Besides Matt's vocals, I just really don't see any difference between Get Up and Fight and any generic radio pop-rock song.
-
So I have left the board long enough to let the idiots have their fun.
Now is the time for some intelligent fucking thought, and to reign it all in.
Half of the album sounds like Midge Ure's last solo album (which is a fucking masterpiece and doesn't deserve such horrible, blatant butchery).
Some of it sounds like 2015 Acrtic Monkeys if they'd stopped given a fuck, which they incidentally did this/last year.
Some of it sounds like Muse trying to do sexy.
I fucking hate it all.
I give it a year, unitl this album is collectively Muse's most hated.
Shit. Get fucking real.
This is horse shit.
Algorithm is OK, but also so far up its own arse that it's undoubtedly new Muse.
Get a fucking grip you idiots.
This is shit.
How dare you pretend otherwise.
You must really think highly of yourself.

Should these be watched in release order or what? There's too freaking many
I'm going to avoid all these videos until I've listened to the songs like 20 more times. I hate having images from videos forever matched to certain lines, etc, and it only takes one viewing for me for that to happen unfortunately.
That being said, if I only watch one of these, which should it be? People seem to like BITM.
If only one, go with BITM. It's more standalone than the others, not really part of a narrative.
-
I'm having trouble ranking the songs, which is a good thing cause there's like 6 songs battling it out with each other right now in the "great" category. This album turned out about as well as I could've hoped considering The Dark Side was the only pre-release single I really liked. And so far all the stuff I initially liked (but was sometimes unsure of) has fortunately only grown on me.
-
Damn, Blockades video is just a montage of all the other videos. So is that it for videos?
-
I'm also really surprised and a bit disappointed that Propaganda isn't getting a proper video.
-
Video for BITM is nice but kind of irrelevant to the point of the lyrics as far as narrative goes. Would have been nice to see some kind of multi-character interaction, maybe between Terry and Matt since it's implied Matt is the creator
It was a very good call for them to multitrack the synth bass over electric bass, it's smooth.
That's not Terry Crews in the video (maybe that's not what you meant). I don't think this one is tied into the actual ongoing story, but rather just showing a glimpse of the aftermath inside the school. Which fits since the song is so different from the rest of the songs with videos. I like the actual horror vibe of it, mixed with the dancing.

Oh yeah. That's good, I like it a lot actually. Kind of like a dance-y version of this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnnGYaqjW-A, which is one of my all time favorite music vids. (Quite different of course, but it's the flickering lights and the constant focus on one obviously struggling hybrid human animal guy with a gold chain necklace.)
Very interesting video, I see what you mean.
I'm also just realizing how nice the bass is during the chorus of BITM.

Posted in the album thread too, but this is incredible. Favorite music video of theirs without a doubt. Actually elevates the song imo.
-
Wow. The Break It to Me music video actually just kinda blew me away. Absolutely perfect choice for the song, and way different from the others so far. One of my favorite things they've done. The video actually made me enjoy the song even more, which is rare.
Edit: I guess this one could split opinions. Subreddit not seeming to like it so far ("filler").
-
Really enjoyed the video. Maybe mainly cause of the music though lol
-
The Break It to Me remix is actually really good.
-
I'm actually looking forward to watching the Algorithm video in a couple hours. Interested to see what they do since it opens with a 1m30 instrumental.
-
Really wish every song on the album had an alternate version now.
-
Now we know we're probably not getting much besides ST + hits. They'll just throw a medley in there and count that as playing the old stuff. God that would be awful.
And yeah, all that does is tease you with the stuff you really want to hear, so you're just like "Aw fuck :("
-
My big fear with this album is we're going to get Dark Side, Pressure, Something Human, Thought Contagion and Dig Down at every gig, with the others - the far, far, far superior tracks - rotated sparingly.
Dig Down definitely needs to be dropped imo. I know it probably won't happen though.
-
It releases on Spotify whenever it's actually the 9th in your time zone. So it's not out in the US.
-
Holy shit, Propaganda acoustic is seriously amazing. The instrumentation going on during the final part of the song is incredible. And this somehow has more impact than the normal version.
I personally feel like Propaganda is the type of song that could really get big on the radio.
-
Not listening until tomorrow but how is Matt's falsetto on the album? Does he push himself like he is with his chest voice?
Not really, nothing really high that I can think of. But there is a ton of softer falsetto, which I love.
-
That whole pre-chorus bit is so good with that bass. Wish that was consistent throughout the entire verse. So naturally hearing it repeated three times in a row is just ace.
I also love his subtle vocal changes as it goes on in that final bit.
-
The last minute of Propaganda
Currently probably my favorite part of the whole album.
-
Yeah the verses are just awful, they really take me out of the album. And they feel disconnected from the chorus.
-
I don't like the beat in the bridge.
Agreed.

They’ll say that no one can see us
That we’re estranged and all alone
They believe nothing can reach us
And pull us out of the boundless gloom
They’re wrong
They’re wrong
They are wrong
Yeah, baby, they’re wrong
They’re wrong
They’re wrong
They’ll say the sun is dying
And the fragile can’t be saved
And the cold, it will devour us
And we won’t rise up and slay giants
They’re wrong
They’re wrong
They are wrong
Yeah, baby, they’re wrong
They’re wrong
They’re wrong
It takes a leap of faith
To awake from these delusions
You are the coda and (?)
They’ll say no one will find us
That we’re estranged and all alone
They believe nothing can reach us
And pull us out of the boundless gloom
They’re wrong
They’re wrong
They are wrong
Baby, they’re wrong
They’re wrong
They are wrong
I’d need to know what Matt’s saying at the end of the bridge, might be another music term I don’t know to go along with coda. That could make the difference between reading it as “their” delusions and Matt/character’s, the former being positive, the latter being a pretty tragic twist.
I'm pretty positive he says "you are the coder and avatar."
