The solo in Blockades is so underwhelming though . It starts nowhere and ends nowhere. It also sounds really low or muffled in the mix. It's almost like it's not the main focus of that sections of the song.
MK Ultra is pretty much perfect so far as I'm concerned. Absolute brute live too.
I haven't noticed it being low or muffled in the mix, sounds fine to me. I also really enjoy how it starts after that drum fill.
-
I like Blockades, I just really wish they'd at least added one extra layer in that final chorus. As is, feels a bit anticlimactic after the highlight of a solo.
I'm not sure if I'd put it ahead of MK Ultra or not. I think Blockades benefits from much better production. And I kind of hate listening to studio MK Ultra just because of all the loud chirping sounds at the end. But overall it might be better than Blockades.

I'm thinking Madness would have fit much more cleanly on this album than DD. Replace GUAF with Animals and then there's really something there
I feel like Animals would be really out of place on ST.
-
Matt's really struggling vocally. Hope that's not how it'll be on tour.
-
I hate hearing that guy that has to yell out "It's Time Is Running Out" in a matter-of-fact way before the song starts.
-
His falsetto seems strained even on SMBH, like he's struggling to hold the notes...

I’m conflicted. I’m guessing that this is a pretty common opinion, but when the album is wacky and weird it’s pretty strong. There are a few songs that I think are genuinely fun and interesting (Propaganda, Break It To Me, etc) that I find myself going back to, and others that I’ll be skipping. The problem is that for all these interesting moments and songs, too many either feel like uninspired pastiches or retreads. Once again Muse aren’t great at writing straight pop songs, so why do they keep filling so much of the album with them?
Acoustic Dig Down is surprisingly good tho.
Pretty much how I feel. I think about half the album is really good, which makes it better than probably the last few albums for me, but still half the album really isn't good at all. So there's an annoying divide, especially when it's apparent Muse COULD still make an album that's really interesting all the way through. I do credit them for doing alternate tracks though, that's definitely a cool aspect.

I still like this song, but it feels a bit flat all the way through. Especially the first couple choruses.

Day 7, still love this album
Don’t, I tried so hard to be there
Don't think they were there. The full interview is on youtube.

Looks like side and lower bowl not available during D2C presale?
When I was buying tickets for another venue the floor was only showing up as available for VIP purchases, but then I put in my code for a seat and suddenly the floor "unlocked" and showed up as available for pre-sale.
-
Well that was annoying af. Got to the end of the waiting line and then it tried telling me the presale wasn't until 1pm? Kept refreshing and it finally let me in. Tried grabbing front row of 109 only to have it snatched away.. had my phone pulled up and was just about to give in and buy GA Floor, but then I saw another front row 109 pull up on my computer so I grabbed it. So I'll be in 109 row 1 seat 8, solo!
$120 though!!! Jeez.
Same exact thing happened to me. Sent me back to the original page for like 5 minutes with no way to get back in. Then randomly auto-refreshed again.
-
Does GA tend to sell out quickly/eventually? I bought one for myself, but I'm sure I'll have a couple unsure friends due to the ticket cost.
If I end up going solo I think I'm gonna regret not buying a front row seat on the side that was available. Oh well.

Have emailed warners and no reply and still have no pre acess code from purchase of album in september, had the email to say it would be sent closer to sale, have checked junk/spam, anyone got any suggestions thats printable
as its midnight on monday and I am really getting angry now, grrrr
I found mine in the promotions tab on Gmail. Don't know if that helps at all.
-
I'm not finding where the prices are listed. Do you know if the $99 tickets are for GA?

Are any of those examples actually confirmed to be a proper theremin? Doesn’t mention a use of one in the liner notes and they all sound like something that could just be done on a synth to me. That BITM bit could even be done w/ a guitar.
Matt said on the Radio X interview that that is theremin.
-
Were presale codes supposed to be sent in a separate email? I'm not seeing any code anywhere, just an email saying my order had shipped, including Presale Access. The only reason I bought something was for the presale code.

I usually hate rewinding songs, but sometimes I just have to keep rewinding that last minute. Matt's vocals, the dancy bass change, and the payoff at the end.

It’s something they seem to like doing over their discography, splitting the album in 2 halves using contrasting songs:
Showbiz > Unintended
Micro Cuts > Screenager
Hysteria > Blackout
Invincible > Assassin
Animals > Explorers
I’ve sorta got used to it by now so I don’t mind it too much, I can see why it’d bother others though ‘cos it used to bother me. Just reeeeally wish it was acoustic SH, feel that’d be a marginally more digestable transition too.
Yeah, I usually don't mind that too much. Especially with something like Micro Cuts > Screenager, I think that works pretty well.
It's just those bouncy pop synths (plus "My circuits have blowwwwn.") specifically, they're such a sudden buzzkill after the high of BITM.
-
The transition from Break It to Me to Something Human is really starting to bother me a lot. I'll be so into BITM, a heavy, experimental, awesome track. Then just straight into those radio pop synths and snaps. It's also a bit of a bummer that my top 4 tracks are all in the first 5 songs. Blockades and The Void being my 5 and 6.
-
As I predicted, the downfall starts.
I was a bit unsure of it from the start. It was never a favorite for me.
-
I'm kind of starting to find it a little... boring? Idk, it just doesn't do much, and the one part it does is just really familiar synth sounds. I don't mean to say it needs to be epic or anything, it just feels a bit empty at times. The verses aren't doing much for me either. All that being said, I still like it, I just don't think it's really special at all.
-
...nobody hurt, right?
Matt was watching it live from a security cam. Looks like the flames were approaching it.
-
I really like it, but I have a feeling people won't view this one quite as highly down the road. Not sure in what way exactly, but I just feel like it could be a little better.

You say that as if they didn't play TIRO and Hysteria at pretty much every gig last album cycle. Hysteria may get a break, but TIRO will definitely still be a staple.
