Transition from Violin to Guitar

I've played the violin for 4 years a few years back, and the piano for 2 years. Seeing as it's summer time, I want to learn the electric, but I would also like to know about experiences from people who have transitioned from violin to guitar. I heard it's easier as there are frets, but that's the only thing I heard.

i'd imagine youll probably struggle with chords at first, and adapting to it being tuned in 4ths not 5ths.

I've been playing violin, for about 2 ~ 3 years, the hardest part for me: The Chords, they are really hard, for me at least.

 

Also, the size of each fret is massive compared to the violin, distance between semitones it's supermassive.

 

But yeah, it's not that hard, 6 months and you'll be playing fine, just practice, also: the Frets really make it a lot easier, believe me.

I'm doing that (well, to viola) at the moment. Best musical choice I've made.

I'm a violinist as well...played for 7 years. I've recently moved to guitar. The chords are definitely the hardest. The reach between frets takes LOTS of getting used to. I love it though.
