  1. Apparently mid-January next year there's going to be a new music festival in NZ, which isn't something that happens every day. Now, I never would have considered Muse for this in my wildest dreams but listen to this

I want to get two of our major headliners on this release, and gladly (understated) one of those special headline artists locked in earlier this week. This is a band that hasn’t played here for a while (skipped past NZ on their way through Australia twice I think) and are renowned for their live shows. Can anyone guess?

Ring any bells? They did play BDO in 2010 though which may or may not count...

I know Muse is almost definitely touring the US in Dec/Jan so the chance this is happening is highly unlikely, but it's not impossible if they play fewer shows (as the 360 stage suggests) and the tour ends early Jan.

Still it feels like a very odd detour, though if it happens I'd like to imagine it's to make up for skipping us the last two tours :indiff:

Also from what I can tell from a quick google, Big Day Out isn't happening next year so it's not like they're heading down for that at the same time.

Edit - saw that this new festival is supposedly "a cross between big day out and lane ways out in the bush." They're going to have to move sheep to free up the paddocks. Maybe that's what's attracted Matt lol

  2. Watching the Roskilde gig now, the audio quality is superb for a festival stream  this performance is also definitely the best out of all the streams/tv performances thus far. I'm not a big fan of Psycho as a song but I've finally been convinced of its live potential, it's so energetic here. The emotional end bits of The Handler and Dead Inside seem even more powerful than before as well, could just be the great audio quality though.

  3. Mostly he's great at conveying emotion in some relatively basic statements. He sings the hell out things like "When will this loneliness be over," "I want you now," "Why can't we start it over again?" and so on, all of which are hugely common human thoughts and emotions, which is why so many of us love those songs. Very rarely he'll take it one step further and actually throw in some clever turn of phrase in there and we'll latch on to it to defend his lesser moments (looking at that one Hoodoo line everyone throws out when this argument comes up), but for the most part its very raw emotional lines that work best for him. And no, that doesn't make him Julian Casablancas, but there is still something to be said for that ability.

You put my thoughts into words. The bit about Hoodoo made me laugh because it's so true

  4. For some reason I've started to like Pyscho again. I do agree the drill sergeant needed to be better integrated into the song, like they do with the riff rather then in separate bits. I also agree that it is very repetitive too. However in context I actually love the lyrics, for a dark subject matter you do need a fun song or two. You have to admit it has balls.

I actually don't mind the verses, the lyrics are alright and I like the melody. There are enough fun songs on the album though, Mercy, Defector, Revolt. I wish we got one truly dark weird song that delved deep into the protagonist's mind...

  5. Matt is still kinda strained and out of breath in the first half before Munich Jam, I thought he was going to bust a vein in Microcuts :(

The rest of the gig sounds much better though and the last "I wish I could" in SS is so good holy shit there's actually power behind it for once.

  6. The Twilight soundtrack was my introduction to music outside of the Top 40 :yesey: no regrets

Also the deluxe edition of the soundtrack (lol) included a vid of SMBH from HAARP and I was like goddamn that's a production
