  1. a few years down the road...maybe. but, certainly not next year, unfortunately.
  2. with the possibility looming that some songs that haven't been played live in a decade+ actually get played (with some never being played live before), the idea of recording audio only doesn't seem too assholish to me. only 2,000 quasi-lucky people will get into the gig, when probably 200,000...or even 2,000,000...or more...would want to hear what those songs sound like today.
  3. gotcha. for me, video is a bonus. i'm just crossing my fingers that someone (or a few) in the crowd will capture decent audio, at least. who knows, it may come down to having to patch together various youtube clips or something...as a very last resort.
  4. Jobby, r u still going to try and record w/ ur iPad mini? i still don't think i'm going to be able to properly roll on the whole thing. if the gig were over here, i'd feel more comfortable...but i don't want to tote my zoom h6 over there. anyone else planning to record it? i'm going to put out a rallying cry a few more times up until the gig, pleading for others to take a stab at rolling on it.
  5. it was the lightning that killed it. a torrential downpour for a while, but really, it was the lightning. the peeps in the weather trailer had been worried about tonight since the team arrived on monday. acl 2013 was on another level. i still haven't dried out after that. zilker park was destroyed. all should be good for tomorrow, tho, lol. may even be a bit chilly.
  6. well, thought it would get rained out...and it did.
  7. qudos and rod laver are big venues; they'll go with something (a bit bigger) other than the moving columns. probably a one-off stage design; relatively simple but interesting enough. let's hope they don't put it in the backs of their minds and scrap the whole thing altogether.
  8. also, just in: redbull tv announced they'll be streaming muse's performance at lolla on the Channel 2 feed saturday (not tomorrow) at 8:45 p.m. CDT (Sunday, 1:45 a.m. UTC).
  9. muse's performance (assuming it doesn't get rained out) will be streamed on redbull tv (Channel 2) on saturday (not thursday) at 8:45 p.m. CDT (Sunday, 1:45 a.m. UTC).
  10. it's all a bunch of crap over here...and has been for a good long while...which is why i felt compelled to make the trek across the pond to SBE. watch 'em find a way to fuck that up, too.
  11. true. could be wishful thinking, but i'm hopeful that the band already plans to play a few interesting/obscure songs regardless of whether they land in the top ten...in which case a few others that don't quite make the cut end up getting played. on the other hand, i still fear that without an official announcement of voting results, the band might cut corners and end up playing most, but not all, of the top ten vote-getters.
  12. i've come to hate YT for flagging certain content. for instance, it bugged the shit out of me for the longest time that any kind of an upload containing more than about three notes of b&h immediately triggered a block here in the states. nothing a proxy can't fix, tho! this gig is next up. current forecast for thursday looks, uh, not good. hope it's not washed out. guess i'll have to bring the rain gear. exact stream time should be released tomorrow...for those who give two fucks to watch and/or record.
  13. they really don't have to do much dusting off of assassin, fury, or, to a lesser extent, dead star. showbiz and glorious, however, are another matter. seems as though a good chunk of the ten will become known one way or another prior to the gig.
  14. looks like they are going ahead with a plan to broadcast both muse and lorde on thursday. times TBA, but clearly either one or the other will be on a delay.
  15. as expected, red bull tv is leaning toward featuring lorde on thursday's live stream instead of muse. let the melodrama commence. schedule still not 100% finalized tho (and they could still opt to feature both headliners [one on a delay]), so there's still a slim chance for some to be able to tune in to what is sure to be a standard north american, cookie-cutter, blasé set. (yet i'm still going...) such a pity that another proshot of dig down looks doubtful...
  16. starting to think ur correct. but, from the tallies i've seen, it looks like it might be getting sufficient support to land in the top ten, so i'm scrapping it. still planning on sticking to my plan of voting for a song never played live before, so i might opt for arpeggios and go w/ FAWY instead. looking bleak for RBS...sigh. only a five year hiatus tho, which pales in comparison relative to a good chunk of other songs. if it doesn't make a return somewhere, someday...there'll be hell to pay.
  17. i have until three days before my flight leaves (17th) to cancel w/ a full refund. thankfully, i plan to stay w/ a friend in london, so no accommodation cost. if i get a sense that the band is gonna do some major crawfishing by not playing a chunk of the requests that seem to lead the pack at the end (i assume they'll never divulge the official, final results), i'll GTFO.
  18. it isn't total rubbish. and i don't think that it's all that overrated; only that a fair number of ppl seem to have a soft spot for it for some reason. i always thought of it as a half-assed mishmash that resulted in a hybrid of hysteria, fury, and...starlight, lol. i've decided that i'm going to allocate one vote to a song that's never been played, so out of available songs, that leaves: easily, FAWY, MOYH, and aftermath. i've absolutely no interest in hearing the latter two, so i guess i'll flip a coin b/w easily and FAWY.
  19. i have always wanted to hear a live version of that, so i'd feel like a dunce if i didn't vote for it. haven't submitted my selections yet, but this my current list: ruled by secrecy butterflies & hurricanes new born muscle museum easily take a bow eternally missed city of delusion dead star space dementia still considering: glorious falling away with you assassin sing for absolution futurism showbiz exo-politics invincible i'll prob wait 'til near the end to see where the wind is at that time so i don't submit votes for songs that either seemingly have no shot or are clearly likely to land in the top ten regardless of my submission.
  20. no, the tracks are the same. there's a UK promo variant, where the disc itself is "splotchy" blue and has MUSE in red lettering on it (along with the Dangerous records logo)... ...and then there's a German promo variant, where the disc itself almost looks like a generic, plain-looking CDr with plain black lettering + logos on it. it says "Motor Music GmbH" on the top of the face of the disc. the German version is far rarer than the UK one.
