely make me shudder like that one
Your blood is blue and
Your mind turned green and
Your belly is all yellow
I mean what the fuck.
-
It's a horrible line. If you can't see that I'm a bit worried.
I'm not denying that, just that in the grand scheme of Matt's lyrics it's far from the bottom of the barrel.
-
I mean, I guess it's cringy from a "that's so angsty" perspective but for his standards it's not that bad.
-
I mean it's clearly just a bit of fun, but musically it's obviously crap, no?
In a sense, yes. The sparkly production kind of loses the appeal that bands like The Cramps have, but a something clearly thrown together for the fun if it I think it's a good cover.
-
It's so stupid and campy and ridic. Nice to see them not taking themselves seriously.

This was a theory?
