  1. Womp. Now THAT is far more like it. Really liked that - only minor quibbles is the solo has six, err, 'rounds' rather than eight so the chorus comes back in quite abruptly, the 'save me from the dark side' refrain at the end doesn't quite bookend the song which is a little anticlimactic, and the actual instrumentation doesn't build quite as massively right at the end as I hoped.

But they're minor quibbles compared with the major problems I still have with TC and DD. SH is just, well, fine'ish.

MK Ultra with a bit of extra synthing up would fit a treat on this album.

  2. I totally CBA to do this myself, but does someone fancy pulling together all the best proper jams (mainly/if no solely the Chris/Dom ones - Munich, Helsinki, etc) into a setlist, complete with full YouTube linkage to all the best versions?

Thanking you in advance Muse nerds.

  3. 'Dat intro.

The beef. Tbh, Bliss - although it isn't my favourite Muse song - is the song that perhaps brings me back to why I love Muse the most. It's just such a brilliant pop-rock crossover, but it feels extremely genuine and heartfelt. It also has a mega riff, huge synths, a hella fun bassline and just so many touches I adore. Even the video. Still gives me chills like when it did back when I was 12.

  4. The only truly great performances of Bliss are when Matt doesn’t piss around on his guitar in the first verse. There is something sacred about that silence.

Also, the main riff lacks power in the Reading ‘11 version. I prefer the stop and scratch versions with a pause before the riff drops. So much beefier. Belfort ‘06 was a good one.

  5. TR is def the proggiest Muse album, for the record. Even Yes don't have a 15 minute space rock symphony.

Yes they do, they have multiple - Close To The Edge, The Gates Of Delirium, Tales From Topographic Oceans (in full).

Also, TR Muse's proggiest album? Really? I'd say it's almost their least proggy album. Concept album =/= prog.

  6. I shall probs give all giggage a miss unless I can get tickets for one of the smaller gigs. Muse’s bigger gigs (arenas/stadiums) haven’t delivered for a while, imo. And have become ludicrously expensive.

If they do a more trad, paired back arena tour (no in the round, pliz), I might be tempted but again, I think it’ll be a last-min Twickets job based on how the sets are shaping up.
