  1. also, Electioneering

Pearly's the only song by Radiohead that really stands out to me as being similar to Muse's sound.

I wish Soaked could have been on The Resistance. 2:30 = awsome.

    :noey: Too cheesy.

    i miss invincible! :(

So do I. I'd take it over Guiding Light any day.

For some reason I would be interested to see or to have seen uno open a set, i just think the scratchy intro and powerful bassline would set the crowd off

This is never going to happen, but yes, that would be amazing. Although it would only set a few people off; the rest of the crowd would be wondering what the hell the song is.

  2. OK Computer

    The Bends

    Amnesiac

    Absolution

    Kid A

    Origin of Symmetry

    In Rainbows

    The Resistance

    Black Holes & Revelations

    Hail to the Thief *

    Showbiz

    Pablo Honey

Strange; I think Radiohead are the better band, but I prefer Muse. And I'm starting to think that maybe BH&R is better than the Resistance - it has better songs, although the flow is better on the latter.

*HttT has great songs, but as an album, it really doesn't work.

  3. Nude FTW!

    Hell yes!

The Resistance may have sold loads because:

    a) It was the first Muse album for three years, and Muse are huge having sold out Wembley Stadium twice in 2007 and headlined every major UK festival

    b) Initially most people on here absolutely loved the album when it first came out, and possibly told people who were unsure on it that it was infact brilliant, thus spreading the buying. Once the album hype died down and people went off it, it doesn't matter because it had already sold

    c) Some people really liked Uprising and so got the album expecting to get another 10 similar songs

    d) Some people may really like the other 2 singles so bought the album instead of the singles

    e) Guiding Light at Glasto was so amazing people just had to buy the album as it wasn't a single and that was the glimpse of Muse they got that they aren't exposed to on the radio

    b) I initially thought that it was possibly their best album. I still like it, but nowhere near that much. My opinion of it is a lot more...balanced now.

  4. Exo-Politics, Soldier's Poem and Invincible are really good.

Invincible is pretty good, and the cheesy lyrics suit the song. Soldier's Poem is nice and doesn't deserve the hate. Personally it's good it's a short song - it would feel 'dragged out' otherwise. Exo-Politics is nothing special.

Taking the piss out of Guiding Light is getting seriously old. It's NOT THAT BAD.

Ruled By Secrecy is boring until a little more than halfway through the song.

Exogenesis in full live would be atrociously cringe-worthy.

Showbiz is better than The Resistance.

    1. No comment.

    2. :noey:

    3. It could potentially be great if done with an orchestra. If they just use synthesised strings, then I agree.

    4. I disagree - it has too many average songs, even though the best songs on Showbiz are some of the best songs they've ever made. I.E. Sunburn, Showbiz, Muscle Museum, Uno.

  5. The Small Print > Undisclosed Desires > Supermassive Black Hole > Escape > Knights of Cydonia

Knights of Cydonia > Undisclosed Desires > Supermassive Black Hole > Escape > The Small Print

They need to drop 'Hysteria' from their live set. It's probably my favourite studio track but it's lost its impact live in my opinion. No way near as epic as the performances in 2004. But then again what isn't?

They need to drop 'Starlight' too.

    1. No, it's one of the best songs that they still play live. They shouldn't drop it unless they replace it with another one of their old songs.

    2. They'll never drop that song.

Radio 1 Big Weekend 2006. Studio version is disappointing in comparison though one of their better recent singles

I thought you said in comparison to their better recent singles.

I would drop more than half the setlist before dropping Hysteria.

    Same.

I've only seen live recordings of it, but Resistance, for example, doesn't seem very exciting live. That's possibly just because I don't really like the song though.

  6. I've read stuff like this several times and i really cant agree with it.... I mean its a good song, the lyrics are nice, but the best??! Its not even in my top 15! And the part after "I'm too young to care" kind of gives me a headache... Sorry...:stunned:

I think it's a beautiful, wonderfully composed song with great emotion that builds to an amazing soaring climax, that only gets better live. And the instrumental version is amazing. Probably in my top 5 Muse songs.

  7. but can you really say that they have ever captures the "pwoper muse" of the SS performances in '04 at earls court and glasto ever since?? they haven't smashed the stage or screamed the last line ever since and I don't think I am the only one who misses that.... we just get KoC every night for over a year now

If they want to smash the stage, good for them. If they don't, then they shouldn't do it. Otherwise, it's just contrived.

    Glorious > Dead Star

    Glorious > Fury

    Glorious = Futurism

    :p

Glorious = Fury > Dead Star > Futurism

    Dead Star live, however... :awesome:

Thoughts of a Dying Atheist is better than The Small Print.

    Agreed.

Glorious, Exo Politics, and Assassin are much better live.

Don't know about the other two, but Assassin certainly is. I don't like it much on BH&R; as someone else said, the heavy parts of it sound a bit 'fake'; not actually heavy, and it just isn't that exciting, but it comes into its own live.

  8. In Your World > Dead Star > Futurism > CTMEOY

In Your World piano intro > Dead Star > Futurism > CTMEOY > In Your World

Actually, I don't think this board would be that depressing if the "loving no mater what"-fans didn't bitch all the time.

"I don't like this and this with Muse"

"Oh, then maybe you should just leave, Muse can do what they want"

"Yes, of course, I'm just saying what I th..."

"SHUSH! If you're gonna complain, do it someplace else"

    instead of just:

"I don't like this and this with Muse"

    "Okay, too bad"

You see, I don't have a problem with complains, why should I? This is a messageboard for opinions, if you don't like someones opinion about Muse, get over it and stop bitching.

I agree completely. However, people can sometimes be so over-dramatic, like"RIP Muse".

  9. Bring it!

    ... But not really. :chuckle:

I was listening to it in the car and I didn't want to cut my ears off like I thought (from reading others opinions on it).

But it would sound like something that Matt would put on some solo record  along with NSC and Guiding Light.

The verses are alright, but the choruses....:shifty:

    And along with Prague.

Nah, I like Unintended too much for it to be replaced!!
