So tomorrow I've got a job interview with Statistics NZ to be a geographic statistician. Really nervous but I want it so bad!

Small town near Whangarei... I'm gonna guess Kamo?
-
Happy birthday chum!
-
That's ood you can get something then.
Did someone say Ood?
There's my contribution to the thread for the day!
-
Red pandas?
-
Sounds awkward in the first case and potentially awkward in the second.
And how are you, Oren?
I'm alright thanks, another fairly wasteful day at home. My dad is in town for the weekend to celebrate his birthday, and he is a having a party type thing at a bar in town tonight, so that should be fun.

Cute baby, nice one!

Hahahahahaha!
I've found a hairdresser who I'm actually reasonably comfortable chatting away with, which is a first.

People, and their families, who commit suicide or acts of self-harm, will no longer be eligible for compensation.
Dr Smith said if someone with a family committed suicide the family could have been given almost $1 million in compensation over time.
He would not say whether that was an incentive for people contemplating suicide.
"If my doctor told me that I was terminally ill and I had 30 days to live, with the ACC rules the way they are, I'd be finding myself a train to throw myself under on the 29th day because my family would be treated so much more generously," Dr Smith told reporters.
Suicide was tragic but not an accident, he said.
This bit especially. Oh my god, I can't even believe he would say something that insensitive, let alone put it into fucking legislation.

Can't remember what I saw it on but someone was saying it's not like you won't be able to tell what's happening just cause the commentary is in another language. You can still see what's going on. So True.
These ACC changes today, I have no words for how dumb it is

More:
"Ooh, it's playing up."
"I just wiggled it and it worked."
Fascinating stuff.
Do you subtitle that stuff?
-
Maybe! The people operating the machinery look like a Soviet volleyball team...
I'm not sure why I chose volleyball there.
Soviet is also an interesting choice.

I'm still waiting on a cd I ordered from Mighty Ape, its been almost a month. It said it was in stock when I ordered, only for them to say after I had ordered that it wasn't. Now they say they are expecting it to arrive on the 15th. Not happy, this is the sceond time this has happened with them

When people sign up to be tutors they know they're expected to make themselves available to help students out with stuff. He might take it as a compliment that you value his opinion and advice.
Not always, some are just arsehole postgrads who want money and the opportunity to make themselves feel better about their shitty lives by picking holes in undergrad essays
What's a dotterel?She probably means this I think.

Surely they could have hidden her better than that?

No... I found that it wasn't really my cup of tea. I'm now focusing on political science, biology and economics... So it'll take me awhile.. What are you doing again?
Just to dig this up... I was doing geography and history, graduated last year
I watched I'm Not There this evening, it was the most enjoyable film I've seen in a long time.
-
You still studying geography?

I might see if Jo wants to go out for dinner, as some sort of celebration/commiseration for her last day at work.

Wish I'd stayed home in my PJs now actually! It's cold and raining, so it wasn't the most pleasant walk. Actually the way there was fine, but on the way back it had gotten a bit windy so my umbrella was a bit unwieldy and I had to juggle my shopping too. On the plus side I am now enjoying the pixie caramel that I bought.
-
That is true.
Are you home early again, sir?
I've been home all of yesterday and today due to work being slow. Clearly I'm making the most of it, yesterday I only left the house to go to the mailbox, and today I haven't even had a shower or got dressed yet I am going to do that now though, so I can walk down to the supermarket and buy cereal.

I think if you fancy someone it's perfectly acceptable to simply say "would you like to go for a drink sometime?" It doesn't have to be a big deal and there's nothing there that overtly says 'I want to get freaky with you'.
Really, the worst that can happen is a crushing rejection

Maybe it's green?
Reminds me of some awesome lyrics: "She got an ass like loaf of bread, make you want a slice"

Quick date!

Someone on Facebook, who I only vaguely know from high school, has done 6 of the last 7 updates. A wee bit over the top.
I would probably take that as grounds for a defriending

Baited eh, does that smell?
Um interview went alright. They said on the phone that it would probably take an hour - 30 mins for the interview with a three person panel and 30 mins for a writing and mapping test. Well the panel interview ended up going for 1 and a half hours, so it was pretty gruelling. I was pretty drained afterwards and was all sweaty from spending 90 mins in that quite tense situation, and then had to do my tests. But it all seemed to go reasonably well. Afterwards one of them showed me some of the office and had a quick look at the software they use, which was pretty nice.
