  1. I do prefer gigs to festivals, but I really hope they play in venues that aren't insanely small for the anniversary shows cos I'm terrified about missing out on getting tickets! Plus, sometimes the festival atmosphere can be quite nice, so it would be a bit of a shame cos they've played UK festivals pretty much every year (I think?).

I LOVE that they want to return to a rock sound - sounds fecking awesome :D But Chris is being smart about how he's wording it cos it most probably will all change by the time they start recording. Matt will prob declare he loves electronica and make that their focus, lol.

  2. Just realised I haven't actually spaffed about the screening here yet! Fucking amazing show, and made me feel like I was back reliving the stadium experiences of this summer :D I was the only one actually rocking out in my seat, lol - everyone else was quite boring tbh.

I loled when Matt said 'alright?' at the camera during Hysteria and the hysterically emotional guy crying after Guiding Light  Lots of brilliant moments, but it was seriously let down by the lack of Unsustainable. I know it's getting boring to hammer on about that, but I could feel that something was missing and it ruined it a bit, to be honest. What made it much worse was that they played the song minus visuals in the end credits - what little shits!:LOL: Add salt to the wound, Muse!

I would have been looking forward to the DVD so much more if I knew all the songs were on there, so it's a real shame that they cut so many. It could have been insanely epic as opposed to just epic, lol. Nonetheless, the visuals were awesome and I got a serious case of the post-Muse-gig-blues even though I didn't even go to the Rome gig. Dying for new tour dates to be released. I'll go to every flipping anniversary show there is as soon as they announce them!

  3. The preview looks amazing :D A great teaser – it's got me excited about how stunning it'll look, especially in cinema :awesome:. Would have been more awesome if it had more close ups of band/crowd, though, especially for an emotive song like Follow Me with singalong elements. I can live with that… the one thing I can't forgive is the irony of the year: no Unsustainable on The Unsustainable Tour DVD

  4. I saw that in a Muselive post - Matt's bullshit explanation in a French interview .

I left my ramblings about how pathetic it is on ML, but I'm disappointed in them tbh. He has some crazy idea, then gets bored/embarrassed by it and wants to forget it ever happened.

It's a selfish decision - they haven't given the fans a single thought in terms of what we might want, considering we'll be the ones buying this DVD. It's perfectly fine to disappoint people as long as their pride is intact! I know Muse don't have a track record of pleasing fans when it comes to setlists, but to cut stuff out of a DVD cos you're ashamed by your own work is a bit sad. /melodrama

  5. The issue wasn't putting songs on it for the casuals, though.

They already intentionally altered the setlist in Rome for the more casual fans, for the DVD release.

I perfectly understand shortening it for cinema, and while I was disappointed with their choices to cut, the only one that was mindblowing (and angering) was Unsustainable.

Unless, like some have assumed, they really were unhappy with how the robot looked, there's just absolutely no reason to leave it out, and either way it's inexcusable, really.

The DVD release is another issue entirely.

Why NOT leave the gig intact for it?

It's not a matter of cutting songs more people would know, they would still be there.

And having some of the cut songs on there from arena gigs seems to add insult to injury, while STILL leaving out the few nods to longer term fans.

Exactly this!! Any way you look at it, it doesn't make sense, especially the DVD part. I'd just want the decision makers behind this to explain it cos there's no logic behind it, especially Unsustainable. I could bang on about that til I'm blue in the face, cos I'm genuinely gobsmacked its exclusion.

  6. They may not have cut them cos of anything wrong other than their lack of commercial appeal, apparently, but would their inclusion really have alienated casual fans from buying it? The staple live songs are all still there. Anyone who doesn't know those other songs can just skip them – that's the beauty of a DVD  If anything, they might have got more sales by including all the songs: old and new fans would be more likely to buy it.

  7. That's disappointing about the 2nd night crowd. Its also confusing - I remember the first night at the Emirates being fairly good for Bliss and Dead Star, if not quite as much as with previous appearances.

No Unsustainable but yes Explorers is just weird. I get why they may dropped SS from the Rome feature because they want a pro-shot of the pyramid closing on the arena tour but why not use New Born for that and keep Stockholm in the main feature?

Maybe that fan edit of Unsustainable from Paris will be included as an easter egg or something. Would be a strange one to do but this is Muse we're talking about :chuckle:

Yeah, they could have easily made this miles better but they chose a beyond mediocre set. All their most visually memorable moments have been excluded: not just Unsustainable but the giant light bulb in Blackout, too. Basically, all the standout visuals of the show have ironically been cut from the DVD. It doesn't make any sense at all – the more I think about it, the more disappointing it is, which is a shame cos it could have been as epic as the full live shows.

