Aren't Japanese crowds super quiet too?
Doesn't he view that as 'respectful' though? Like when they played Hoodoo in 2007 and the crowd was dead silent and Matt said 'it's over' and then they started clapping. Or when they played Redemption and the crowd was completely silent.
Think US crowds are bored and on their phones, whereas Japanese crowds act like they're at an Orchestra.

Not strictly to do with their physical appearance but I do miss how colourful they used to be, stretching from outfits, instruments and stage designs. Seems like everything nowadays is just kinda...black and...grey. Makes the gigs feel a bit duller visually, doesn't exactly fit with the style of sets and performance they're going with lately either.
Might seem like a petty complaint but idk, Muse's music has always been full of colour to me.
I have to agree with this. I know people gave him shit about his glitter suits, but I really liked them because he was easily visible on stage and looked like an actual frontman.
Last tour I could barely even see him because he was in all black, and this tour its gonna be even harder because he blends in with Chris.
Pretty much everything is black these days, I wonder why he hasn't changed his piano back to black too.

I'd arrive in time for The Globalist and then leave.
I'd stay for the first few to see what the rotation is, leave for a toilet break, come back to see what was the piano song, leave for a shit break then come back for the Globalist.

Lol Bliss was on the set but was crossed out and replaced with PIB.
Wat.

1. Psycho
2. Dead Inside
3. Hysteria
4. Plug In Baby
5. Isolated System + The Handler
6. Resistance (lol)
7. Supermassive Black Hole
8. Prelude + Starlight
9. Feeling Good
10. Madness
11. Undisclosed Desires
12. JFK + Revolt
13. Time is Running Out
14. Uprising
15. Globalist
16. Mercy
17. MWAH + Knights
Worst Muse setlist in history.
-
But that's exactly what happened to Animals. It was a staple at pretty much every gig for the first leg, then started to randomly get dropped once they were in the US. By the end of the tour it only popped up once every few gigs. Don't want that to happen to Reapers.
-
I mentioned a couple of things that could make setlists solid back in the sexy plane, so I'll bring them up here
- Bring back hysteria/map rotation
- add a rarity slot
- add a piano transition song
- rotate UD/madness
- add an extra song to the piano section
- rotate new born/stockholm.
Achieving a setlist something like:
Drill Sergeant + Psycho
Reapers
Dead Inside
Map/Hysteria
Rarity - (Any of the songs played on the festival run/psycho tour.)
The Handler
Supermassive Black Hole
Starlight
B&H/CE
Apocalypse Please/Sunburn/ Space Dementia
Feeling GoodEurasia
UD/Madness
Revolt
Time is Running Out
Uprising
Stockholm/New Born
The Globalist
Mercy
Knights
There you go, 19 songs all the hits and a fair few rarities to keep the hardcores happy. It's so easy to implement, and leaves a lot of room for rotations.

It baffles me to think this is the same band that played The Groove, Assassin, Apocalypse please, New Born, Bliss, Hyper Music, Animals and Stockholm Syndrome all within two gigs within the US.
The band have just fallen under the impression that just because they're in the US, they have to play lighter stuff or people will be "bored". Can you imagine how many people would be disappointed if they went to their first Muse show and didn't see Starlight or Madness? The problem with Muse is they have so many poppy songs, and they're only getting recognized for them.
Muse need to suck it up, stop being so obsessed with crowd reactions and just play some heavier stuff.
-
I swear to god if they do to Reapers what they did to Animals and MK Ultra I will throttle somebody.
-
I forgot there was a concert.
You didn't miss much.
-
Wow didn't think the sets could get much worse. Muse just went and proved me wrong.
-
Guess whoever mentioned it was right about the Eurasia/Resistance exception
-
He's been playing guitar for all of DI since Dallas.
-
It seems to go in the order of:
PiB/Apocalypse Please (normally with Hysteria too)
Bliss/Eurasia (normally has resistance too)
CE/Feeling Good.
So I reckon next gig will get PiB/AP
-
I just don't understand how we went from the Psycho tour and that festival run, which were some of their strongest sets since BH&R, to... this. A worldwide Psycho tour could've been absolutely insane.
-
I'd only prefer seeing New Born over Bliss if it was played at full tempo and w/ Matt playing the proper intro. Anything like the last tour and i'd be miffed.
Especially if I got PiB/ T2L New born over Assassin/Bliss.
-
T2L tour started off fairly rocky too, I think as we get towards the back end of the Drones tour we'll see better rotation.
-
iirc it popped up once in Turin and then disappeared until the Australian leg.
-
TR had some great sets RBS and Megalomania even popped up a couple of times towards the end Granted TR tour had some of the most static and repeated sets at a time, but there were some great rotations in there. Plus you got a guaranteed Eurasia and Stockholm thrown in too.
And Matt actually played all his guitar parts and didn't prance around the stage like Bono (apart from New Born).
-
Is Matt actually playing his piano parts in CE and The Globalist? Can't imagine him running all the way to the wings to play the piano parts.
-
Map is absolutely monstrous live. Was a real highlight when I saw them live last tour.
-
I think the main problem is Chris just doesn't harmonise well with Matt, and this is particular jarring in songs such as New Born and Madness. Chris is only good when he can do stand alone vocals or belt (Dead Star, Hyper Music).
-
Wouldn't care if Bliss replaced PIB.
-
Maybe Matt feels uncomfortable without the guitar. Hasn't he already picked it back up for Dead Inside?
