  1. You have a cool best friend. I also recommend "Money", "Wish You Were Here", "Comfortably Numb", "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", "Have a Cigar", "Welcome to the Machine" and "Pigs". Velvet Revolver have done a cover of "Money", Foo Fighters did "Have a Cigar" for the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack. (I have too much musical knowledge, it's embarrassing sometimes ) I highly recommend DSotM as a good first album to get into. It's a concept album about how the stress of modern living can drive an otherwise normal person insane. Animals is another concept album - about politics - referencing George Orwell's "Animal Farm". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmCfvcfHwKA <---There has been widespread speculation that DSotM was purposely written and recorded to sync with the Wizard of Oz, in terms of music and lyrics.(http://www.turnmeondeadman.net/DSotR/List.php) Watch and decide for yourself. "The Wall" is a semi-autobiographical film based on the life of their former lead singer Syd Barrett (he died last year - Matt is apparently very influenced by Syd's guitar style). It's about a rock singer who has had a bad life since childhood and was on drugs to cope with depression. Eventually, he isolates himself from the rest of society and builds an imaginary "wall" between himself and the rest of the world, with each bad experience in his life being a "brick" in that wall. Hence their famous song "Another Brick in the Wall". It's a visually stunning film, very artsy. Go watch it! I have a couple of old Metallica tapes (Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning), and my Pink Floyd's DSotM casette. I also got some of my dad's old CDs eg the Eagles, Queen, Eric Clapton, Bob Marley, Beatles etc. Vintage.
  2. Aww that sucks. I just bought their DVD "Pulse" Live at Earls Court 1994. Apparently their concerts are quite on the psychedelic side, so it'll be fun to watch. I also have DSotM, Animals and the Wall movie on DVD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSLqbl2Xshs <--- Mind-blowing graphics.
  3. Wow, those are mostly handphone videos right? I think I'll just wait for the DVD. Or at least better quality vids on Youtube.
  4. Wow, so much serious talk about scholarships and whatnot. I just finished my exams, I think I did ok. My entire sleeping pattern has been shifted to the daytime now, I'm always fully awake at night nowadays. Does anyone like Pink Floyd? I just finished watching "The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon" on Youtube. It's a superb prog rock album (I have it on both casette and CD ), I think it was definately a huge influence on Muse's "spacey", grandiose sound. "Time" is my favourite song. The guitar solo is just immense.
  5. OMG we have Roald Dahl fans here??!!? I've been a fan since age 8, my first book was George's Marvellous Medicine. I was addicted after that, I've read all his children's books and adult short stories. I seriously think Mr. Dahl put some strange thoughts in my head, considering I was such a huge fan from an extremely young age.
  6.  The Hysteria vid is a ripoff of one scene in the Pink Floyd movie. Physically, almost everything is the same, from the furniture to the lighting of the room. The storyline is different though. Bob Geldof was the main actor in that movie.  http://www.microcuts.net/uk/misc/pinkfloyd_vs_muse.php  I love just about everything Muse does, so I can't complain. All their videos are ace.
  7. Haven't posted here for awhile. Did YOU know....?? 3 Muse music videos are based on movies. Time is Running Out (Dr. Strangelove) Sing For Absolution (Planet of the Apes - I think) Hysteria (Pink Floyd's The Wall) I'm bored, sorry.
  8. Oooo I wan, I waaaan!! I got no one to get it for me. What's the tracklisting, maybe I can dl it instead.
  9. lmao! Not malu because of that la. It's because I know way too much random facts about music in general. Yeah, it was a tribute. When Thom Yorke sings "This is what you get when you mess with us" you can hear the familiar piano melody in the background. Nah, I can understand what you mean. Any half-decent musician who can't appreciate the Beatles wouldn't get my respect either. They brought such a huge influence on music to this day.
  10. Avril and Black Eyed Peas covering John Lennon. Oh God, no. I'm sure Matt and co have an appreciation for the Beatles. My fave song is While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Random fact: Radiohead's "Karma Police" is a ripoff of the Beatle's song "Sexy Sadie".
  11. 3 of my Muse CDs are original!! And my Hullabaloo DVD. Hellz yeeeaaaaah, I'm a true-blue Muser to the core.
  12. I heard about that. That is a bit worrying. Yeah, our thriving piracy doesn't exactly help either. XD
  13. The popularity of Hitz.fm is responsible for the majority of Malaysians having shit taste in music today. They should improve their playlist larhs. I don't know why, but I watched Avril's video on Youtube just now. That song is irritatingly catchy but damn she's annoying. So Paris Hilton-like eh? Stupid skanks. Paris, Lindsay, Britney etc are all getting into trouble these days and going down the drain. Hope their popularity goes down with them. /rant EDIT: I've watched the Girlfriend video so many times, I'm actually starting to appreciate the song. Aaarrrgghhh
  14. Wasn't Daniel Johns anorexic or something? Anyhoo, I still need to check out their new stuff. Silverchair is great. debbie, I don't have When Incubus Attacks either. Honestly, that new Avril song makes me want to kill people. I've prolly only heard it a couple of times but everyone I know is singing it, so it gets stuck in my head. Damn you, you Canadian skank. Hitz.fm 'school of rock' called her the queen of rock?? I swear that station is retarded. Annoying deejays, repetitive music. Urrghhh.
  15. Mary, Incubus's new album is excellent. All their albums are good, they have consistently evolved musically while maintaining their trademark sound since the beginning. Every album is different but still brilliant. They have mellowed out and matured a lot on the new record. Hullabaloo DVD beats the soundtrack anyday. Avril Lavigne? Ugh, she's annoying.
  16. Me too, me too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_U4heFGlCM&mode=related&search= Kaoss Pad jam.
  17. Oooh, Man of Mystery eh. Sounds good, looking forward to it. Anyhoo, happy b-day to Matt in advance.
  18. I love the Hong Kong incident. Typical HK guy trying to act all cool and tough. But he was just a journalist. And he got beaten up.
  19. No, it was Dom la. "Terima kasih, Malaysia. Buntut saya cantik."
  20. "Howard does most of the talking onstage, reading from cue cards when the language gap needs to be bridged. In the Far East, these visual aids are occasionally sabotaged by his bandmates, so the drummer will greet the audience by saying, 'I've got a nice bum.'" Hong Kong, 3rd March... Bellamy: "There was some guy in a bar, a journalist, who was acting like Mr Big. This is my town, let's go to these places. Then he picked up a glass and lobbed it. It smashed the back of one of our security guys, Tony. He probably couldn't have hit anyone worse than that. He was promptly pummelled to the ground. That's life, isn't it?"
  21. Just saw New Born live at Pinkpop on Youtube. Love Matt's new look. Mary, I don't think musicians are stupid enough to take drugs just before a gig.
