In context to the rest of the album it sounds like our protagonist, lets call him Steve, has either:
- been converted and is now converting others into drones and this is his perspective
- or is in the process of being converted and this song is in the view of the person converting our poor buddy Steve
Great! You now have me imagining Steve from Blue's Clues joining the Marines and having the drill sergeant shouting things at him like "I bet you're the kind of guy who would fuck a person in the ass and not even have the goddamn common courtesy to give him a reach-around.".
Poor Steve indeed.

Psycho psycho!
I actually heard it as "psych-psycho". Made it sound like there was a needle skip and a jump on a record.

...
I know … "Po-tato" vs "Pot-ato".
I'm not expecting anything and keeping things in check. Just spouting a thought since this seems to be the "Club Tour" people were going on about for the past year and a half or so.
-
It specifically said it would be the new songs.
It said the DVD would include "performances of new songs" not that it will be "only new songs".
Everyone else is dreaming about the new album and this short tour. I can at least dream that we'll get a quality bonus DVD.
-
It looks like some of the tour will be filmed for the bouns DVD for the album, so at least those of us who are in the wrong country () will get to see something from it.
Hoping that if there are rarities played they be included and that the DVD won't just be the Drones songs from different performances in different venues. Still, glad to be able to see anything at all.

Oops, thanks! Trying to multitask at work so I'm falling behind here.
No worries. The board is active again, so I'm sure the mod team are a bunch of busy beavers right now. (You probably thought I was gonna say "bees", didn't you?)
I know we're not supposed to acknowledge the radio edit's existence, but the cut job is just so bad it's good.

I need to hear this.
Here you go Miss JSS:

(link was posted a posts few back)
I wonder if I tweet Live 105.3 if I can get them to play this on the morning show tomorrow. Would make my drive to work so much more enjoyable.

That radio edit is loltastic.

Yeah … a sample or two from "Full Metal Jacket" would've been ace.
-
I'm now imagining an arena/stadium filled with people singing back "your ass belongs to me now".
This song is going to be fun live.
-
The only slightly annoying thing about the drill sergeant bit is that it was clearly recorded to fit the song/album theme since he mentions drones.
Kind of wish they had paid to use a sample or two of R. Lee Ermey's dialogue from "Full Metal Jacket" as the intro. Quite possibly one of the best drill sergeants in all film since Kubrick let him ad-lib most of his lines and he was spot on.

The 'F' bombs were definitely a surprise that's fore sure.
At least this song will aid Matt when his tour tourettes sets in and he likely won't need to sing "they will not con-fucking-trol us" in Uprising or "I won't fucking push it underground" in Time Is Running Out.
Although I wouldn't mind one bit if he kept doing that.

We've gone from 1 instance of "fuck" in Panic Station to 11 uses of a variant in Psycho.
I'm smiling like an idiot right now. Muse are back.

The prospect of having songs that sound even remotely like OoS is too much to handle! I've jokingly said I want OoS 2 for the past 10 years, and I know that's not what this or any future album will sound like cos they don't want to repeat themselves, but the fact that Matt has devoted time to attempting to recreate that sound in some way is, in itself, a miracle!
The thing is, the guys have the ability and the talent to re-create/tweak/capture the Origin sound on any song or album they want. They already proved that when they played the album in full in 2011. It sounded excellent. The instrument tones were there. Matt's vocals were there (even with some minor flubs).
I do hope that the Citizen Erased sequel is more of a spiritual successor than a true "sequel".
-
If the song being teased is indeed the first single, I'll be glad to hear it on the radio.
Would be a nice break from Madness or Starlight.
-
I know it's only a couple seconds of one pass of the riff, but the bit right before the DRONES reminded me a bit of "Dragon Attack" by Queen.
Excited to hear the track. A guitar driven Muse song is a thing of beauty when they do it right.

The "blokes around the table" are supposed to be The Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse.
I'm not that bothered about the album art. There's no way that LP 7's album art could be as bad as the artwork for Iron Maiden's Dance Of Death. That's got to be some of the fugliest album art of all time.

Falling Away With You
It's such an underrated song and one that would be awesome live.

Poor Muriel.
Hope she and Dolores get to have a nice cuppa in server heaven.

I'd actually be curious to see them do this one. I imagine Matt would re-create Wright's synth with the Kaoss pad (or just let Morgan do it).
-
Yeah, especially BH&R
Second that. It's also the only album on vinyl to be on one disc.
All the other albums are double LPs and (to my ears at least) sound fucking good.

Screenager and Darkshines.
These songs don't need defending per se. They just need to be remembered. They kind of get lost when talking about Origin of Symmetry as a whole.
-
Ohai there.
