  1. Damn it. I don't know if I can pull it off.

I'd literally just go to see them, and head straight back afterwards.

Did you hear the webster hall recording? I haven't downloaded it yet, but I heard they left in SS + riffs and also the rarer songs, and left out madness??

Yea I listened to it, was pretty decent, some parts were a little rough on mix levels but nothing terrible. Everything was there except madness.

I watched the iHeart show too, was pretty good. They cut Uprising, but I knew they would, Matts guitar went out of tune mid song and he fixed it during the song.

  2. Hey sidious, they're broadcasting the webster hall recording on altnation this monday :awesome: Not sure if I can listen from the UK though. Hopefully someone will record it.

Yea I heard the commercial for it yesterday on AltNation coming home from work. My concern is how much they butcher the set list. Last time they streamed a Muse set, they cut some great songs including Glorious iirc.

  3. Yeah, I like the handler, but I don't think it would be as good live as psycho

But then I haven't seen it live so I'm probably wrong

When I heard the studio version of Psycho, I never expected it to be as crazy as it is live. The Handler is a slower riff, might not be as crazy as Psycho live, but that riff and falsetto... I cannot wait!

Surprised a leak of the bonus DVD has not shown up anywhere either, iirc the Handler Soundcheck is on there.

  4. reapers > psycho > the handler > defector > dead inside > mercy

Interesting, I cannot get enough of the handler.

I'd have to say The Handler > Reapers / Defector > Dead Inside > Psycho > Mercy

I cannot decide between Reapers and Defector yet, I find myself singing Defector a lot already. Dead Inside and Psycho switch places when you consider them live because Psycho is insane live.

  5. Doesn't seem like he's doing it right either :phu:

He isn't pulling off the one note to the open string, so the entire tapping section is missing a ton of notes.

As for the later half of the album, Reapers > The Handler > JFK + Defector is a great top point of the album, just amazing. Then the album starts to bring itself back down, resolve everything, the moods really match the story, I enjoy it.

I didn't like my first listen very much because I expected more heavy stuff. I am really enjoying the content now though.

  6. You can get them on ebay. I bought some from there and they're pretty good (haven't got the link though, sorry), although I think the Manson ones are probably higher quality.

What did you search for, this may interest me too

  7. Need a quick bit of soldering advice!

The 3 sticky out bits (see link) I need to bend one back and solder it onto the bottom of the pot, am I alright to undo the little clip holding it down? My wiring diagram isn't very helpful.

Just bend it back, no need to unclip it. Some people also just run a small piece of wire from the lug to the back of the pot and solder that, but I much prefer just doing the lug right to the back, one glob of solder and done.

Yea I listened to it, for the most part they nail the song live. I find the verse is much heavier live than it was in the recording, but I'm okay with that since it gives the album song a big transition to heavyness for pre-chorus and chorus.

The chorus vocals are soooo much clearer than what Matt uses live for his vocal effects, so glad this is the case! They had played Reapers how many times live and nobody was really certain what the lyrics for the chorus were.

  8. I honestly have no idea what's meant to be happening with all those levers, that thread moves so fast at the moment. All gone a bit tits up though by the looks of it

Basically you'd go to the location of the level, and when you got there, the web site on your phone would say congrats blah blah and allow you to watch the reapers video.

  9. If there was one way to describe my reaction, it would be the guy at 1:13 in this video.

    hahah the annotation is great.

UPDATE: The loonie to my right did not actually end up killing anyone. He, instead, was reduced to tears upon listening to Guiding Light and had to be removed from the pit, lured by a pacifier and wheeled out in a stroller.

  10. Mine were quite stiff the first time and it took some muscle to loosen them up so that they would move. I was for sure worried I was doing something wrong because of the amount of force required.

The fact it broke is concerning... Could always just use that tuner for the Low E string though.

It is a pretty easy process, and I can remember which way you actually have to turn the allan key, but from the video it looks like to the right which would be opposite of convention. Maybe someone who has the tuners by them can confirm the direction.

  11. In fact, I was 15-20 rows back and we were jumping like crazy.

Around Animals I shifted to 10th row and after that stayed there for 2-3 songs and I felt that back where I were before there was more crowd action.

It was tighter and more hot upfront, so I could not jump well, so I went back and resumed my happy jumping. All 5 of my friends around me were jumping and screaming all the time.

I loved this gig, brought me back to the past. Matt seems happy and he did everything perfectly, not sure why he threw the guitar, usually he does it if he is not happy with something. My first time seeing him throw the guitar LIVE :p

Matt throws his guitar a lot live now, it started during 2nd law tour, almost every night he was throwing a guitar around.

  12. This gig was nuts. Apparently the floor moving was an intentional thing though. I guess it is a suspended floor, and is designed to do that a bit.

Before the gig started, I was watching the guitar and bass techs doing checks on all the gear, hoping to see the CE7 guitar being setup or something. I saw the Madness bass, and I was sooo disappointed at first because I was hoping that song wouldn't make an appearance.

After about 15 seconds into the song, with everyone singing along, it was just a realization that even if it isn't my fav song, it just really seems to work well, and majority of the crowd was into it and singing along. It was really nice to have the song be about the music this time instead of the gimmick of video glasses and lasers and all that other stuff from 2nd law tour.

On top of everything else, Madness was a welcomed chance to breathe for a few minutes after the initial surge of energy in the show!

  13. I take it you only brought the paper from the X-Y pad to be signed? Pretty cool anyway - I didn't get anything signed, but still...

And which shows did the drumstick and pick come from? If that's the webster hall drumstick, you're lucky you got that! I had my hand on it for less than a second, then everyone went toppling over trying to get it... then the security got angry at us

    "BACK UP! BACK UP!"

    "We can't!"

I probably could have got a pick or setlist if I waited a few more minutes, but I've never felt that dehydrated in my life. It was boiling in there.

The Drum stick is webster hall, yea it was not an easy fight for it. I jump and had got a hand on it in the air, and like 6 other people grabbed at it. Lucky for me everyone very extremely sweaty, so nobody could get great grips on it.

I got a drum stick at the iHeart gig too actually, but I gave it to my friend from NYC since she +1 me into the show! The pick is also from the iHeart radio gig.

As for the screen, yea I cut a couple pieces of diffuser paper to size and brought them with me to NYC and got that signed.

  14. Haha there are a lot of food places around that area!

Also, I just got home from Lenny Kravitz at Webster Hall. Ooo boy it's a small room. And hot, hot, hot. Don't remember it being so toasty. Here's a pic from when I was standing all the way at the back wall before the show just to give you an idea

Fuck, thats a great view from the back of the venue!
