  1. This is a thread for general discussion about the Lyric vids from this album, cos I think they are a prominent enough element of this album that they deserve a thread.

Anyways, to start things off I think these videos could have been a great opportunity to make a visual version of the narrative with a protagonist who appears in all the videos living the events of the songs.

Just my opinion, anyone else got anything?

  2. I think that the tremolo riff should have been longer, it's now one of my favourite riffs they've ever written, and one of the heaviest too

I think another minute would probably have been too much IMO. I agree that it could have been repeated/developed more but I think a minute would be pushing it.

I suppose a minute would be overstaying it's welcome, but I think they should have done more with the beautiful tremolo bit and resolved that section better 'cos it cuts kind of abruptly I find.

  3. I thought someone would say SS. It isn't for me. I think this is marginally heavier.

This is definitely among their heaviest stuff but I think if it developed for another minute it would have the chance to blow SS from it's slot, but as is it's at most on par for me.

  4. Here's mine.

    Dead Inside - Ite

    Psycho - Overlong wank

    Mercy - Starlight wank

    Reapers - Actually not wank

The Handler - Also not wank, fair play

    Defector - Queen-y wank

Revolt - When performed by the next big teen popstar, amazing. When played by Muse, utter wank

    Aftermath - Fairly wank

The Globalist - This is like a sandwich which has two stale, overused, and probably stolen bits of bread with an amazing filling.

    Drones - Experimental wanky alrightness

    5.528/10

    This review is too beautiful

  5. By far the worst song on the album for me. It's nearly 6 mins of utter tedium. There's no direction, nothing interesting musically, no interesting melodies, and painfully awful lyrics. It makes me want to hurt things. The only thing I like is the atmospheric intro. But that just makes what follows all the more disappointing.

I agree, the intro got me really excited for a nice mellow Blackout 2.0, but then it just went downhill and landed in NSC's leftovers

  6. I feel the same way about this song as a do Panic Station, in that they are both just such ridiculous catchy cheese you can't not just go along with it (But Panic Station is actually a good song because SLAP BASS!!)

  7. I find this album flows really well, not just the narrative but also musically each song naturally goes into the next (except revolt kinda comes out of nowhere). The stretch from Mercy to Defector is the best track order since the closing trio of BHaR. Also there's soem real nice unity to the album (beyond the word drones being there like 20 times) but it actually sounds like he's telling a story and belong to the same album, big step from T2L.

  8. Okay, so I listened to the album... been away, just got back to this muse business.

The Handler is excellent fits perfectly wiht songs like Dead Star or futurism

Defector is pretty good too, I find it's the perfect dose of queen in a muse song, also love the solo.

Revolt... Lolwut sounds like taylor swift, catchy but just shocking I have no opinions.

Aftermath sounds like a great song at the beginning with the hendrix style tones, but then the end happens and it just becomes a better version of NSC

The Globalist is also just odd. listenign to it is an adventure: i like the whistling/slide guitar part, but then it just a little cheese when the vocals come in untill the badass riff redeems it, but it's cut short and they end it like Aftermath and it's just a little disappointing considering its hype.

And Drones is weird, but I find it works very well as a closer to the album as a whole and after listening to the whole thing it just seems to fit and overall kinda neat.

So... yeah those are my opinions. Sorry if I'm late/not relevant, but yeah, wanted to post.

  9. Totally agree. Although BHAR is my favourite album because it's the one that got me into Muse.

Still think TR is a good album with some really good songs. Uprising, Resistance UD, USoE, IBTY, US, MK, Exo etc. are all good.

GL gets a lot of undeserved flak IMO. I really don't think there was a 'bad' song on that album...

I personally really don't like IBTY, but otherwise it's a good album, not my fav and not too many stand out tracks, but as an album it's pretty great.

  10. everyone's getting their hopes up way too much for this song  I hope we won't be disappointed.

Yeah, I'm getting nervous, 'cos I'm way to excited about the last three tracks of this album

  11. I like someone's idea of having Drones be the intro to the gigs, everything is all calm and atmospheric, until it's suddenly interrupted by the Drill Sergeant. Of course without hearing it, it's impossible to say whether or not that would work.

It's be great if drones was in two parts and the album opened with it then it was interrupted by dead inside

    (Also like The Wall)
