This. Even though my favourite Muse song changes quite often, Space Dementia is always in my top 3, whereas the others come and go. It truly is a masterpiece in my opinion.

 

Honestly, it took me a while to get into it, cause it is a pretty heavy song. But after getting into it, I could never let go. I agree, it is a masterpiece.

Spent the evening listening to Dark Shines. The part from the guitar solo to the end of the song is magnificent. Kinda took me time to appreciate this song completely.

well, I've read through the little debate above, and I have to say that even though I've got nothing to add to it, you guys just made me listen to both songs again, and re-discover their awesomeness. so yeah, thanks

Let me try to reformulate what I said then.

 

Assassin, as a song in whole, doesn't sound like anything new to me compared to the previous "fast-paced,energetic,heavy riff" songs like Stockholm Syndrome. It just sounds unfinished to me,and I don't find it nearly as exciting, save from the incredible drumming at the start and the end of the song. Melodically it sounds flat to my ears, and it gets me nowhere.

 

In other words - I don't like it that much, and if it was up to me, I wouldn't have put it on the album. I believe there are many better songs that should have made the cut, like I said, The Groove and Easily. That's all.

 

 

P.S. I don't see how my opinion, no matter how ridiculous it may be to you is offensive to anybody, like racism and homophobia are.

Well actually, I'm not really interested in an answer, because I already know that there is nothing similar enough to be called a copy in the songs. I just wanted you to show everyone how wrong you are.

Also, I don't think there's anywhere for The Groove to fit on Absolution which would keep the flow. Plus, the album's about 53 minutes as it is - an extra couple of minutes could make the album feel a bit too long. It works great as a b-side.

 

Come to think about it, you are right. The Groove would really be hard to fit in Absolution... Maybe they should have put it on BH&R ... Instead of, say... Assassin. Cause it is a blatant copy of Stockholm Syndrome for me.

 

And add Easily instead of Invincible or Exo-Politics (but keep these as b-sides)
