I know the flow is on and off here and there but these are the songs. I am not even asking for something impossible.

  2. Damn it. What a setlist. I went to Werchter and I swear I think I would maybe give it away for this one. Oh and btw why even bother about the band being less popular in the US? Most of the time, the US crowds are pretty dead/snobbish at rock concerts anyway.

  3. That sounds crap. TaB starts out way too slowly for that. It would do just fine after the whole thing.

But imagine the final guitar note being held for a long time, and then Take a Bow starts? Much like when the post-SS riffs end and then TaB begins, in HAARP. I could imagine this. :)

  4. Too tough but let's give it a shot...

    SHOWBIZ

(Mainly bcuz of assassin, my least fav track on the album)

    TR

    - USoE

    - Guiding light

    - US

    T2L

    - Defector (dammit)

    - revolt

    - aftermath

  5. Now I finally feel like I can judge the album properly and compare it to the others. I'd say that Muse had something really good going here. Psycho, Dead Inside, The Handler, Reapers, Defector, The Globalist and even Drones were brilliant parts of the album. But sadly the rest is just poor. Mercy follows the same recipe as Starlight, Easily, TIRO and Follow Me to some extent but sadly it just doesn't grab me. The piano melody is dull and the chorus just has so little going on.

Aftermath and Revolt should have been b-sides at best. Muse and cheese is such a gamble. Blackout, Endlessly and SFA manage to maintain a serious tone without sounding cheesy. Invincible and Soldier's Poem are right on the edge, but still sound like proper, honest songs. Then on TR they go into parody territory with IBTY, USoE and Guiding Light. The first two are fun, while GL is just dull.

Then we got Explorers, which tries to make the cheese serious again, but at this point Matt seems to have forgotten how to write honest ballads that aren't cliche, cheese and parody of love songs.

And since then, they haven't really been able to recover. I really wish that Matt can start writing ballads/power-ballads that feel sincere again, but honestly I'm starting to doubt if they'll ever get rid of that almost musical-esque melodrama.

Briiliant. And kinda depressing, cuz you are spot on...

  6. Someone should start #ShrinkingUniverseFor(insert gig here). Not that the band probably even remember that song exists :( Also I wonder if Matt would even be able to sing the big falsetto properly nowadays... isn't it the same note as Showbiz?

If I remember correctly, Simon once said (no pun intended) that it is the same note as the high one in TiRO.

I love Shrinking Universe, shame it is not a more known/distributed song.

  7. This must have been posted a million times, and we have had great performances on this tour, but I feel the need to share my love one more time for the 2013 performance of Micro Cuts in Montreal.

I'd totally say it is the best rendition ever of Micro Cuts. Matt's vocals are incredibly strong, his falsetto is as pure as crystal and he nails that chorus like never before. :awesome: + the surprise effect + the Freedom outro. :awesome:

God, Matt is an incredible vocalist...

  8. Yeah the hate part was a joke :) I completely agree that I was hoping the arena tour would be an extension of that setlist... Even though I like most of today's staples it is such a snooze fest, especially from the middle... :(

The thing I don't get though - Drones is a dark and mostly heavy album, why make the tour so light and...poppy?!

  9. a 17 song set can be really good, when they're not playing literally every hit they've ever had, obviously 21 would be better, but you could make a really strong set with that amount of material to work with (if you restructured it quite a bit)

I'm getting to the point where I don't even want them to continue making new music, because if they do another Resistance album, we're fucked. They won't have room to play anything but the hits.

The Rock Werchter gig was 18 songs and I was out of my mind by how great the setlist was. Varied as well. Yes, y'all can hate me now.

  10. Or they could just, you know, man up and do a proper 25-song set. They are 7 albums in now, and fuck, even Cure pull a 40-song set. Bands like Muse and Coldplay are rather spoiled when it comes to concerts. Short sets, expensive tickets, mostly playing hits... Especially Coldplay. Muse are even OK compared to those lazy bums.

  11. Guys, quick question. Which seats are better, 304, 321 or 331? I know they are basically all the same-ish, but which is the safest bet for seeing the band upfront and not seeing their backs? Plz reply asap my sister is about to order tickets for the Chicago concert...

  12. I

Hence why this makes no sense whatsoever. At the Belfast gig they played Fury, Uno, Hyper Music, Agitated, Animals. These songs seem to be the ones they actually enjoy playing and clearly think their fans want to see them. So when it comes to actually touring and playing to large rooms of people they decide to play 6 tracks on playback, including the same one twice and do a by-the-numbers pop gig, which is fine if you are expecting a pop band.

That's what is so depressing right now, you are right about that. The whole album and the sound, approach is rockier, so why make the tour so poppy?!

  13. So much of it just makes NO sense though.

Drones twice, Isolated System after like four songs, bringing back Prelude as an intro to Starlight, JFK into Revolt, no guitar in Dead Inside or Uprising (wtf!?!), a set with Madness, Dead Inside AND Undisclosed Desires, the same old tired riffs (Back In Black, etc), STILL closing with MWAH and Knights.

Ergh, fuck this. They've managed to make the sets from the last few months even worse. And with those possible (read: likely) rotations, we really could see some of the worst Muse sets of all time in the coming months.

The set that I got at Werchter this summer was pretty fucking amazing, though.
