  1. The live version is already appalling tbh and needs fixing pronto, for reasons which don't reflect on the studio version's quality that much.
  2. Why do people think that songs are somehow redeemed by having a "true" or "classic Muse" sound? If anything that just makes it worse if it's bad. EDIT: Also this isn't.
  3. They really should have made this more like Blackout, would have worked brilliantly then.
  4. The sheer "safeness" of Survival's main melody is one of my main beefs with the song, the more awkward sound on this makes it more interesting IMO.
  5. It's too short because the best part - the tremolo part - lasts barely over 15 seconds. And then they basically deliberately mush everything up so they don't have to bother with any kind of actual sensible resolution of the melody into the piano bit. EDIT: I should say though, this is easily my favourite of the 2nd half songs. It's just so bafflingly structured, I'm genuinely unsure how they thought this would do justice to the potential the song had. It almost sounds... unfinished.
  6. Currently the track that's growing the fastest on me. It's just so totally and utterly different to anything they've ever done before that its flaws are much easier to forgive than on Major Key Pop Rock Song With Multitrack Vocals number whateverthefuckwe'reon.
  7. I don't think he's really talking about length timewise there. It certainly feels a bit short for a 53 minute album, but whether that's because we've got the album in little bits making it feel shorter - which is not entirely their fault - or because there's a lot of repeated themes, ideas, melodies etc etc making it feel like there's "less" music in there for the physical time it lasts for - which is definitely their fault - I don't know.
  8. Yeah agree with this. Weird to think that a 10 minute song is too short, but it definitely is. I really hope they do something similar to what they do with B&H live and draw out that tremolo bit to make the transition to piano a lot smoother.
  9. If you think the rest of it are beautiful, that's hardly grounds for disappointment though.
  10. Haha, I'm just going to ignore that completely and still think of the lyric as "transformation" tbh.
  11. In fairness, (as I said in the other thread), this is far from the first time they have written a song or a massive chunk of a song directly on top of a well-known classical piece. It used to be a signature thing of theirs. (though perhaps not... quite this obvious)
  12. Listened to it far more than the other second half songs already. Probably indicative.
  13. Because Matt more or less straight up implied it was CE2, IIRC
