I'd forgotten it was NME Awards night tbh. (EDIT: I also see Muse won the Best Festival Headliner award... swear its been a while since they've taken a gong home from this one)
But yeah... Fury 2.0 it most definitely sounds like its not. Unless he was mixing up his tracks.

"They" will probably be the bad guys again in Thought Contagion.
They push fake neeeeeeeeews
Into our social feeeeeeeeeds
Babe
Fuck it could use a new cheesy vaguely political chorus to sing along too
-
Yeah the drums in Resistance are pretty decent, even if I'm not the greatest fan of the song.
As a composite of everything, I think Butterflies & Hurricanes and Citizen Erased are particularly impressive. I also think Survival kinda works, even if the lyrics are a bit simpler than those two.
-
I'm tempted to wonder if the release of Thought Contagion might coincide with some extra dates.
-
Seems to be a general aesthetic for this album, given its similarity to the Dig Down art from last year.
Least that's the theory. Bit hard to reconcile with a heavier track if this is what Thought Contagion turns out to be.

My thoughts...
1. Origin
2. Absolution
3. Black Holes
4. Showbiz
5. Drones/The 2nd Law
6. Resistance
For me, Drones has more individual songs I prefer, but The 2nd Law feels better as a collection of songs. Certainly I prefer the production of it.
-
Absolution was my favourite until a few years ago, but its moved towards Origin of late. Clearer production helps.

I thought Muse might be a shout for that thing at Knebworth until it was revealed to be a full-on 90's Britpop nostalgia event.
-
Full line-ups for Teenage Cancer Trust and (my suggestion) of BST Hyde Park. Nopes for both for Muse. Guess something else for the speculation.

MuseWiki says there are string players credited for Take a Bow, City of Delusion, Hoodoo and Knights of Cydonia.
Although tbh I only really hear the CoD and Hoodoo ones. Where in Take a Bow and KoC would one find them?
-
Heard the first third or so of a live version of Uprising while in the crowd before the Chelsea v Newcastle FA Cup tie.
-
If they're only just doing a video then I don't think we'll have anything for a few weeks yet.
Although that's assuming the video and the song get a simultaneous release... did that happen with Dig Down?
-
I liked it as a viewing experience. Very different. And I don't think the atmosphere on my 360 show was that harmed - not the best, but I've been in worse crowds. Saying that, it wasn't as energetic as the Wembley or Emirates shows, nevermind smaller theatre gigs.
Still no Shepherd's Bush though.

Heard a snippet of Endlessly on The One Show
-
I like the Knights of Cydonia video. It seems to play as both parody and homage of sci-fi and western movies, and seems to be knowingly daft along the way, which works for me. Though my favourite vid is probably Time is Running Out or maybe even Sing for Absolution.
For the Drones stuff, it was hit and miss. For instance, I liked the now de-listed Mercy lyrics video more than the actual one. Reapers and Handler had good ones. Revolt's was just a bit much.

I didn't need to re-appreciate Map of the Problematique, as that's a bona fide Muse classic, but I found a YouTube account of the album half-step down, and it sounds really good. Think its the same tuning as the snippet of MOTP played at the London Olympics.

Nice photo.
The shot of Billie Joe from Green Day at Pinkpop looks pretty cool as well.
-
Yeah I'm pretty sure the nearest to video recording was Tom Kirk's Instagram stream. Still, pretty nice gestures and everything.
-
Yes. In the trailer for 'Britannia'
shown in the pre-film trailers for Return of the Jedi
hadn't noticed TV trailers at the cinema before
Aye it turned in the trailers before my showing of Star Wars as well, and lengthier than on the TV as well.
Sky must be paying pretty big money to get it into these screenings.
-
I like the idea of getting the new song as a Christmas present, but that might be a bit too gimmicky a release.
Bet it'll be another performance of Hysteria.
-
SBE was streamed (though they didn’t specify that tbf). Not well, but it was streamed
If we count Instagram live, then yes.
Tbf that was good work from all for keeping a stable bandwith for that long.

Psycho riffs in the trailers for a new Sky Atlantic drama.

I like the opening riff but it does venture on sonic territory I'm not as arsed by (30 Seconds, FOB, etc) and it does go for too many "Woahohohohs".
Might work fairly well live, mind.
