I gotta be honest, I'm not holding out much hope for this track. The descriptions don't make it sound like it's gonna be bad, but I remember descriptions of songs from previous albums being this sort of vague and they ended up not being that great.
At least this way I can be pleasantly surprised though.

Yeah I think even with modern production standards it would be criticized just because of how good they sound live now compared to their earlier days. I've always viewed it in the reverse, though: if I like a song, the fact that it might sound better live is just a bonus of the whole live experience, as opposed to it ruining my view of the album version.
I agree. So long as the track sounds it's best on the album.

I agree. It reminds me of Madness which was just so boring when I saw it on the T2L tour. Shame, because it is relatively big on the recording.
