  2. Survival's lyrics are by far the worst. It's also one of the reasons why they were/are easy to mock now iirc

I think Matt's incompetence as a lyricists suits Survival's context of an actual race; I doubt athletes would conjure deep and clever metaphors with diverse vocabulary at the start/during a race.

  3. This really is the prime time for ticket sales, though. Once the album isn't as fresh in everyone's mind, they're more likely to miss tour announcements and sales, especially considering the T2L tour was promoted very piss poorly in a lot of areas (there was an announcement tacked on to the end of the SNL performance, and that was literally all I saw.)

Meh, who cares? It will be harder for us to get tickets

  4. Thought it would be interesting to venture to the Download forum to see what the reviews were like there for Muse...

    [spoiler=Reviews]

Well I never thought I'd say this but.... 10/10- Not a fan of them on record, nor will I ever be. HOWEVER that goddamn show!!! MAN!!! That was something special! They stepped up to their reputation live... Big time. Just phenomenal! Admittedly I only know a few of their songs (the obvious ones) but still enjoyed every single one they played.

11/10 Awesome, awesome, awesome awesome!!!! Blew me and the whole of Download away

10/10 - Never been a huge fan, but by the end i was singing along and jumping in my wellies (bit daft as they're not that comfy)

8.5/10 - Really pulled it out of the bag and proved to the doubters that they deserve their place at Donington as much as any other band. Micro Cuts and Dead Star though.

6/10 - first couple of songs I saw were great but the next 3 sounded the same and his voice wined to much so left for start of...

    (10) – They were always going to be good, but I don’t think many expected them to be quite that good. Matt Bellamy knew exactly what he was doing, they played big and heavy from start to finish and everyone was completely up for it whether they were a fan or not. I’m pretty indifferent to the new album but even those songs sounded pretty good live, but playing New Born, Dead Star, Agitated, Citizen Erased, as well as all their early massive anthems was always going to be onto a winner. Their set is all I ever heard people talking about on the Sunday, pretty sure it’ll become one of those sets that goes down in Download history. (Second favourite band of the weekend, only just lost out).

HOLY FUCK/10 - Best Headline set I have ever seen at a festival. Absolutely killed it and the entire crowd was with them

9/10 - Good to see them live finally. Initially left slightly disappointed (maybe due to tiredness) however was a good end to the day.

[10] - The only reason I'm giving this a 10 is because I can't give it 11. This was my tenth download and I'm pretty sure this was the best set I've seen in my entire 27 years of living. Blown away doesn't cover it.

Best set of the weekend and the best headline festival set I've ever seen. Crowd was right with them from first riff to the last. CITIZEN ERASED!!! - 10/10

Honestly, I can't over exaggerate how good Muse were. You know when you just stand there and think "I'm seeing something special happen here"? That was Muse headlining.

    10/10. Incredible

10/10, best festival headline set I have ever seen, incredible as always

9.5/10. Absolutely smashed it & silenced even the staunchest critics. A truly special headline show that only doesn’t get full marks because they didn’t play ‘Starlight’.

10/10 - Oh my good giddy God. I've been waiting so long to see Muse at Download and they fucking owned it. Potentially one of the greatest performances I've seen at Downlaod, ever.

10/10 I was a bit on the fence over Muse but having seen that set, what a belting booking, I have to tip my hat to Mr Coping for saying "listen fcuko's I know what I am doing and I am booking these chaps" and they shall be good, they were so far more than good.

10/10, Band of the weekend for me. I'm not a big Muse fan at all but this set was absolutely flawless and the stage show was excellent.

8/10. Only saw one song but it was flawless. Not a muse fan in the slightest bit I'll give credit where credit is due, I'll definitely give them more attention if they turn up here again.

6/10 - I really looked forward to Muse but I was disappointed. If you like Muse then I'm sure they were fantastic because they are very tight live but it definitely made me realise I'm not much of a Muse fan. Most of their songs sound the same and I just got a bit bored really.

7/10 - Before going to download, I liked a few of their songs but not many. Went to see them and it was a fun set. Kinda boring at the start but got into it.

    10/10

6.5/10 Was alright, don't like Bellamy but did like the music.

10- WOAH. Back the **** up. What was that?! Time is Running Out is the best live performance of any song I've ever seen.

    10/10 - BOOM!

    10/10 ...

    10/10 - best set I've seen at a festival

10/10 - Still shocked at the sound they make for a "three-piece", and just how talented Matt Bellamy is on the guitar. Never been a huge fan of their albums, nor am i now, but i'd certainly attend one of their own shows now on the back of that. Stunning.

9/10 - Absolutely owned it. What a show they put on, blew Slipknot out the water.

8 (certainly worthy of playing Download)

Had the tunes but I'm disappointed with the stage show. They've already set the bar pretty high.

9.5/10 Saved the day, some great tracks and it all sounded so much better live ( a lot more powerful). Terrific.

    (10) - Never been a fun but holy ****. Easily one of the best bands i've seen.

10/10 Greatest set I've ever seen, simple as

10/10 They won the weekend hands down.. They completely justified their presence at Download in my eyes and tens of thousands of others. My feelings in the run-up were that it was actually really important that they were a success and they just blew everyone away instead.
