  1. Me neither. Is it a coincidence that you posted yesterday, and for the first time in a while, I had one of those dreams about #nandos?

It's killing me knowing that I won't be going back until next year.

It's taken you until to realise that I am the author and architect of your dreams, James?

I'm considering getting a big ass #dombow take out and freeze-flying it over to you.

  2.

Also the new amp hunt has been put on hold because like usual, as soon as I start saving money for the DSL fund, I end up spending it all on mountain bike parts... Although my flatmates were happy to hear the news that I didn't turn up this year with a Marshall and a 2x12

This is something I had to try and explain to my flat mates also. Rocking up for semester 2 with a 30 watt Vox 2x12 was not a popular choice for me.

But then I turned it on and they forgave me.

Pretty sure it is, but it smells horrible either way

Emphasis on dog, there. I was just thinking of a way you may have pissed off your postie. Making him lug 30kg worth of amps and guitars from his van every odd week maybe? I'm just saying don't rule out sabotage.

  3. Just because Bs refuses to come back doesn't mean I can't get other people to. :phu: After all, I convinced two or three people on here to buy a Manson at least once

I recently discovered Kurt Cobain (who apparently is still alive) plays a Manson. Another reason for you all to buy one.

    He's not lying, folks.

Does this mean that I can use my computer science degree to get the best toanz?

  4. Yeah I was about to say. A patch cable for "the working class male" on TGP would be about £50 per inch.

    Typical setup:

59 les paul reproduction (NOT to be confused with a clone, replica, or god forbid... a counterfeit) made from endangered rainforest wood. features hand wound PAF replicas based on a particularly wonderful seymour duncan '59 from 2002. Also features alpha mini pots, and vintage wax capacitors with horse hair winding from the 1920's!

this then goes into the klon with the horsey man. Because the horsey man sounds more consistent. Run on a regulated power supply, because batteries are bad for the environment.

and last but not least, a hand made in the USA dumble clone. True point to point construction on a turret board. built by the local amp tech, who also builds a line of his own amps. Think JTM 45 meets AC30. Only using the finest taiwanese components and NOS tubes from the 1950s are used.

Sorry, what were we talking about? But yeah you're right. I've come to realize that I honestly don't care about what someone is using as long as the music itself is decent. But my inner K&T will often go up to them afterwards and start a conversation about gear anyway

I think I know that amp tech actually, he replaced the spark plugs in my '74 Corvette in return for a keg of my home-brewed root beer. Great guy but a little unhinged.

Well you're right of course, we'll forever discuss and wonder over bands' gear because it's fun. It's the things that make no difference and are still inexplicably obsessed over that get on my nerves. Congrats, you've found that elusive and mysterious tone after many years of fruitless conquest, who'd have thought that draping a towel over the amp would get that "distressed" sound you wanted? Now away to Bert's Bar and plug it all in to the £100 PA system for your first gig.

  5. That's the thing James. They can't tell the difference. In fact the difference, if there is one, is as much down to the random changes in sounds from one model to another as it is their spanky new £50 gold plated diamond encrusted patch cable.

As much as I like finding new sounds and going after certain tones to satisfy a few cravings, I'm a firm believer in the "just write a fucking song" camp. If it's any good, the chumps in the crowd moshing to it aren't going to care what gauge your strings are.

Edit: Those are some cheap ass diamonds..

  6. I put my OC-3 up for sale. Somehow I don't think it's going to sell, considering all the other pedals I listed did. There's always KnT Secret Santa 2016 I guess.

Oh and that guy from highly suspect uses strats. You can't get that sound of of a strat with crappy single coils? /jabnit

I've had to accept a return for mine. Apparently there are problems with the connections in the input/output ports. It was tested before sending and seemed fine so I'm trying to claim for some compensation from the postage service.

How the fuck do you get rid of these things?

  7. I was hoping the tracking on the OC-2 would be a bit better than this on the low strings. Wouldn't be surprised if I opened it up to find a piece of coal...

Yeah I had the same trouble with CoalC-3, you could get away with some chords on the high strings but anything more than one note progressions lower down sounded like a pack of bears throwing rocks at each other.

  8. It might be worth asking musecasters or rust_relic, as they have a sign writing business, so they might know someone who can print nameplates and stuff like that.

I was thinking it may be worth contacting the forum craft kings  I had no idea they did sign writing as well so that sounds a great path to take.

Also, many balls rolling for me at the moment, may have some interesting arrivals within the next few days :ninja:

  9. Does anyone know of anywhere in the UK that can print up custom a couple nameplates for an amp and cab? I've been checking out options and they're almost all US-based, and the postage is a killer, or UK-based and specialising in large runs.

I imagine you may be hard pushed in the UK to find many established companies that will do made-to-order nameplates for amps specifically. But wouldn't you be able to get something from a general purpose engraver/cutter? I don't have a name to drop unfortunately but it may be easier to go for a more general search and ask for exact requirements when it comes to order?

  10. Everyone can access the schematics of the deep impact. But it was the programming of it's microchip that was the issue. He designed so obviously had the codes and recreated the sound using purely digital systems. He has made his receated version into a pedal called the Future Impact 1. And since he has ownership of that design and the pedal design, he is currently profitting from it's sale.

Aaaah there you go, that makes sense thanks. How cunning of the lad.

    Go capitalism!
