went to buy a china today, had the range of £100 tested absoutly loads of them. First of all was the PST3 - ( no more should be said ) PST5 - liked it but wasn't enough...ooomph then i expected it to have AAX - LOVED IT, loud aggressive, perfect tone Wuhan - suprsingly good for the price, £55 18" wasnt really brilliant though Zildjian A Custom - was brillaint but to much (£165) Pasite RUDE - great china, great tone but something about it didn't really give it away for me i decided in the end to go for the AAX, a snip at £90 including a free boom stand so im chuffed:D

ive never had a lesson and i don't struggle really, i can usually pick it up by ear first or second time i hear it, apart from quite difficult techniques that i have to see the drummer do

that fast fill he does in assassin, its just him on drums playing fast between snare, rack and floor tom

he does use A customs, his 2nd crash was an A custom, as for that holed cymbal i don't like it nice sound and everythin but not as full, i knew from the live shows they played his cymbals wern't sounding...full, not a big fan, should shove a big beefy 19" K on it

ANYWAY, in more recent news i have suceeded in selling my Ludwig! my parents were struggling for cash so i gave em a helpin hand with a nice big fat 960 squid but they have also said they will buy me another kit for UNDER £300, now i've been looking at these DDrums, can anyway give me any info on them? how the sound? quality? jizzzzzz

does look like a yamaha, i heard that elsewere to DUDE! the MP snare was seriously amazing i was in the sound proof room for 30 mins just with that snare and i couldn't believe it Ive always wanted to get the perfect resonance out of a snare, not to ringy and not to sharp and it felt perfect a nice crack sound with a perfect overtone i then asked how much and the guy said 549.99 it was then when my heart sank:(

thats a nice kit i like it a lot, i guess the words piccolo snare makes you shudder? im obsessed with cracky sharp snares im going to my local drum shop to try 3 things out now MP Sig snare, Iron Cobra pedals annnnnnd DW 5000/9000

by the sounds of it you love fat snares, i would recommend a Ludwig Black Beauty but by the sounds of it there to small for your liking, what colour is the kit? want a double bass, its either between the Iron Cobra or DW 7000

it is yeah, Niles i agree the Hawaiian Thunder finish is not that impressive, but i wouldn't say no could you give specs on your kit mr niles please? I quite like the idea of combining zildjian and sabian cymbals together. The HHX series of sabian are amazing, the perfect tones out of a crash cymbal, dark with a hint of trash, but then also you have the A's and the K's of Zildjian yum:D

Im confused, majorly, my mates has just bought a STAGG kit, I have just got back from his house after playing on it and it sounds brilliant, the skins are remo powerstroke 3's as someone pasted the link (thank you sir) and the kit sounds brilliant all for £250 :|

mmm, id say im not especially fond of the sparkle finishes, they do look really impressive but i muse say the Starclassic Exotic line have some nice finishes. I loved Dom's chrome jobby but now started to go of it a tad is there any links to your kit mr Niles?
  18. 6ixty_6ix

    Doms Drums

i don't understand why Starclassic's cost THAT much, its almost £1000 just for the 4 drums, it really annoys me when I try totalling up the kit i EVENTUALLY want it comes to nearly £5000, god knows how much Portnoy's kit is worth Thats another issue raised, what is portnoy's sig snare like? really does look nice has any one tried it here? EDIT: What are the Remo drum heads which are coated and have 2 thin blue lines an inch into the skin?

i seriously doubt dom doing a solo, i can't really see him doing a solo anywere leave them to the Portnoy's and the Hawkins' altho, i wouldn't mind him beating the fuck out his kit

But surely it isn't comfortable to play there, i can understand the second snare for a different sound but i personally find it perculiar to have another deep bassy sounded drum there

well what songs did they not play at dundee? he didn't have it then

AH HA!!! i have spotted somethin quite intresting in the videos in the milan gig someone has posted, Dom has another floor tom next to his snare drum why do they do that?

Many people use DW pedals when using Tama drums Dave Grohl Taylor Hawkins Mike Portnoy - (6 degrees of inner turbulence tour) I've never actually tried any DW pedals, they are meant to be probably the best for smoothness and gliding but as someone said earlier the reliability is shizz
