  1. Its not that, its just that they sound embarrassing and not serious at all with all of the problems we're complaining about piled on top of each other.

I don't think its too much to want my favorite band to make songs that sound serious again and sound like they are trying to write great music not make people laugh. T2L only really had Animals and the middle section of Unsustainable (not even a full song lol) that I would put in Muse's top class with their pre 2009 stuff. I don't listen to OoS or Absolution to laugh. I can understand why fans who came in to The Resistance, probably most of Muse's fan base now adays, but for us who have been around for a while this is becoming too much.

Why do a lot of pre 2009 fans think they're the spokesman of all of them? It's bloody annoying.

  2. Personally I think the riff is slightly overbearing on the rest of the track.

Forgive me but I hardly notice Chris is playing on the track at all apart from a couple of times.

You should practice differentiating bass from guitar than.

  3. I've never felt this kind of second-hand embarrassment when listening to a song.

I thought this album was going to be some Forced In / Citizen Erased / Stockholm Syndrome shit. My expectations were drowned in shame by this song.

Remember when Matt could poetic lyrics? With some subtlety.

I don't even mind the cock-rock riff. I'm so shocked by everything else.

Yeah sure buddy, the riff everyone loved and that's been played a gazillion years live suddenly is a cock-rock riff. Who the fuck even comes up with these bullshit terms anyway?

Drowned in shame, fucking hell.

  4. This. Well,I loved it at first listen mainly due to all the excitement... it's better than anything on TR or T2L,but it isn't as good as anything on Abso or OoS. It's BHaR level,if not a bit worse.

There is no way music can be judged that quickly, especially compared to albums that are more than 10 years old and have been performed countless times live.

Also, don't get me wrong, I don't care about people not liking it. It's just that after a few days the self proclaimed experts seem to come out of the woodwork and try to cram as much of the word 'cringe and OoS' in a single post as they possibly can.

Annoys me when people sit there and over analyse music like they're some kind of prophet of songwriting.

    It's fun. That's what matters.

    Exactly what I mean.

  5. Ugh. It was so obnoxious I had to turn it off at the 2:00 mark. Once the drill sergeant came back, I knew it was irredeemable trash. I guess the 'fans' brought in by 'Uprising' will like this. For those of who fell in love over "Butterflies and Hurricanes" or even OoS, this is a farewell.

Oh, you're one of those people.

Anyway, same old Muse board. People loving it at first listen, until the hyperbole experts come in.

  6. there are so many songs with a "solo" like that, it's just an ascending octave riff in D minor, many a band has used it before and many a band will use it again

    Exactly.

And let's not act like it's the first time Matt plays it.

  7. Are you sure? I just hear a vocal harmony there.

And anyway I really doubt that synth snippet from IG would make into a song.

    100% sure.

    From here:

    To here:

    7s

The "Your ass belongs to me now" part has it, but it is drowned out by Matt's vocals.

Was wrong about it being the snippet from Instagram though.

  8. Took a few listens but I found a synth.

Sounds like that snippet with the Cow from Instagram.

Was immense at first listen but after 3-4 listens it isn't that great. I mean it's great, but some of the lyrics are plain cringe and it needs an actual solo, not that Tom Morello-wannabe guitar breakdown*,it would help it a lot, make it a bit less repetitive melody-wise.And the "drill sergeant" spoken stuff, well, take 'em out. All in all it's just a heavier, beefier Uprising. What Uprising wanted to be,but in no way was - don't tell me Uprising is actually heavy! - ...

*Not the first Morello-ish thing Matt has ever done, has to be said.

    Tom Morello invented guitar scales?
