The Globalist. I kept it buried for a while, and I listened to it today and man, it's good. That guitar on the "Morricone" part and the vocal delivery is amazing.

Actually, that won't be a bad setlist, but it's really short. I feel bad for American people, it seems like they're treated... unfairly.

 

And, yeah, I don't know why they don't play Defector. I think it would work live.

This wasn't a one off. Matt does this all the time.

I've seen three gigs, and he's done it at all of them. Twice at one. To any number of songs; DS, MC, Fury, Sunburn, PiB for fucks sake.

Once they didn't even play a rare song after the comment; he mentioned that they played the arena in 2000, and none of us were there, and then launched into a staple song.

Another time he said we must all be high since we were so still.

I've lost count of the videos of it I've seen. He was downright rude to the Weenie Roast last year.

 

It's never felt funny, or tongue in cheek; it's usually deadpan serious sounding, or even accusatory/dejected.

And there's a real problem when comments like that constitute the entirety of your banter with the crowd, outside of a thank you at the end.

 

And that's not even touching on the outright badmouthing that band and crew have said to people. It happened in Dallas, shit, it happened with a friend of mine during T2L.

 

Those comments make me think that they're not really enjoying themselves and their actual position. Which, honestly, was their own doing. Releasing singles which don't actually sound like most of the material Muse has released over those years, attracting the masses who don't actually give a damn about anything but their singles... Maybe they feel alienated. These comments are growing in number as time goes by, and it makes me think that with time they could raise a middle finger to all of this. It's affecting their live performances, which now feel more like "put it on automatic" than something passionate.

I wasn't implying that there was anything wrong with liking more upfront lyrics btw, just that it was weird to like something because it has mass appeal.

 

Oh, okey :LOL:. I don't give a damn about how many people like the album or not. But as I understand the idea behind the lyrics trying to reach more people, it's like: "OK, I know now what you want to do, so I'll give you a free pass. But don't do it again" :LOL:. It's more understanding the album concept and the stylistic choices than the wide appeal per se, which I don't care about. And I truly think it was a mistake to dumb down the lyrics. Matt could have written a, at least, decent concept album about brainwashing and a dystopian world with more clever lyrics.

That it helps people who don't know how to analyse doesn't change the way I see them though. Your opinion ofc but I don't understand why you would start to enjoy it more just because it has mass appeal.

 

Kinda like enjoying pop music because others can appreciate it.

 

Oh, no, I obviously enjoy more the dark and obscure lyrics of other Muse songs. I prefer them by miles. I don't consume music like: "2 singles for this artist and move on". I like to analise the songs and it's part of my enjoyment of music. It's more like I can understand why they did it, so I appreciate it more (like giving them a free pass), but I'd like it to be the last album which has very lazy lyrics. Matt is not an awesome lyricist, but he could write some good bits. I'm even receptive on them hiring a good lyricist and focusing on the music, which I think it's Muse's strong point. Or even going instrumental, but that'd be a bold move I don't think they'll make.

Wow, Matt going badass doesn't suit him well :LOL:. And it's obviously not a "fan" problem. If you release songs with mainstream appeal, you'll obviously attract a legion of new fans who don't listen to the old and hidden stuff. Though I can get why they don't play it often. I feel like if I was playing on stage, I'd like people to go nuts and feel the atmosphere. It's kind of depressing seeing the crowd reaction on CE.

It seemed like there wasn't as much song discussion with this album as there was with the previous ones. Unless I just missed everything.

 

Yeah, I haven't seen a lot of interviews discussing the songs. I think Matt is like: "What do you want to discuss about the songs? They're subtle as an elephant in the kitchen" :LOL:. I must say I'm starting to enjoy the "in your face" lyrics. It was obviously a stylistic choice and it helps the message to have wide appeal. In an era where people is listening to music like fast food, it's not like a lot of people analyse and stop to think about the lyrics. It's just, "hey, what is this song about? It doesn't mind, move on to the next song between one million songs on Spotify". :LOL:

Yeah, Dead Inside is an awesome song. It's grown on me after a "meh" first listening. One of, if not the best Muse's pop song. It's up there with Madness, which I find great too.

Revolt, I like it more as time goes by. Same with the whole album, actually, which is a great sign since I started to dislike The 2nd Law one month after its release :LOL:.

A que no? Yo es que la primera vez que escuché Radiohead fue en base a esas comparaciones, pensando: "con lo que me están molando los Muse estos, Radiohead me gustan fijo", y me gustan, peeeeeeeeeeero.... No es lo mismo ni de coña

 

Pues han cerrado los hilos-chorra de canciones, como el de "Cuál es tu canción favorita de Muse que empiece por K?", o el de "mejor uso de tal nota en Drones" y cosas por el estilo. Que no me extraña que los cierren, pero eran una buena forma de matar el tiempo

Por cierto, Street Spirit es amor Tiene un no-sé-qué que qué-sé-yo que me encanta demasiado. Creo que es la que más me gusta de Radiohead, aunque también escucho sólo sus tres primeros discos (lo siento Kid A....)

 

In Rainbows quizás es mi disco favorito de Radiohead, así que ya puedes empezar a escucharlo como 20 veces al día :LOL:. Tanto no, pero yo tuve mi época de escucharlo día sí, día también . Reckoner es una de mis canciones favoritas, desde que tengo oídos xDDD.

Nah, yo siempre creí que en realidad sacas cosas buenas de casi todos los estilos (menos quizás el reggaetton? :LOL:). Lo importante es que cada uno sienta la música que escucha y pista. A parte que cada cual vale para diferentes épocas y situaciones. Por mucho que me encante escuchar Street Spirit de Radiohead en casa, prefiero escuchar Shake it Off de Taylor Swift de fiesta :happy:

Yo digo lo mismo: me encaaaaaaanta Revolt. Desde la primera escucha Al principio pensé que sería el hype por toda la gente que había criticándola, pero no, me mola demasiado. Espero que vaya bien en la radio, y a ver cómo es en directo

 

Al principio choca en el contexto del disco, que es así bastante rockero en la primera parte. Y de repente te meten quizás la canción más pop de su discografía . Pero bueno, en realidad es algo de lo que busco en el grupo, que sorprendan y creo que es una muy buena canción pop, aunque entiendo que mucha gente no busca ese estilo en Muse. Gustos :LOL:

Pues yo creo que es una decisión acertada. Es la más pegadiza del disco, es divertida, motivante, optimista, positiva y, qué cojones, a mí me sigue encantando desde que la escuché :LOL:. Aunque admito que al principio me chocó de narices, se le acaba cogiendo el gustillo . Cierto es que también me gustan bastante las ñoñadas, así que... :LOL:

It is bugging me that people are OK when Muse don't take their music seriously. And now I am expecting a comment that says "they never did".

 

I don't know why we assume this song is not serious. Light-hearted, theatrical, uplifting... but I wouldn't call it non-serious.

Me da igual el setlist ahora mismo, sea lo que sea I'm ready

 

La primera vez es una gran experiencia (hablo de conciertos de Muse ahora mismo ). Aún a pesar de que no me encantó el setlist la primera vez que los vi, sólo por ser la primera vez que los veía en directo, salté cual cabra loca en pista, hice unos pogos, me quedé sin voz a mitad de concierto y tuve que sentarme media hora a recuperar fuerzas. Así que tampoco estuvo mal :LOL:
