  1. If I were to do it again I'd go straight to full frame to avoid the whole need for future proofing
  2. Ok some extra reading on the lens, sadly 17-40 isn't good for crop, amazing for full frame but not crop. Consider a 5 or 6d, full frame allows you to do proper wide shots
  3. 24-105mm is neat too and has IS but not as wide, we are talking about crazy barrel distortion wide. You do however have more tele on the 24-105 but I don't think 24 is wide enough especially when it's a cropped sensor, 24 on full frame is nice (consider a 5d mark 2 or even 6d if you want full frame, they even come with good everyday lenses (24-70 or 34-105) Best lens to start with is a prime 50mm lens. Mainly because the limitation of focal length encourages creativity (which is why I'm rocking a fixed 23mm)
  4. I'd probably say 16-35mm f2.8 or 17-40mm f4. I have the latter and it does amazing wide shots. It's extreme wide so is perfect for sporty shots of cycling dudes flexing their tightly packed muscle flesh.
  5. there's an interchangeable version called the XPro-1 which I'm kinda GAS'ing on, but I'm probably going to wait until the next version of it comes out. Can rock a full on 55-200mm lens on it (or a 14mm lens), but like all things camera, that obviously comes with the compromise of bulk.
  6. I wrote a review of the x100s if you wanna read http://www.crazybobbles.org/2013/07/23/fujifilm-x100s-review/ If you've got a budget I'd probably recommend a Sony Nex 5 or 6, depending on whether you want a viewfinder
  7. awesomeballs, keen to see how it goes i can shove a 580ex ii on my x100s for absolute lulz, but yeah... never really use all the settings properly. Just so fiddly
  8. wahey! i want to get into lighting but sadly find the setup far too cumbersome to go out with. quite like the idea that you can rock multiple YN560s since it's so cheaps. Man lighting gear is expensive (when you factor in pocket wizards etc)
  9. Wanted to showcase more x100s shots but sadly it's the 5d mk ii this time Got confetti all over my facehole
  10. for starters you have an aperture ring and shutter speed dial. The camera is more of a rangefinder so you have to endure the joys of parallax when using the optical view finder. so grips and handling of the camera makes it handle more like a film camera.
  11. ooh you live in cheshire! PLEASE visit Lyme park and get a shot of Mr Darcy when it arrives there http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/news/mr-darcy-giant-colin-firth-statue-in-londons-hyde-park-recreates-pride-and-prejudice-scene-8695490.html Bottom bit was bokeh of the table i shot it from, originally wanted to crop it out but I loved the additional depth it gave (3 in total) as well as it giving you the feels that you're on the other side of the table (hopefully not masturbating)
  12. Oh and some combo breakers, shots with my x100s I've managed to acquire a tasty gordy strap wrist strap, really nice feels. All kinds of awesome leather Been using the x100s for over a week now and one thing I can definitely say is that it MAKES you want to take photos, it MAKES you want to go out and do something creative or inspiring. The portability helps a great deal in making it such a "pick up and go" camera and quality of the shots it delivers makes you want to bother shooting something. There's the obvious limitations such as the fixed focal length and the cost but once you're over them, there's very little you can knock about it.
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWLEiUI4fY4 sad times, they've been doing it for years and the police hasn't done a thing
  14. i do have fun playing with the black and white settings on the x100s. Has a nice selection of b&w filters to choose from, and actually shooting with it makes the experience more genuine rather than lugging a huge dslr camera that you KNOW can take colour and intentionally making it shoot b&w. i'm playing with multiple exposures atm with the x100s and it might be a case where b&w might help too
  15. yeah i know the feels when the colours don't look right, i usually bin the damn thing than desaturate, i've just got so much association with desaturating the photo as a form of recovering from bad digital noise or colours that don't work right. obviously the end of the day there are definitely some shots that work better b&w
  16. With the recent black and whites, i kinda want to see them all in colour. I love the vivid greens in grass or moss so it's sad to see that detail gone. I'm more happy to do away with skin tone but always have a soft side for green grass and blue skies.
  17. it isn't full frame so pretty much a 35mm equiv. I rock a 23mm on my Fuji X100s and it's a nice focal length to work with, not wide to be honest, though i'm used to 17mm on full frame kinda wide
  18. Never! Much prefer it chrome, far too worried previously of chipping or merking the black pickup but now I go nuts. Plus for me it feels more balanced
  19. If you live in the US, check out this deal: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/883304-REG/Canon_6609b033_EOS_M_Digital_Camera_with.html SO CHEAPS
  20. Gear porn Fujifilm X100S by crazybobbles, on Flickr Such a raging hassle sometimes to get the light tent up for product shots
  21. Got my lightbox out for some better shots. Dicked around with white background too but red popped
  22. Kinda wanna do a 365 again. But I do remember how much hell it was nearer the end.
