Well I'm balanced because I really felt this album but in a way I see your point, it's true that in a song like defector, his anger seems too much, and even reapers (which I love!) he just describes... But I think the music speaks for itself so I don't really mind after all

Well when I heard Dead Inside I thought it was quite emotional, and so with other songs like handler, mercy or aftermath... It's acting, of course he's not pursued by drones in a war against dark forces...

For me now it's : Absolution > Drones > Oos > Bhar ... Never been a big fan of oos as an album (some songs are incredibly amazing tho)! Really excited to see Drones live! Even revolt (which I love) could be a killer live!

Well I'll put my review here as well . Out of 10 of course (it's all my opinion and only mine ) Dead Inside - 9 : Love it, feels groovy and yet so emotional, which wasn't the strong point with Muse before. Psycho - 7.5 : Great riff but a bit repetitive, but I can only imagine that this song live must be awesome. Mercy - 6.5 : Good one but nothing special to me, sounds like Muse was inspired by Muse. Reapers - 9.5 : Best one in years (along with supremacy... yeah, I like supremacy ), can't describe how good it is! Handler - 9 : Hate it or love it, I love it. It's simple, it's rocking, it's strong, it's Muse. Defector - 7.5 : Solid riff, lyrics a bit strange but I never stop myself at lyrics (or I'd never have listened to Muse in the first place ) Revolt - 7 : Well... Yeah, it grew on me big time (first time I wound have given a 2 maximum). I know it's silly, it's not Muse, but it's super catchy and stays in your head, and the verses are actually really heavy. Aftermath - 8.5 : Really good, totally surprising from Muse. Might have been a 9 or even 9.5 if the guitar didn't sound so much like "One" from U2. Globalist - 7 : Let me get this straight, it's a good song. Good concept, but I expected more, not something different though, I like it the way it is, but it has (yes, present) all the ingredients to be a 12 at least, but somehow it sticks to me as "the super song everyone awaits but I'll give only 90 percents of creativity". Drones - 8 : Come on people, of course we will never listen to it again, of course it's not a standalone song, but for what it is (the conclusion of the story of a concept album, told in an accapella choir kind of music) it's brillant ! Overall : 8/10 ! It's all tastes, some of you will agree, some of you won't, but I enjoyed the hell of this album. I don't mind the lyrics but I find it a very good idea to start with and it's been beautifully told by Matt, Dom and Chris (god, those bass sounds, orgasmic!). They would have made the perfect album for me with another song instead of Mercy and given more thought on Globalist. Albums ranking (here comes the hate : I'm ranking how I feel about the ALBUMS in OVERALL, not individuals songs from albums) Absolution > Drones > Origin > BHAR > 2nd Law > Resistance > Showbiz

I think the globalist is part of the story but in a different manner... The whole story is from dead inside to aftermath but I think Globalist (and Drones, which feels attached) is a "potential following", meaning "what if the hero actually revolted too far and became like the opressor he was trying to get rid off in the first place, then realises what he's done". The whole song could then be some kind of thinking about humanity which means that you can go to the "dark side" too, not everything is all black or white... Well that's what I understood.

He got sucked in the drones system, doesn't mean everyone is in the system. And I don't think it's so precise, it's just that he lost the capabity and the concept of love, which he rediscovers in aftermath

Well I got with it the first time, but I totally get why some people are having trouble with this one, it's agressive sometimes, but not in a good way :-)

Ok I need to share this... At first I was like "what the fuck, muse is now a "heal the world" kind of band... Then I just listened to it right now and, for the first time with a muse song, I was struck with a feeling of happiness and hope, and I love that. Now I can actually say that the album is brillant! (it was the last song I was kind of having difficulties with)

God I would love to see a making of reapers and handler and, strangely enough, revolt!

Well, I love it now! The only part that's kind of bothering me is the "you can grow" harmonies (and yet, it's purely personal)

Did someone got to watch the Drones DVD? If so, is there only studio footage of defector and globalist or is there more songs? (I know about the live videos)

Not a big fan of the chorus, but the verses/solo are super catchy and good, i think!

Phew, I see I'm not the only one disappointed by it... Seriously tho, first part good, metal part ok, last part would have been very good but it's exactly like the end of aftermath, so it's repetitive with that...

Yeah That's what I thought but I mean it's a proof that Matt really thought about it, contrary of T2L which was a bit splashed in several places (despite that I absolutely love some of its songs)

As always we can pray for lord Wolstenholme! I don't know about you but I think the bass lines and sound/groove/feel is just superb on this album!