  8. No it's not. The order of the extras is Stockholm-Unsustainable, both from Las Vagas. The idea is create the illusion of the band being swallowed by the pyramid during Stockholm, then released in Unsustainable.

Not enough for cut those songs of Rome if you ask me.

I know all that, I'm saying maybe the Charles version is a hidden bonus or something. I just can't understand why they'd create something that stands out visually only to reject it from the DVD. The fan-made version from Paris that Tom K put together was great, but no pro-shot is wrong. It'll probably be the Christmas gift, lol.

  9. Surely if they chose 'only hits', MOTP and SS would have made it given that they usually get crowds bouncing and dancing. Plus its not as if they're that obscure - MOTP was played at the Olympics so some casuals may at least recognise it.

The real odd one out is Explorers. They could've just gone straight from Dracula Mountain to Hysteria, cutting out Explorers and Interlude. IS could've been reduced to a short version like on World War Z, but whatever.

But yes, it is rather strange that Charles has been cut altogether. I'd have thought that'd be the main thing - hell, maybe even something for the fecking cover art.

EDIT: I must be so slow to have only just noticed Las Vegas is spelt as "Las Vagas" in the .mu shop. :chuckle::facepalm:

That's what I'm saying: it looks deceptively like a string of hits but they haven't even done that right cos they excluded the likes of Stockholm, a crowd pleaser, but left in Isolated System.

MotP was more of a fave a few years ago. When they played it and B&H on the second night in London, the crowd was dead. Like, no movement. It reminded me of the sea of confused-looking people at Reading & Leeds during the non-singles section of OoS. I was in the so-called 'lively' standing section at this year's London gigs, but most people didn't have any idea what those songs were :stunned:

Explorers is just random considering they weren't playing it for most of the stadium tour. It made a few appearances. Unsustainable, however, is a staple and gets cut out! Exactly, I would have thought it'd be a cover shot or the highlight they'd shout about after having gone to the trouble of making a freaking robot. Maybe it's a hidden extra… but I doubt it.

  10. There's no reason. It looks as if they've gone for the commercially safe option of choosing only 'hit' songs that would appeal to casual fans, but then Stockholm would surely be in that category. And by that measure, Isolated System sticks out as the odd one out.

Why spend all that effort to make a Charles, which would just look visually way more interesting than IS on a DVD, to not have him feature on the release? Makes no effing sense.

  11. Although I'm disappointed with the crap set, I've still pre-ordered both hard copies to satisfy the collector in me. It'll still be an awesome show, but I don't see why it couldn't have included all tracks to make it even better. And nothing excuses the lack of Stockholm from the main bit of yet ANOTHER DVD release! It's an 'extra', which is just wrong. I still wanna see it in HD quality, but it coulda been way better, set wise.

Now they better make up for it real soon with the Zepp footage in its entirety!

  12. I ended up getting a ticket to the Vue Islington showing after all. Just gonna have to ditch the Bluewater one. Islington's where I saw HAARP and it's way closer to me, so it only makes sense to go there. Wish I could see the preview one in Leicester Square but bloody work gets in the way again… unless I took a two hour lunch break, lol!

  13. What a dunce! I didn't check .mu for some reason so had no idea there was a dedicated site with all the screenings – went straight to showcase site and booked the nearest one I could find, which turned out to be Bluewater, lol. I'm seriously considering just buying a ticket for the Islington screening, which would be waaaay closer to get to. It means I lose out on like £12. Anyways, wherever I see it, it's gonna be fecking epic. Can't wait!! :D

There better be a DVD release soon like HAARP cos these stadium gigs were just spectacular! Still regret not going to the Rome gig: it would have been amazing. And I also still think it would have been epic to screen the Paris gig with the 'Paris Station' Muse balloons. That was jaw-droppingly awesome: even Matt was stunned, hehe. Bring on 7 Nov!! :awesome:

  14. I'm always fascinated by what they think of playing older songs and what the latest reason is not to play Muscle Museum :p

Even post-Zepp, it's obvious playing super rare stuff is a one-off and not something they'd readily incorporate into sets, especially big shows. But to be honest I'd prefer to see rare songs at more intimate venues anyway. While Dead Star isn't rare (any more), it was a million times better seeing it in Shep Bush than a stadium show, so I hope they do something like that for the anniversary shows: intimate venue, rare oldies = insanely happy me! :D

  15. OMG the Unsustainable fan vid is epiiiic! :D And I got a credit among the thousands of names at the end :D :D Don't actually know where my footage was used cos it all looks identical, lol, but still chuffed to get a mention. Really good idea, hope they do more! :awesome:
