I like it. It's commercial sure but it's got a catchy beat and IMO could appeal to the more "pop" listeners.
-
Anyone know where I can find the full picture used as Muse's header in Apple Music? It looks cool and I wanna make it my wallpaper lol
-
Wasn't there talk once that they were collaborating with Lana Del Rey? I wouldn't mind seeing that.
-
And may I stress the ONE.
Showbiz: Showbiz
Origin of Symmetry: Citizen Erased
Absolution: Falling Away with You (Because SS and Hyseria is so cliche lol)
Black Holes & Revelations: Take a Bow
The Resistance: Exogenesis: Symphony, Pt. 3: Redemption (Counted as separate tracks)
The 2nd Law: Madness (Once again going for the non-conventional pick)
Drones: Reapers
-
Showbiz - Overdue (worst Muse song ever, atrocious)
Origin of Symmetry - Feeling Good (duh.)
Absolution - Blackout (this is so difficult, love them all)
BH&R - Assassin (I just never got very much into it, it is a beast for playing though)
Resistance - Guiding Light (duh once again)
Drones - Revolt (duhduhduh)
You forgot The 2nd Law.
-
For me it's definitely Falling Away with You.

Wikipedia says this: "As a genre, pop music is extremely eclectic, often borrowing elements from other styles including urban, dance, rock, Latin and country; nonetheless, there are core elements which define pop. Such elements include generally short to medium-length songs, written in a basic format (often the verse-chorus structure), as well as the common employment of repeated choruses, melodic tunes, and hooks."
-
While it stands for "popular" it's still a music genre rather than just music that's popular at the time.
And DI feels way more pop than rock to me.
Of course, they've been putting out "poppy" rock songs since... ever, really.
And how do you define that music genre? (Personally, I would say pop songs encompass some of the "softer" and not-quite-blaring-loud songs by Muse, i.e. the songs I've listed in a previous post.)
-
No, I don't have a problem with people disliking upbeat songs, it's just that when Revolt first came out, a lot of people seemed to just go "too upbeat, worst song on the album." Which didn't seem like fair judgement to me, then again, I love the song, so what do I know, right?
Lol exactly. They'd compare Revolt to Big Freeze and say those two are the "poppiest" and most upbeat of their respective albums, thereby labelling them the worst of the bunch.
-
How exactly do you define a pop song? Because apparently a large number of you agree on what can be labelled a pop song by Muse, while I on the other hand, label Starlight, FAWY, Mercy, Endlessly, Undisclosed Desires and Big Freeze as some of Muse's pop songs. And I never considered Dead Inside a pop song.
EDIT: Pop stands for popular right? If so, then by technical definition, I'd label the likes of Supermassive Black Hole, Time is Running Out, Plug In Baby, Neutron Star Collision, Uprising, Survival, Madness, Starlight and maybe Dead Inside as pop songs, because they are the more of the commercial hits by Muse.
-
But people have made loads of LONG posts about why they don't like the song. Generally when someone asks a question like that, they haven't really cared to actually find out. We even have threads where the tracks are reviewed individually.
And my post wasn't aimed at you so I'm not sure why you're defending yourself.
Lol guess I can see your point, it was just a general wonderment but I wouldn't be swayed even if someone wrote a long post as to why they disliked the song.
Carry on.
-
Why would anybody even want a best of cd? Why would you want to buy another cd with music on it that you already have on a different cd? If you want the best of muse, why not just make your own? Don't really understand the logic in this thread
Can't say for other Muse fans, but I would buy it if that was the artwork. As for why anyone would want to buy a Greatest Hits album, I figure maybe for the people who are just about to get initiated into the Muse fanzone, or for those who are not exactly a diehard fan and don't have the time to buy or listen to all the songs in the 7 albums.
One thing that I would change about Muse, if I had superpowers, is I would not have previously released all the songs that they've done. I'd save some for exclusive bonus tracks in their greatest hits album in case they ever wanted to publish one in the future. For instance, I wouldn't have previously released Fury, Hyper Chondriac Music, and maybe a demo like Instant Messenger, and save them as bonus tracks for a greatest hits album. That could attract diehard fans to buy their GH album.

I literally just rephrased what CitizenAroused said.
There's no need for anyone to get snappy, I just wondered why a lot of people name Revolt as their least favourite song from Drones, when I personally thought the chorus was pretty ace (or at least, better than the likes of Mercy or Drones, and maybe even Psycho).
Because God forbid a legitimate opinion question is asked around here.
-
Because God forbid someone dislikes a Muse song! Everyone must like everything by Muse.
Lol there's no need to get snappy. 😪
-
I don't quite like
Uprising > Resistance
It's a very weird transition from the rocky and high-energy Uprising into the softer but grimmer starting of Resistance.
-
WHY is Revolt getting so much hate?!
-
Showbiz: Sober
Origin of Symmetry: Feeling Good
Absolution: The Small Print
Black Holes and Revelations: Soldier's Poem

Are your FAVOURITE songs what you consider to be their BEST songs?

Posted
Let's take my personal favourites into account – the songs that I rate 10/10 (i.e. my favourite songs) are Citizen Erased, Stockholm Syndrome, Take a Bow, Dead Inside, Hysteria, Exogenesis 3, Megalomania, FAWY, The Handler, Supremacy, Showbiz, Starlight and Muscle Museum.
I guess most fans may consider the likes of Citizen Erased, Stockholm Syndrome, Hysteria and perhaps The Handler to be some of Muse's best songs, but I can already say, by observation, that Falling Away with You and Starlight are poorly received by fans on this board. And granted, perhaps these two songs do not display Muse at their finest. That being said, I still love these songs because of personal preference; I thought FAWY is Muse's best "softer" songs and I love that middle part of Starlight so much that I could repeat those 10 seconds over and over again.
Nonetheless, I do not believe that any of Muse's other songs could be legitimately called their "best" (not even Knights of Cydonia, Map of the Problematique, and MK Ultra – which I personally do not enjoy and believe are overrated), so to speak. So, to a certain degree, I do consider my 13 favourite songs to be their best.
