  3. I have no idea, to be honest. :erm: They must have had some special use in ancient Greek, but now they're all pronounced the same and we just learn which one to use.

    As far as ω is concerned, it is the same as above, with the exception that it is also always used in verbs when talking in first person. For example: λέω, παίζω, τρέχω etc, are all verbs in first person (I say, I play, I run). I don't know if I am totally correct, I was more into Maths at school :chuckle:

  4. When spelling hello is it για σου or γα σου;

    I'm teaching myself to spell haha.

    Anyway, με λένε Sair, τι κανετ;

    Nice to meet you! Το όνομα μου είναι Νατάσα! :awesome:

    The thing with γεια being written like this is that ει, οι, υ are all pronounced as ι, but they are used differently. This also happens with αι that is the same as ε. :)

  5. Ooh. Thank you! I just need to learn to read it as I can only say the alphabet and count to ten hahah

    No problem! Are you planning on taking some sort of course? I don't know where to begin, to be honest, but I found this site that has some common phrases and how they are pronounced, as well as this, that shows you how to read some simple words in Greek. Sorry if I'm not much help, but you can ask anything you like :happy:

    Καλή τύχη! (good luck!)

  6. Hello my lovely Greeks! I myself am not Greek, but my boyfriend is and I was wondering if any of you speak Greek as a second language and if you do, have you used communicate in Greek to learn?

    I desperately want to learn because although he can't speak Greek, I feel his family would accept me more if I could speak it. Also. I was wondering if you could help/correct my Greek. I'd like to get to know you all. :)

    Hello! Of course we could help you! As far as I know everyone posting in this thread lives in Greece, so it is our first language! Feel free to ask anything you like :happy:

:unsure:
