rawrsomesauce
Hey guys, I was just wondering, I'm looking for a heavy-ish tone for my cheap strat copy (will probably replace it by 2012 after 7 years!), which strings would be best? What about manson's own brand? Or any others?
james90
I think Mansons are made by rotosound (they're nice) personally I like the ernie ball skinny top heavy bottom (10-52) for that type of thing.

haze015
What do you mean by "heavier" tone for a start?
rawrsomesauce
What do you mean by "heavier" tone for a start? Basically, a heavy sound! Instead of the pop-ish tone I've got now
Impulse 101
Before you get flamed out, strings will have little to no effect on your tone in this context. James' suggestion is a good one but you will need a humbucker in the bridge of your strat to really get a hard rock tone. The Seymour Duncan little '59 or Little JB or little Screaming Demon will be your best bet for the least money. Have the work done by a competent shop and you should still be in under $100 in the US. (I have no idea what it would cost in the UK but it shouldn't be crazy money.) JT
james90
Yeah, I had the little JB in a strat I used to have - could do heavy sounds easily. Not that a stock strat can't.
