General Gear and Tab Season IV: Can it play barre chords?
sidious911 replied to Dave.'s topic in Kit & Tab
I'm always hiding in the week here lurking the sweet gear. I'm a big fan of Highly Suspect, their album was fantastic.- 5,960 replies

General Gear and Tab Season IV: Can it play barre chords?
sidious911 replied to Dave.'s topic in Kit & Tab
Also make sure you have the right tip for the job. If you have a pencil tip and you are trying to solder to the back of a pot you will find it harder. A chisel tip will transfer the heat much faster and make it much easier to get the heat on and off again without harming the pot. Once you've gotten comfortable with soldering techniques, you can hack your way through with the wrong tip a lot easier. Also, when you buy a multi meter, look for one that has continuity beep mode When you are just testing continuity of connections, so much easier to just listen for a beep while touching the probes to things instead of trying to make sure probes are on and watch the reading.- 5,960 replies

General Gear and Tab Season IV: Can it play barre chords?

Exactly, they are a must to have on hand for any electronics work. There are so many times a solder joint looks good, but really isn't when you test it. When ever I do solder work I always test all components I will be working with to ensure that they work and are proper tolerances. After I make a solder join I always check the continuity to make sure things are good. Makes life so much easier, because if you wait till the end, you have to carefully test each piece of try to find the problem.- 5,960 replies

That might have been premature, you should have just tested the pots / switch with a meter to see if they were dead. Did you test your solder connections to make sure they were good too?- 5,960 replies

Just ignore the two wires taped off from each pickup since a P90 won't have those, they'll just have the standard two leads. The Seymour Duncan wiring diagram database will have pretty much anything you ever need for guitar wiring!- 5,960 replies

You might be hard pressed to get the battery into the cavity for the kill switch, especially with a switch still in there. Second issue is that the kill switch in the guitar is a momentary switch, so that wont do you any good as you will have to hold the button down to turn sustainiac on. Pretty sure sustainiac still has a second control you would want (mode). IMO if you are going to do it, do it right.

General Gear and Tab Season IV: Can it play barre chords?
sidious911 replied to Dave.'s topic in Kit & Tab
I hold my pick just in my middle finger. Basically like this, but I prefer middle finger. I tend to hold my pick like this whenever I need to actually use my right hand to do something, adjust pedal, plug cable in etc etc.- 5,960 replies

Usually the best way to find something like this that is already made is Check for a Guitar Pro tab someone has made for those songs. They have often made a MIDI track for the other pieces of the song as well which you could export and use however you'd like.- 5,960 replies

Just make sure all the pedals you try to daisy chain use the same power type. Some Pedals have Centre Positive, others have Centre Negative. http://neunaber.net/blogs/brian-s-notes/13849473-pedal-power-basics Can't remember the common one off the top of my head, my most pedals are the one type. Good to just double check so you don't ruin a pedal.- 5,960 replies

General Gear and Tab Season IV: Can it play barre chords?
sidious911 replied to Dave.'s topic in Kit & Tab
Generally speaking yes, but some pedals just do not like it. There are just some pedals out there which hate sharing their power and have a bunch of noise when not isolated. The only way to know for sure is to try it. I had a couple pedals all daisy chained on from a 1-spot power adapter without any issues.- 5,960 replies

I still cannot understand why they have only ever played defector once live. We need fans on the ground finding out what the hell is going on, and getting it fixed.- 5,960 replies

I know on my mattocaster I went for the 3-way switch, and I prefer it. It is an ON-OFF-ON configuration so you can easy staccato just throwing the switch fully. It gives the benefit of being able to use it as a volume kill during guitarless portions. I find it most useful when playing a part where I'm not just at 10 volume, and I've actually dialed into a 'sweet spot' for my volume. When I need to kill the sound I can use the switch without having to relocate the sweet spot on the volume dial without when I start playing again.

I have not, but depending on the dimensions of the hole in the body for kill switch button, and the size of the cavity in the back of the guitar for it, it would be an easy swap. Woudl be two simple small solder points onto lugs of a 3-way switch and you are set to go.

Yea it came back at the last gig, but it was in the Revolt slot.. JFK -> Reapers. I just want to see some of the new content on the DRONES tour! Revolt, Defector, The Handler, The Globalist. Then give us a fair mix of some other content. Less playback would be nice.- 5,960 replies

I get e-mails for contests that are going on for the one Toronto station (same one that was giving away a trip to the Webster Hall gig). I've not seen anything Muse related from them. Everything about this whole tour is weird and feels like half effort.

I cannot understand how Reapers and Revolt are possibly in rotation now? This tour continually makes me say wtf. As much as I want some oldies in the set and such, I do want to see the new content from the album, cutting Revolt/Reapers seems crazy, as well as leaving Defector out. I guess I can understand no aftermath. Starting to be very nervous about the upcoming gigs I have tickets for.. Will I actually get to see Revolt live at least once?? Will the show actually have full production or will the Drones be broken again?- 5,960 replies

I've heard nothing for around me. Then again, I do not listen to local radio because the radio stations are shit. I only listen to my own music or SiriusXM
