I also was able to get tickets with the "floating" code since my valid code was invalid. Let's see if my order gets canceled. Where did that floating code come from?

They didn't verify MY code. Maybe they verified a few codes. Or the concept of codes...

I can't second this enough. There isn't any excuse for this from any ticket broker, especially for a pre-sale. It's not like this traffic/etc was a surprise! They know how many codes there are and exactly when the demand would be.
