Yes, but when I heard it in Paris a few weeks ago, it didn't sound like a flanger. Watching this video, it clearly is a flanger, my bad. What about Mercy or The Handler ?

Hey guys, I've been listening to some Muse these days, and I was wondering if Matt still uses phaser. It sounds like it's more like a filter (on Psycho or Mercy). Maybe he still uses phaser (from the Axe FX II) on Plug In Baby or other older songs, but I can't hear a lot of phaser in the recent songs and shows. Speaking about MB's guitar sound, it was my main influence for years (and I think it still is), but I think I'm going to sell my Whammy V. My only use of it was to do the "Morello thing" and solos from New Born, Sunburn, etc... and it takes so much place on my pedalboard.

Hi guys, which compressor would you recommend to get Matt Bellamy's compressed sound ? I already got the Hotone (didn't keep it because I didn't like the size and wasn't amazed by how it sounded) and tried the Mooer but it was very very subtle, it's designed to be an "always-on" pedal. I want to use the compression as an effect on arpeggios or to get more sustain (I think about Animals and the slide part of The Globalist and Invincible). Matt uses the Keeley Compressor, and the most similar compressor seems to be the MXR Dyna Comp. (I don't have a lot of money to spend so I'm only looking for smoething "cheap" : MXR Dyna Comp, MXR Super Comp, Mooer Yellow Comp, Boss CS3, etc...) What are your thoughts ?

Did someone try the TC Electronic Dark Matter ? I was interested since it's very cheap and I saw it in the MUSEum recently. Is it any good ? I'm now tired of my EHX Soul Food, and I find the Boss BD2 not natural sounding when the gain is at 10 o'clock. I already have the Mooer Black Secret as a distortion, but I don't know if it's similar to the Dark Matter.

Reapers and Defector are full of Whammy... Speaking about the Drones World Tour, from my point of view, it's a disaster. The setlist is short, full of pre-recorded songs (Drones played 2 times, really ?), no oldie, no rarity, no new orchestration of an old song, no concept (wasn't the album meant to be played in the same order live ?). The lightshow can't make all these cons disappear. I hope they'll change that for Europe. I can't imagine Muse playing 6 times this boring setlist in Paris, or changing only 2 or 3 songs. What's the interest of playing Assassin, The Groove, Uno, Muscle Museum, Fury, Unnatural Selection, Agitated, Hyper Music, Micro Cuts, Dead Star, Map Of The Problematique, Futurism during the Psycho Tour and playing none of these during the World Tour.

From what we've seen and heard, it seems that his sound is very similar to his sound for the The 2nd Law era. Matt never used overdrive or distortion pedals, all comes from the amps (now the amp modelers). And now with the Kemper, it's very difficult to know his settings. The only thing that we know is that he's still using the Fuzz Factory (it's in his new Cooper Bomber guitar, used only for non-Fuzz Factory songs). I listened to The Groove ant it doesn't sound like he's using the Fuzz Factory on it. He has now 2 main distorted sounds : one with not many gain, but very dynamic (Psycho), and one very fuzzy sound (the bridge of Dead Inside). We'll see with the rest of the album if he has particular sounds for the new songs (Reapers is the Whammy-song, he uses several settings on it)

I wanted to have a compressor to "test the effect", I bought one of the cheapest and smallest (I made my choice between this one and the Mooer Yellow Comp). I can't say if it's a very good compressor, but it works very well and it has very good reviews.

Some pictures of my last pedalboards : I recently (today) sold my RAT2 (it doesn't cut through the mix) and bought a Mooer Cruncher. The flanger (Mooer Eleclady) replaced the phaser (EHX Nano Small Stone), i just wanted to test this effect with my band. And I think I don't like the sound of the Small Stone.
